MbaleSaint Posted 15 March, 2012 Share Posted 15 March, 2012 it means you are downstairs (with me). I think we are one of the few sides that have ever taken both tiers. Certainly we haven't before. West Ham, Wolves and not too many others have I think. Stattos? And Norwich last season. (They only let West Ham have upper tier.)

Lifelongsaint83 Posted 15 March, 2012 Share Posted 15 March, 2012 So Barnard should get a place on the bench and Sharp will start. If there's a time to show everyone what he can do its now, perfect time for Sharp to make an impact. Lee will be missed though, hopefully its nothing major. Lighthouse Posted 15 March, 2012 Share Posted 15 March, 2012 Disappointing that Lee is out, but that's why we have back up. Sharp, Barnard and Guly are more than capable strikers although I appreciate the latter is a can of worms. I'd go with Sharp to start and the other two on the bench. Lallana's Left Peg Posted 15 March, 2012 Share Posted 15 March, 2012 Lee was great at stretching the field and making space for others, but this is what we have a big squad for. Opportunity knocks for Sharp now, or even Guly up front and Chaplow, De Ridder, or Puncheon coming into the team / squad. Lee was doing brilliantly but now Sharp can offer us something else and I am sure we'll do well.

Wiggles31 Posted 15 March, 2012 Share Posted 15 March, 2012 We have plenty of cover for Lee and were doing pretty good before he signed so I see no reason to panic. Hope its nothing that will keep him out for too long though. He is brilliant at playing off the shoulder of the defender and getting in behind which creates space for others and gives us another attacking option. Not sure if Sharp plays like this or not. Not seen enough of him yet to judge.

shurlock Posted 15 March, 2012 Share Posted 15 March, 2012 If Sharp starts, would like to see SDR given a chance. Thought the tactics at Watford worked a treat - they squeezed up but we were able to keep them honest with Lee's pace in behind. If Lee can't do that, perhaps SDR can. Saying that he was poor against Millall in the cup and Puncheon shone. Still dont think Chaplow has done nearly enough to start.
Brussels Saint Posted 15 March, 2012 Share Posted 15 March, 2012 Love the fact that we are concerned about losing Lee for this game and may have to rely on 1.8m Billy Sharp, one of the divisions proven best strikers as his replacment! Win or lose, we have come a long way from the not too distant past. Thank you Markus & NC. A simple sentiment and I hope they knew/know how much joy we get from what they did. Danbert Posted 16 March, 2012 Share Posted 16 March, 2012 I now think we're going to win easily. Then scrape a win at Hull, then thrash Donnie. In a week's time we'll be clear at the top. I could see that happening although the Hull game will be very tough - I'd settle for a draw there.
