Pearce going to cross the divide?

A few Skates seem convinced he is on his way to us on loan. Fuelled by paper talk and him deleting his twitter account last night.

Brave move by the lad if true. Would he be first choice for us? Not for me, still remember Lambert bullying him when he was playing for Bournemouth.

If he takes the leap though, then I like to think we will back him.

As cover to jos and Jose, I'd certainly be pleased

Has anyone ever done this to great success? A few have gone both ways and been OK, including some of our favourite players, but has anyone actually managed to be hero at both clubs?

I spoke to a few skates when I was doing my "Crossing the Divide" feature on my site.

Dave Beasant is well liked by both, not sure he get's legend status at either though!

As a manager there'd be Alan Ball, as mentioned in his wiki page, ahem:

In January 1998, Ball was contacted by Brian Howe, who informed him he was to make a takeover bid for the club and that he would like Ball to manage the club. This led to Ball returning to Portsmouth as manager in February 1998, however the take-over never came about. When he was appointed Pompey were several points adrift at the bottom of the table and enduring a near-fatal financial crisis, going into administration for over a year.

One of Lambert's worst performances in a saints shirt was at bournemouth last season. Got no joy from Pearce in the air. Where Pearce needs to improve is his delivery out of defence -bit of a hoof merchant- and he tends to get too tight to his man. Still a left-sided CB is a rare thing -and possibly suggests seaborne's days are numbered.

Make up your minds chaps.

As for hero at both clubs, Peter Crouch??

Peter Crouch is definetley not a hero at Saints, dont you remember him bottling it a fratton.

Also getting stupidly sent off at Crystal Palace when he was key to Redknapp's genius tactic of "lump it up to Crouchie and see what happens", which left us utterly clueless against Man United's reserves on the final day.

and not keeping the ball in the corner in the final minute at harrys first home game ( i think) - he shot , they got possession and scored in the dying seconds......cost us 2 points, and started a succession of losing points in the last minutes of games

Seabourne & Jaidi back in training ... do we need him ?

Jaidi is ancient and is nowhere near in the shape to play in the Championship. That's why Adkins choose to play Fox at CB over him. Jaidi won't be seen in a first team shirt again and will be released come season's end. Seaborne is coming back from a very serious head injury so is also nowhere near ready to be thrown into a promotion battle. In any case, even in his prime I have seen little to show he is anything better than a L1 level CB.

Pearce has been playing in the Championship all season so as backup to Fonte and Jos I would say he would also be above Martin in the pecking order.

He would be a great addition.

Barry Horne wasn't bad but Alan McLoughlin was a bit of a flop.

Alan mcLoughlin went came from Swindon and then went to Pompey from Saints, he was never palyed in his best position just behind front two at Saints, hence why he did well elsewhere but not with Saints

I know its the sun so not very reliable but they are reporting it today

Saints taking the Pearce

SOUTHAMPTON plan to cash in on rivals Portsmouth's cash crisis by signing their skipper Jason Pearce.

Saints boss Nigel Adkins wants to take centre-back Pearce on loan to bolster his Premier League push.

And Pompey are willing to offload him to cut their wage bill and help stave off the threat of liquidation.

Pearce got mugged by Lambert for the first goal at bournemouth last season. We can do better but i'd take him on loan til the end of the season, if only to annoy the skates, it'd be hilarious
To be fair if we wrote off every centre back that Sir Rickie has made look shyte this season and last we would be aiming for premier league players only. Id be more concerned if barnard had turned him inside out all game.

Niemi has. Niemi is truely the player who, IMO, has been a hero playing for us and also a hero while on the books at P****y

It was a bad first goal, a lapse of concentration more than anything. But Pearce had Lambert in his back pocket after that. Lambert hardly won a header.

Think that was the Everton game where he should have run to the corner (Beattie also scored against us that day). Redknapp's first game in charge was highlighted by conceding two goals in the last minute to blow a 2-0 lead over Middlesbrough. Still, Crouch was our best player that miserable season.

Wouldn't want him having had the benefit of seeing him play for an entire season, hope it's not true.

And Fratton Park?

This would be the Cortese equivalent of throwing some money in a bucket for them. I would think it is more to do with weakening them to ensure we get 4 points off them this year as providing cover for a position we already have cover for.

Having lost their captain, their goal keeper and it looks like their anchor man, what is left for them? Their reasonably solid defensive pairing. Take away one of them and they have pretty much lost the spine of their team. Hopefully they replace him with someone like Olly Lancashire on loan.

Sha la la la la la la la
