toofarnorth Posted 16 March, 2012 Posted 16 March, 2012 Washed my car the other day and scrubbed quite vigorously to get a bird poo off, only now its really taken the shine off the surrounding area. What's the best polish people have used to get these kind of things sparkling again?
toofarnorth Posted 16 March, 2012 Author Posted 16 March, 2012 Or if anyone knows of somewhere locally that I could take it to get in done that would also be appreciated.
Colinjb Posted 16 March, 2012 Posted 16 March, 2012 Try Autoglymm. I use their polishes on my Mondeo and before that SEAT and Alfa Romeo. They've always done a fine job.
buctootim Posted 16 March, 2012 Posted 16 March, 2012 Apparently bird poo is really bad for paintwork, so it might be that thats taken the shine off, not the rubbing. Get some t-cut to bring it up again then any old polish will be fine (Autoglym stuff is great tho.)
Raging Bull Posted 19 March, 2012 Posted 19 March, 2012 Before you polish it you need to use a clay bar, it's quite hard work and time consuming but is the best way to get the best shine on your vehicle.
gary r Posted 19 March, 2012 Posted 19 March, 2012 As previously mentioned you need to clean your paintwork before you apply polish, go on a website called http://www.detailingworld.co.uk, your find all the information your ever need
sperm_john Posted 19 March, 2012 Posted 19 March, 2012 To be honest I thought the best cars were German not Polish
SOTONS EAST SIDE Posted 19 March, 2012 Posted 19 March, 2012 After you have used a clay bar, polish it with a good carnuba based wax.

Absolutely, removes all the fine particulates and contaminants from the paint outer surface. Just remember to spray waters onto the paint surface to lubricate the bar's travel over the bodywork. As buctootim says it may need a real abraisive t-cut type substance to bring the bird-poo effected area up again. Autoglym do a wonderful 'paint restore' polish for just such a purpose, a little kinder then t-cut which really is nasty stuff.
toofarnorth Posted 23 March, 2012 Author Posted 23 March, 2012 Cheers all. May try the t-cut metallic followed by a wax.
