Tonight's games

Maybe at some point you could also try praising the team for being top with ten games to go. Just a thought eh? Would it really pain you that much or does putting a negative slant on everything arouse you that much?

Just put him on ignore. Then you don't have to read his 98% negative contributions. Unless someone else quotes him. It's the way forward.

In fact, Readings next 7 games look horrendous on paper...

Barnsley away, P'Boro away, Blackpool home, WHU away, Leeds home, Brighton away, Southampton away.

They will drop plenty of points there.

I said this earlier, but the 4 games before that list were on Saturday/Tuesday/Saturday/Tuesday. The next 3 follow that pattern, then they have a weeks rest before West Ham, then they play Friday/Tuesday/Friday/Tuesday. They will run out of steam.

Just back from Donny game (staying up in Derby at moment and thought I would give Donny an extra bit of support). Reading were very dangerous from set pieces, especially corners, they had three excellent chances in 1st half before inevitably scoring from one in the 2nd half (scored by ex-Saint Pearce with excellent header at far post). Donny were no pushovers and looked dangerous on the break with Diouff holding up the ball well.

Overall Reading will be kicking themselves that they didn't get all three points as they had plenty of chances to score a winner but Rovers nearly nicked it at the death also.

Very poor atmosphere in the Rovers stand, a guy with a drum was about 20 seats to my left trying to drum up support (pardon my pun) but it didn't help much. Made me appreciate St Marys which is deafening in comparison even in quieter matches such as Leicester or Bristol City this season.

If we hadnt lost twice to Bristol City this would be as near as dammit to being over.

Rochdale were a useful team last season. Bristol City are useless c*nts followed by mongs.

How childish. Bristol City played some great football at St Mary's and thoroughly deserved their victory. That is the Championship for you - this is probably the most competitive league in Europe. Nearly all the teams in this division play some very good football - the table is just there to show how often you do it. Saying 'losing twice against BC is awful' is an ignorant thing to say. A point at home to Bristol City would have been a good result on the night, whereas the draw at West Ham was a bad one. Each game has to be viewed in its own right. And surely you realise that every team in the country can use the 'if only...' argument...?

They really didn't. It was a poor game on behalf of both teams, not least Bristol City who to be honest, are looking good for relegation.

They're an extremely arrogant club and I can say that having dealt directly with people who work for them. They're also seriously deluded in thinking they're a big club just because Colin Sexstone or whoever it is throws a few quid at them when they need it. As for the people who follow Bristol City, I only know one supporter and he's not the greatest example of humankind if ever there was such a thing.

I don't like Brighton either but it would be somewhat comical if Saints went up as champions, Reading in second and Brighton in the play-offs.

Firstly there would be the prospect of a three-way "Southern Challenge" in the Premier League, with us finally getting some southern clubs outside London again. The best bit of that would be that P*mpey would be nowhere near - guaranteed to be out in the wilderness competing with Bournemouth, Oxford and Swindon to see who is the 5th, 6th or 7th biggest southern side. Sorry if I'm ignoring Plymouth or Gillingham here.

Next, not getting promoted could potentially cause Birmingham and West Ham to go pop. Imagine Portsmouth limping to the end of the season and still trying to find a buyer in the summer when two bigger name clubs go into administration. And at least those clubs have some sort of assets. P*mpey have been playing the "we're a big club in need of help" story for so long now but what happens when a bigger story comes along? Rangers has moved them somewhat into the shadows as they are a genuinely huge club but what happens when a big English club goes pop? Who would want to hear about P*mpey let alone buy them? It would be amusing to see them moved to the sidelines, left to rot in either League One (with further point penalties?) or the non-league while West Ham and Birmingham become the bigger story, attracting the bigger potential buyers. Would be nice to see P*mpey only able to attract the interests of toy salesmen and photocopier traders.

Yes, I'm cruel I know :p

Also went tonight to support Rovers. I thought they looked pretty good when they got the ball on the ground, just a shame they seemed to insist on booting it long to Diouff and playing head tennis, Diouff tries to many fancy tricks and flicks. Thought Simon Gillett had a good game particularly as he seemed to be marking the biggest bloke on the pitch (Jason Roberts) Could not believe the number of corners and free kicks Reading got (the only time they looked interested)

Thought the atmosphere was all right, particularly near the end (but then again I sit in the Chapel so I'm used to quiet) Reading support was crap - and they've started singing "we're coming for you"

Good night out with a decent result.

Fantastic result for Reading tonight, picking up a point at in form Doncaster. That confirms it, we're going to blow it and end up in the play-offs. I'm going to put my entire wedding fund on West Ham and Reading getting auto promotion.

(There, that aught to buy us the Championship.)

I don't care what happens for the rest of the season now, as long as these three things happen:

1) Saints go up automatically (couldn't take the play-offs!)

2) P*mpey go down

3) Brighton don't make the play-offs

Hopefully the table will finish something like...

1) SAINTS

2) Reading

--------------------------------

3) West Ham

4) Hull

5) Birmingham

6) Middlesbrough

--------------------------------

7) Cardiff

8] Blackpool

9) Brighton

and then at the bottom...

20) Doncaster

21) Bristol City

----------------------------

22) Nottm Forest

23) Coventry

24) P*mpey

I have the final table as:

Saints: Played 46, GD 46, Points 92

West Ham: PLayed 46, GD 21 Points 80

Reading: Played 46, GD 14 Points 79

...and believe it or not, I was being generous to everyone! Even losing four of our games would still put us on 80 with a better goal difference. I think 15+ points could do it.

Forget west ham and reading- Anyone else worried about playing Doncaster in a couple of weeks??:p

Potentially one of our trickiest games - they are 3rd from bottom and will be fighting like feck for safety.

Our natural expectations are a walkover ..... Big effort needed from players and the crowd not to get edgy if not winning 3-0 by the 10th minute :scared:

me i will take 1 nil wins at home in every game until the end of the season, promotion in the 60's and 78 had a few last gasp winners, anyone who was there will remember Charlton at the Dell or Luton away in 78.

Hold your nerve and the faith

Erm, when you say you dont care much for the rest of the season, as long as your wish list of things happen, did you actually leave a lot not to care about ??? ;)

In the last 10 games, Reading have caught up Saints by 3 points. If they do the same in the next 10 games they will finish 1 point ahead of us. Ohh noooooo...

We've reached that part of the season where the situation gets statistically analysed to death. Bottom line is its down to us. Win 6 (maybe only 5 needed if one of them is the Reading game), we go up auto.

I'm hoping that Coventry are mathematically demoted before we meet them at the end of the season. My calculations (which ever way I do it) go all the way to a last match decider, and we could do without a banana skin against a desperate Coventry.

I'm more concerned about our performances against the so called weaker/lower teams than against teams in the top half of the table, as previous results have proved.

Totally and utterly agree

The reason we were poor that night was largely due to them getting their tactics spot on and stopping us playing. And when they did have the ball, they kept and used it well at times, and definitely deserved to win the match. If the match was a great spectacle with lots of free-flowing football then we would have won it comfortably 9 times out of 10, so of course they were going to try and avoid that.

I think you're unfairly giving them credit to be honest, but each to their own...

Last nights result was not just about Reading dropping 2 points. They've been playing on confidence for this run. See how they become average again.

Completely agree. Tough games to come, and I believe they will finish well adrift of us.

Perhaps so - we certainly didn't perform well that night. But I thought they showed good grit and desire that night. Think they had more possession and a similar number of shots to us. Game of opinions though...
