Tadanari on Crutches

Saw a mention of this on the match thread, but thought it could do with one of it's own.

He won't play this weekend, nor will Connolly, who is also unavailable due to injury.

Such a shame, he was really settling in well and getting into the swing of things.

However, this is where you appreciate the strength and depth we have accumulated:

Lambert, Sharp, Do Prado and Barnard (who was a first choice striker last year) all fit.

That was published at 6:50am this morning by an Echo journalist, probably written on Wednesday evening for a paper that has little contact with Saints. The Tadanari Lee news came from BBC Radio Solent (who are allowed into the training ground for every pre match interview) in the early afternoon after today's training session.

The Solent tweet said they were a 'major doubt' and 'doubtful' respectively.

Without wishing to steal MLG's thunder, have you heard additional news that turns the 'doubt' into a 'definite'?

Cheers

From th O/S http://www.saintsfc.co.uk/page/NewsDetail/0,,10280~2660250,00.html

Nigel has a couple of concerns going into the weekend, but has the option of freshening up his squad again after resting the likes of Richard Chaplow and Jason Puncheon from the last two games.

"David Connolly got a kick on his knee on Saturday. Jos Hooiveld had a fantastic shot from 40 yards that the keeper has blocked and David has gone charging in to get the rebound and got a decent bang on his knee there. We will get the right diagnosis there and see what comes of that.

"Chung got a kick on his foot so we have immobilized it as we always do, but it is too early to say if he is struggling for the weekend or not."

So, there's still a chance he might be ok...?

I would doubt it. Adkins hates to give out injury news to the opposition so would trot out the 'too early to say' line if Lee had two broken legs.

I think it would be fair to say that to go from crutches to match fit in two days is unlikely to say the least. Far more likely is that Lee will be out for 2-3 weeks.

Agree that Adkins is adept at "pulling the wool over our eyes" when it comes to giving out injury news.....ergo, it doesn't rule out the possibility that they are making more out of Tadanari's injury than is actually the case.

Adkins: "Here you are Lee....grab these crutches before you leave....hobble out of the ground so that the journos think you're more injured than you actually are"*

I've noticed that Adkins tends to say if a player is due back from injury, yet he's more vague when admitting if a player will be out next game.

So my money, sadly, is on Lee being out for Millwall. Adkins will be happy for the uncertainty in relation to Millwall's planning.
