Adkins and Lambert

Odd how someone who got a team promoted from lg1 to top of the championship for most of the season hasnt won any of the 7 awards so far this season.

Can only be a good thing for us though, keep him under the radar!

I see from the OS that they have both nominated for the monthly awards. I am right in saying that NA has been nominated before but never won it? It always used to be the kiss of death. Do we want him to win it?

Both are deserved though.

The Reading manager is clearly going to win it with 7 straight wins - I'd be happier if Nigel wins March and April and Manager of the Year. Typical quirk of the results that he hasn't won one yet.

Also, as Reading are about to hit a run of tricky matches, it'll give more credence to the myth of the MoM curse.

As for the player awards, they're a load of crap based on 10 seconds of highlights usually, and I couldn't care less.

I can see Lambert winning the player of the month award (and the player of the season award to boot), but I agree with others that McDermott will get the manager of the month vote. Adkins must be the most under appreciated manager ever if we do achieve promotion, although to get promotion he'll have to string a run of results together that would probably win him manager of the month in March or April anyway.

Seems odd to me that Lambert is nominated for player of the month in a month when he only scored in 1 league game. Admittedly it was a hat-trick, but he was actually going through quite a lean spell in terms of scoring in February until Watford. Of course there are other aspects to his game, but the people that choose these things don't usually look too deeply at what players have actually done.

I agree here, didn't we only concede only 1 goal in Feb? I'd have thought Jos might have been a better bet.

I think that we are coming known as the "Ricky Lambert team" by lazy journalists and the tw*ts who run the likes of Talk Sh**e. The Mirror's review of Tuesday night even took the angle that Ricky is in line for an international call up. I expect that there will be more comments like "Ricky Lambert who else " whenever we are mentioned. His goalscoring record and his size mean that he is seen as just a big goalscoring centre forward.

Last year we were known as the Oxlade Chamberlain team. The fact that hedidn't really come through until mid October and he missed the run in didn't really matter. Everyone knew that we were f**ked when he was sold .... and that under estimation was a major reason for this season's flying start.

So if Reading's keeper has won the award, presumably for playing well(!), that suggests that their run of form hasn't been solely down to them playing brilliantly outfield...?

My mate is a Reading fan and said they have played pretty poor recently but keep grinding our results. He said had they been playing a top half team instead of the skates, they would have been rolled over.

Makes me a touch less nervous about them.

That's what I was thinking... we have nothing to fear, just gotta concentrate on our own performances.

Good, the less attention on Lallana the better. By far our best player, has been for the last two seasons IMHO. If he could sort out his shooting that guy is International Class.

This is a stupid post. Lambert is far and away are best player. Lallana was very good last season but this season went missing from oct-jan. How anyone can say lambert isnt our best player is beyond me. He isnt just about goals but sets up so many moves too. Lambert will win champ player of year.
