The imminent threat of Reading

Personally I see them as the main threat to us finishing in the top two they are the most in form team and as several people have pointed out form counts for a lot especially with ten games to go! Which team do you see as the main threat?

It's now a 3 horse race, but the enormous pluses we have in our court are:

- We're still top

- It's in our hands

- We have to play Reading - at Home, so we can take points off them.

- Reading have to play WHU - so points will be dropped there by one of them.

- Reading also still have to play Boro, Brum, Leeds....Hull....(and us obviously).

I think we're positioned pretty well.

reading would have done very very well to get more than 8 points from the games they play against saints, west ham, Brighton and Brum

very well........

they will also drop points where we think they won't too.....

IMO we will need 85/86 for top 2.......we can afford to drop 12 more points IMO

Even though Reading seem to be the team that are the biggest threat, they surely cannot keep winning! 8 wins on the spin, they are due a few defeats and draws. Cannot see them winning 18 on the spin!

Can see Reding dropping points in the next 2 games, starting with Donny away on Tuesday...hopefully!

Saints

Reading

West Ham

I think I am just going to go crazy looking at the league tables and the fixtures of us, reading and west ham. I think we have the easier fixtures, but I do not think this means a thing when it comes to this league!

Did we mess up last season....NOPE!

COYR!

In order for Saints to not finish in the top two it needs two teams to finish above Saints, not one.

I'm feeling really positive. Checkout what happened with Reading last season. Big winning streak then failed at the end.

Both Saints and Wham have been up and down all season (mainly up obviously) but Reading's form is compressed into the last 7 games. One defeat for them and it will effect their confidence. Also look at Birmingham. They had that big run then what happened.

If we get our heads down and perform, it could be Reading & Wham fighting it out for 2nd.

Of their remaining games, they only have 4 at home, 7 are away. And obviously got some pretty hard games in there too, including us. Pretty confident if we can beat them we will finish above them!

Of our remaining games, we also only have 4 at home. We have some pretty hard games as well, including Reading at home.

But I'd still bet on us going up automatically. I hope its us and Reading, in that order.

oh, and leeds have been transformed under warnock.......reading have to play them too...

When I did the predictor a couple of weeks back I actually had Leeds finishing 3rd somehow, so they must have a favourable run in. Would certainly not bet against them making the play offs.

Again, 'Leeds transformed'.

4 games

1 win

2 draws

1 loss

5 points from 12. 1.25 points per game. Prior to his appointment, 1.5 points per game this season.

I'm sure they'll do well, but saying 'transformed' right now is moronic.

And? Three of those games were away -and three against teams that were in the playoffs at the time. Not to mention the fact they should have murdered us and the skates. They look 'transformed' and am quite happy to wager that over a decent run of games, they'll average more than 1.5 ppg.

I think we played Leeds at just the right time, Warnock is no slouch managing teams in this division, post match today he was almost licking his lips at playing West Ham next weekend.

Our destiny is in our own hands, and Nigel seems to be doing his best to keep everyone's feet firmly on the ground.

I have a feeling this may well be the case too. Hopefully this feeling will prove correct :)

Donnie were unlucky not to get all three points at WHU so if they are playing well at the moment and fighting for their lives to stay in the division then you would hope they can take something from Reading...I imagine fatigue will play a part with them soon having to play so many games.

When you have so many games to be played in such a short space of time, anything can happen for any of the clubs. I would not write off any of the top 3 at present and although West Ham have been going through the wringer, they have the superior squad and could easily deliver. I feel we need 6 wins from our remaining games to ensure promotion, 5 maybe if we beat Reading. Our problem is that we only have 4 of our 10 games at home, with our away form only just recently delivering good points but there are no guarantees that will continue as demonstrated over all our away games. It's all going to come down to how we use our squad and the ability to see out games without using up too much stamina. As West Ham demonstrated against Doncaster, that's no simple task. Take your foot of the pedal and all sorts of crap happen

I think all our experiences from last year's run in will now come to the fore. Nigel's done this promotion thing now a few times and know what works, and the guys were great under pressure last season - most of them remain for this season. Just hope we get no important injuries as that could make all the difference. West Ham supporters have been getting very tetchy lately and I think it's affecting their home form.

Not so sure.. really, think its going to be closer to 90 - think we need 7 wins from last 10 games? Tricky as will depend on WHU and Reading... darn its complicated this guessing malarky ;-)

Think 90 will win it, 88/89 for second and third will end up on around 85/86 - will go to last weekend IHMO (saying that now, as this means we will win the league with a game to spare going by my correct prediction history...)
