Leeds just gone 1 up vs Middlesborough.

Ok, not a match that directly affects Saints but prefer Leeds to win this one as it casts Middlesborough further adrift from the top 3. 'Boro aren't quite out of contention yet (auto-promotion slot).

I'd prefer a Leeds win too. I don't see Leeds as a threat, but 'Borough could arguably be a problem with a good run. Leeds winning keeps them both just out of reach.

Leeds have a big say in the promotion race - playing boro, to play west ham, reading, blackpool and cardiff

I can't remember wishing good fortune on Neil Warnock or Leeds before, but here we are. I don't really rate Boro this year, they have far too many shockers to be automatic candidates, yet somehow they are still up there. A win today would leave them 4 points behind Reading and still with a game in hand on Saints. I wouldn't completely write them off.

A win would also mean that Leeds have confidence going into the game against WHU this weekend.

And equally, WHU will be more concerend going into this weekend. Their confidence already seems lower than usual, plus the pressure seems to be getting to them, so throwing them into a pumped-up, energised and confident Leeds is exactly what we need!

Interesting to see Boro players' body language and reactions to when moves breakdown or things go wrong, particularly Bailey and Robson. They just look to their teammates as if to say "FFS, you're all useless" - a world away from the unity our players seem to have. Together as one indeed.

With the teams Leeds have to play.. they could be our secret agent. Great result for them today. Boro are decent but dont have enough goals for me, think we could win there too.

Confirmed as 3-horse race. Boro have finally run out of gas, about 5 months later than I expected them to!

Leeds could definitely help us, Warnock will get them very fired up.

Brilliant. Heard exactly the same from a forest fan after 2 games under Cotterill.

If you heard fans slagging off a manager after 2 or 3 games, you'd suggest they give it time. Yet when it's the opposite, no-one seems to criticise. It's that exist line of thinking that ends with Andy Carroll being valued at 35m after 2 or 3 months of playing well. Whatever happened to assessing things over a half sensible timeframe?

Warnock might do well, he might not. A good start is just that, a start. If it goes badly, they quite rightly say 'it isn't really my squad yet'. Surely it can't work both ways? Always intrigued by situations like Sunderland. O'Neill goes in and does well quickly, the media are gushing over him. Well, the results have been good, they've improved, but Sunderland have also had some very good spells under Bruce. Their problem was always keeping it going longer term. Were they not right up there after beating Chelsea 3-0 at stamford bridge under Bruce?

Things turn around very quickly. I'm all for giving people time, especially with players. We seem to write them off in 45 minutes (Falque anyone?) and others build a player up hugely based on a handful of games (Michael Ricketts?!). Plenty of strikers go up and score a few premier league goals, and suddenly they're regarded as hot property. Clubs have second season syndrome all the time, which means players do too. So why are so many able to move clubs for big fees based on form from ages ago? I wonder how much Kevin Doyle will go for when Wolves go down. He had a good season or so, and since his record is really poor. Yet I have a feeling he'll be in big demand because for some bizarre reason he's considered a 'proven premiership striker'.

Leeds have been up and down a lot this season, but in this league who hasn't. They might have got near the playoffs under Grayson and I'm sure they will under Warnock. Overall I'll just be cheering them on against WH and Reading.

But Warnock is a proven manager and Leeds underperformed under Grayson. Yes Bates tied his hands; but they have some decent players and were more inconsistent than most NPC teams (remember how they almost conspired to blow their promotion chances in L1). When you're regularly conceding 4 or 5 at home, it doesn't take much to turn things around by doing the simple things right.

Us promoted as Champions, Reading second and automatically promoted, Leeds up via Playoffs, WHU remain in the NPC and live to regret their spending and wage commitments of late. All it needs is Portsmouth to survive yet get relegated and I think that's the perfect end to a season :)

Looking at leeds run in, there defo in with a chance for playoffs

WHU H

Forest H

Millwall A

Waford H

Reading A

Derby H

Posh H

Blackpool A

Cardiff A

Leicester H

If they win most of those games, they'll be in the playoffs, and deservedly so. That's a pretty tough run-in when you've got to make up at least 4 points (teams above have at least 1 game in hand)
