saints_is_the_south Posted 11 March, 2012 Share Posted 11 March, 2012 "It was only when they scored it settled an outstanding team down. "They move the ball quick and pass it well. "It was quite overwhelming at times. They're the best team in the division." Always nice to receive a bit of praise from the opposition. And this with us not even being that great yesterday. Prince Jazzbo Posted 11 March, 2012 Share Posted 11 March, 2012 We need to get over this and believe before we score Do you mean the players or the fans. Some fans have an uncanny knack of slagging of the players, Adkins tactics and selection if we are not smashing the opposition after about 10 minutes. Lighthouse Posted 11 March, 2012 Share Posted 11 March, 2012 Managers usually say nice things about the team that has just beaten them. If they say, 'oh they're the best team in the league, they play wonderful football etc,' it doesn't make their own failure seem quite as bad. If the manager said, 'yeah they were sh*te but they still battered us,' it doesn't reflect too well on his managerial skills. Similarly after a win they always say, 'we knew it was going to be tough, they're a good side' etc. etc. to make their win sound even more impressive. I wouldn't read too much into that, it's all standard stuff.
Crazy Diamond Posted 11 March, 2012 Share Posted 11 March, 2012 He gave a very detailed answer to Tony Husband but the magic of television means you'll only hear a brief clip. He was very complimentary indeed about us. I reckon Keith Hill wouldn't have been as polite in defeat had he been present.

Lighthouse Posted 11 March, 2012 Share Posted 11 March, 2012 We all know what that utter prat warnock said dont we  That blows Lighthouse's theory out of the water tbh I know you're joking, but I think Warnock is normally one of the worst out there. I remember his post match interview after getting battered by Spuds earlier in the season. I thought he was about to drop his trousers and crack one off over Gareth Bale, it was just embarassing. With us he went for the other post match interview, default setting - Their 'keeper played a blinder, on another day we'd have scored 4 or 5. Possession football and setting our own tempo seems easily confused with being poor and not at the races.

Again though, you have to agree with him, as if it wasn't for KD they could have scored that many. We were poor.
