Dr Who? Posted 11 March, 2012 Posted 11 March, 2012 This is just a little fun, and I am not saying that we are 100% going to go up. But which game if you were to guess do you think will see us get mathematically promoted! I am going to go with Posh away.
jasoneuelllfanclub Posted 11 March, 2012 Posted 11 March, 2012 Love it to be pompey game and send them down at same time
Dr Who? Posted 11 March, 2012 Author Posted 11 March, 2012 Love it to be pompey game and send them down at same time Is that even possible?
DG Posted 11 March, 2012 Posted 11 March, 2012 Friday 6th - when they chicken out and go bust, handing us a load of points over West Ham.
Jack Posted 11 March, 2012 Posted 11 March, 2012 Wrap up promotion away at Boro, with a mad weekend on the ****, then win the title at our promotion party against Cov
kwsaint Posted 11 March, 2012 Posted 11 March, 2012 Coventry. Will all go down to the wire is my prediciton.
Dr Who? Posted 11 March, 2012 Author Posted 11 March, 2012 Dare I say, playoff final? Say what you like, but of course it will not matter if we go up!
itchen_dan Posted 11 March, 2012 Posted 11 March, 2012 Coventry. Gonna be a nervous final day for the first time in a few years!
pingwing Posted 11 March, 2012 Posted 11 March, 2012 Coventry, Reading and West Ham are just a little too close for it not to go down to the last day
John Boy Saint Posted 12 March, 2012 Posted 12 March, 2012 Coventry, Reading and West Ham are just a little too close for it not to go down to the last day Cripes we will be gibbering wrecks by then!!!!!!
SNSUN Posted 12 March, 2012 Posted 12 March, 2012 Final Day against Coventry. Our superior goal difference will see us win the league from West Ham. Reading will have given us a Huddersfield-esque fight to the finish though. Besides the key players like Rickie and Adam, we find a hero in Richard Chaplow, who hits a run of goalscoring form from midfield that Frank Lampard would be proud of. Jason Puncheon also atones for his sins with a brace against Portsmouth. Leeds shock everyone and win the play-offs. Rickie wins the Championship Golden Boot, and we have to turn down an offer of £5 million from QPR in the summer.
Saint_Jonny Posted 12 March, 2012 Posted 12 March, 2012 If it goes down to the last game I'll make the trip, but I'll be selfish and say boro' away because I'm definitely going to that!
Lighthouse Posted 12 March, 2012 Posted 12 March, 2012 I'm going to say we will have the same scenario as last year. The result at Boro will leave us 2nd, 3 points above West Ham in 3rd with 12 points better GD. Technically we would not yet be promoted as we would have to avoid a 13 goal turn around with a 7-0 home defeat against Coventry on the last day. Maybe...
AussieDog Posted 12 March, 2012 Posted 12 March, 2012 In my dreams... Portsmouth....in my hopes Reading (my last game before coming back to Aus)...but in my heart it's going to be a 1-1 draw at Peterboro with No 7 scoring our goal. Same as in our previous 2 promotions to the Premier League. Sir Rickie can join the elite group of Tony Funnell and Tery Paine in scoring the goal that seals are return to the top league PS...If anyone can get me 2 tickets to the Peterboro game, it's actually 2 days before I fly back and I'd happily re-arrange my schedule to fit the game in
Jimmy Gabriel's Halo Posted 12 March, 2012 Posted 12 March, 2012 Last day - down to the wire I'm afraid. It's 2 from 3.
saintscottofthenortham Posted 12 March, 2012 Posted 12 March, 2012 I hope it's Boro away. Plymuff last year was superb and would just love to be rewarded for the mega trip to Boro' with promotion and it will give me an excuse for an almighty beer fest all the way home.
saints triumph Posted 12 March, 2012 Posted 12 March, 2012 Wrap up promotion away at Boro, with a mad weekend on the ****, then win the title at our promotion party against CovI'll second that
Whitey Grandad Posted 12 March, 2012 Posted 12 March, 2012 Why did you have to do this My thoughts too. Bit previous aren't we?
mulletsaint Posted 12 March, 2012 Posted 12 March, 2012 I did the BBC predictor, not the most reliable of guides unless you're some sort of stats genius (I'm not) I'm aware. I have managed to end up with a final table with the following top three: 1 Saints P46 GD40 PTS91 2 West Ham P46 GD31 PTS91 3 Reading P46 GD28 PTS91 Now I'm obviously hoping that we finish top, but I've got to say I hope it doesn't end up that close! It would have to go down as the best Championship season ever to finish like that. I imagine a few more points will be dropped along the way by each team. I also think Leeds and Brighton will have a big say on what happens up top. Luckily we don't have to play either again, unlike both Reading and WH.

If that's the situation, I'm going to **** my pants, then change them, then **** in those pants too. I sincerely hope it doesn't end up that close - it would be lovely to get an advantage before the last game of the season, but unless West Ham or Reading tail off somehow, I can see it being that close too.
Micky Posted 12 March, 2012 Posted 12 March, 2012 I think it's all a bit previous for this to be honest - still 10 games to go, 30 points to battle for - it could all go to plan, or it could all go horribly wrong. During our premiership years and all the relegation battles that we had, I never used to worry until the last 6 games of the season, and that's exactly how I see it in this scenario as well. That's the crunch time, that's when you have to hold your nerve, and that's possibly when this thread will be more relevant. I know the OP started it as a bit of fun - but it kind of makes us easy targets if the wheels fall off and we find ourselves here next year. Hopefully that wont happen, but I think I'll pass on this one until we get into the last 6 - and even then I'll probably be non-committed.
AussieDog Posted 13 March, 2012 Posted 13 March, 2012 It's just a bit of fun and I'm sure we have all been dreaming about this sort of scenario for the past 8 years. One day I think we're going to win the league and the next I think we're destined for the playoffs. Enjoy the ride!
Dr Who? Posted 21 March, 2012 Author Posted 21 March, 2012 Anyone fancy changing their prediction? Still going for Posh, but think it might be beating Reading.
S-Clarke Posted 21 March, 2012 Posted 21 March, 2012 I reckon it'll be similar to last season. We'll be 'promoted on GD'' after the posh game, but then we'll need a point from the final 2 to make absoloutley sure.
Dr Who? Posted 19 April, 2012 Author Posted 19 April, 2012 So taking a look at this most could be right with Middlesbough away, but I was so close with my brave prediction of Tuesday, just needed to hold on against the skates.
