.then all their games played this season will be expunged (sounds like a plumber at work), and points deducted from teams that beat them.

Boro' and Cardiff have won 4 points of them, whilst West Ham - having beaten them twice - would lose SIX points .

looking at the present table ...and an eventual re-vamp and without points already won ..it would look like this ....

club ..............present points ......points lost .......revised points.

SAINTS -------------66----------------1-----------------65

West Ham----- --65---------------6-----------------59

Reading-------------63----------------3-----------------60

Midd'boro-----------59----------------4-----------------55

Blackpool -----------56----------------1-----------------55

B'ham---------------55----------------0-----------------55

Brighton-------------55---------------3-----------------52

Cardiff---------------54---------------4-----------------50

Hull------------------53---------------3-----------------50

---with the prospect of that happening, it seems fairly clear that , as long as we continue to hold this form...

we get a better breathing space and then it just down to us not to blow it away....

As already mentioned, already covered in umteen places - plus they have been guaranteed £800k by the football league that should see them complete the season.

A gift of £800.000 by the FL to the club down the road is surely unorthodox and open to challenge by other clubs, especially if it is followed by improving results which save the skates from relegation at the expense of another club, I would have thought.

To make it fair to all Championship clubs the FL should gift the same amount to all.

Thoughts?

They already do, read the article properly, it's a payment that every Championship club gets!

In the case of the Portsmouth the payments were suspended pending the outcome of their HMRC case.

It's not a gift, it's just an assurance from the FL that they will receive their due revenues at the appropriate time.

True, I missed the Football League tag. Thanks for pointing it out.

It also says "subject to any outstanding balances owed to other clubs" so PFC may yet have to get agreement from other clubs to waiver outstanding monies due. I wonder if any is due to us?

OK...not surprising, but been away for a while.

still makes nice reading - doesn't it ?

NO. Fortunately it is not going to happen but it would be bad for us if it did. It is not the points gained against Pompey that are relevant but the points dropped. Our main rivals (Reading) actually lost to the skates and would effectively gain a point on us which would put them in the driving seat. Gaining the two points on West Ham would be some compensation but its Reading we have to worry about not West Ham.

In think it is very unlikely Portsmouth will be liquidated before the end of the season. The payments from the League seem to likely negate the chance of that happening. If we do go up, I hope it is down to us, and not our friends down the M27 having their results for the season expunged

But West Ham would have an extra game in hand?

Which they would play on the weekend we weren't playing Portsmouth.

It's all academic now anyway, looks like the £200k a month payments to Championship clubs MIGHT bail them out until May.

If their games were expunged, it would be down to us finishing top or second over a 44 match season. Nothing to do with them.

To be fair Reading just beat the skates midweek, so will look a little different every time they play. Team at the top.

If its true that their running costs are £8.5m a season, £800k over the next four months still wont help them.

There are TWO main issues for PFC to survive. The 1st is whether they have the cash to survive to the end of the season and fulfill all the fixtures. But the 2nd is whether they can find a buyer - they cant trade in Administration for ever. As I understand it, any buyer with any sort of medium term intention will need to rebuild the stadium (unlike SFC) and to do this, they need to buy the land around the stadium (unlike SFC) which is owned by 2 x former chairmen who are owed £20+ million. This is all on top of making an offer to the Administrator and investing in the team.

My view FWIW is that they will make it to the end of the season but there must be huge doubt about any sale
