News for all Saints fans to cheer in the Sunday Mirror

South Coast Journo Peter White, a Villa fan tweeted this this evening:

"For all you Saints fans. Got one you will love to read in this week's Sunday Mirror. Watch this space tomorrow #saintsfc"

Then asked what if same as the Lambert story in tomorrow's papers, to which he said: "Totally different in the Sunday Mirror. One to cheer all Saints fans #saintsfc"

He says he may tell us a bit more tomorrow though. Anyway, tomorrow Lambert is interviewed on Football Focus from 11:30am BBC1.

Rickie's also in the Daily Star saying: "I've given burgers and booze the boot!"

I know some may see this as irritating or what not, but just a heads up for some who may have missed it.

He is teasing us but I'm hoping it will live up to it's billing.

Are you questioning the facts or the grammar? Using "an" before the letter h isn't grammatically incorrect, both variants are considered valid.

I'm surprised at the content of the words as I have never seen it suggested anywhere credible (and, as it happens, I don't really consider the Mirror to be a credible source either) that "an horrific attack" took place - my recollection of earlier reports is that they were far more equivocal.

The grammar is fine.

I have no idea what happened that night but given that the police investigated and didn't bring any charges against anyone I am surprised to see it described in a newspaper as "an horrific attack". It may well have actually been an horrific attack. I don't know.

Anyway, best of luck to Dan.

I know Peter white and while he is from the midlands he is a saints fan. I used to go round to his house in Southampton I. The mid 90s

I'm afraid not because it's not the same Peter White.

This Peter White has never lived in Southampton. He was a freelance for a few national papers in the Midlands and only moved down to the Isle of Wight around 10 years or so ago.

The Peter White you know and are thinking about was the BBC's disabled affairs correspondent, as he is blind. Last I knew, he lived in Winchester.

Glad he's healthy! But let's hope, based on his performances before the, uh, 'attack', he doesn't get near the first team.

He was fantastic at the start of the season. Didn't put a foot wrong, he made a storming start along with us.

No idea what you're getting at?

The Radio Solent Peter White is indeed from Winchester and is a lifelong Saints fan.

He's been blind from birth and tells an amusing story about when he attended a boarding school for the blind in Worcester back in the mid 60's.

As older listees will remember, in 66 we were about to be promoted to the old Div 1. We had an evening game away at Orient and a point would get us up.

Peter sneaked out of his boarding school, got the train to London, went to the game, got the train back and managed to get back into school before anyone noticed his absence. Not bad for someone who's totally blind.

He did live in Winchester - played against him in quiz leagues for a few years. He is definitely a Saints fan.

"Seaborne was attacked last September and rushed to hospital with a fractured skull"

Has it actually been confirmed that he was the victim of an attack?

Not really he got a push from a bouncer, fell over and hit his head but he brought it upon himself with some knobbish behaviour.

Well that's the way of it from the "reports" that we had at the time anyway.
