We are off to Andalusia this year. A couple of days in Seville, a couple in Jerez and then roast on the beach in Conil. You could do this on any budget.

True.

We're doing Eurocamp around Italy after my daughter's wedding 9 nights at 283 quid for the two of us, mixing Beaches & lakes 3 nights hotel at 40 Euros a night (4* of course) and 4 nights in an Agro Toruisme Apartment at 60 Euro a night.

Airmiles to Rome from here cost 120 quid for two of us

(Flying my Mum from LHR - Rome on Alitalia was 110 quid all in return full service airline - just for the wedding part)

Car Rental cost $750 for the 15 days we are there as we had to have an estate for getting people & luggage to the wedding but could have got a Fiat Panda for around $400.

It's about what you want out of a Holiday and what you can afford. Abruzzo around Pescara is stunning and as cheap as chips.

The TRICK for doing something "further away" is to see some of the country and culture and avoid a Package Holiday or "Tourist Hot Spot" like the plague. Good thing about Europe is you can always find someone who knows special places now - thanks to Ryanair & SleazyJet. When you go further afield the first time, it can be a little more daunting.

Not so many have been long haul though.

Orchard Towers, Soi Katoy, Pimps & Touts. Jewellery Factories, Skimming Credit Card numbers, Happy Endings.

The biggest disaster that most Long Haul tourists make is to be "scared" to leave the hotel that drives them to book All-Inclusive holidays (or Full Board) - In SE Asia, the Food and the street-side restaurants are 1) Cheap as Chips and 2) a huge part of the fun & experience.

OP asked about all inclusive holidays - quite a few pointed out they may not be the best idea unless you really are on a beach in the middle of nowhere

I'm doing 5 nights in Jerez, 7 in Caceres, 3 in Seville and 3 in Gibraltar. Are you flying into Northfront?

If you're going all that way for beaches, you want to go to Thailand or Malaysia. Cambodia is a fantastic place but the beach resorts are pretty seedy and not that great. Unless you want to watch fat Germans and Yanks noncing on 15 year old boys... So I had a whale of a time.

Just read this below on another Forum. Be very careful about being given "free" stuff in shops.

Quotes:-

"Whilst Indonesia and Thailand are beautiful places. I personally will give them a wide berth. In Thailand the problem

isn't drugging up your bags its some duty free shops in cahoots with the airport cops that set you up for an arrest

by accusing you of "stealing".

"They've stopped that scam now - too much exposure and King Power trying to keep a much lower profile these days."

"Yep at Suvarnabhumi and Phuket that is true - but be aware of Songkhla (Hat Yai) and Chiang Mai whenever the

shops are really crowded with Western tourists. NEVER accept anything appearing to be a freebie into your bag even

if it appears to be fully genuine. Watch everything they quickly shove in your bag hoping you won't notice - if you

didn't buy it you dump it!

Songkhla though isn't greedy - they only asked for 200 bucks US during the last event I heard of which occurred in Feb".

"I can understand Hat Yai & BKK...but CMA was surprising - they're a nicer breed up North. From what I know

its a cop thing not a DF thing - the girls get a slice of the take after the cops pocket theirs (about 20% I was told).

Some of the staff readily agree to the scam while others need coercing using peer pressure. I'm lucky as I do frequent

many of those DF boozeries and get to know some of the girls - and usually I leave a good tip for 'em - so I've never

been targetted. And yes the incidences have reduced and what remains is pocket change but its best to always be on

guard nonetheless."
