Ivan Katalinic's 'tache Posted 6 March, 2012 Posted 6 March, 2012 ...to start on Sat vs Barnsley? What does everyone reckon? Sharp for me as he offers the greatest goal threat of the 3. Lee has been doing well but will he score enough goals?
Colinjb Posted 6 March, 2012 Posted 6 March, 2012 Start with Sharp and use Lee's energy to kill them when they tire.
ART Posted 6 March, 2012 Posted 6 March, 2012 Start with Sharp and use Lee's energy to kill them when they tire. Thoroughly agree will you Colin.
Colinjb Posted 6 March, 2012 Posted 6 March, 2012 Thoroughly agree will you Colin. I just feel that Sharp showed enough hunger against Burnley and a great hint of a partnership with Rickie to be given a start to cement it. Lee works wonderfully with Rickie too, but he would be better against tired legs, like v Derby.
pingwing Posted 6 March, 2012 Posted 6 March, 2012 Lee, Sharp in his few games really hasn't looked much better than what we have/ quite right for the set up of the team (needs a bit of work). Lee has the enthusiasm and at least some ability in the air, bringing something a little extra to the side.
dvaughanwilliams Posted 6 March, 2012 Posted 6 March, 2012 Lee has played well recently. He hasn't had a lot of shooting opportunities, apart from the wonderful goal he scored. His link up play is very good. His main weakness appears to be his strength on the ball. I don't know what Barnsley's defence is like: if they're fouling ogres, I'd play Sharp as he can hold the ball up well and you can't doubt his strength; if they play a relatively high line I'd play Lee, who got a lot of joy running in behind Ipswich's defence.
S-Clarke Posted 6 March, 2012 Posted 6 March, 2012 Lee's done nothing wrong, he should keep his place. Sharp offered zilch when he came on.
Mowgli Posted 6 March, 2012 Posted 6 March, 2012 Bit of a no brainier really. A player who will do well for us long term but has not had the chance to really prove himself yet against a player who thrills the crowd almost every time he touches the ball. Has to be Lee for now but tonight, the style of play was to miss out the midfield and gt the ball to him quickly in the hope his pace would split the defence. That is not the wonderful passing game that has taken us to the top of the table. Hopefully it was chosen specifically for the Ipswich game and we will mix it a bit for Barnsley
Jack Posted 6 March, 2012 Posted 6 March, 2012 Lee was quality tonight. I know Sharp hasn't had much time, but his touch has been poor when he's played. Lee will be a very good player for us
SaintSteve Posted 6 March, 2012 Posted 6 March, 2012 Sorry Guys but I would go back to Lambert/Guly up front. Lee will not provide goals, although runs the channels well enough. Sharp looks like a fat pudding and Connelly is past his sell by date; an off the bench option. Remember who has scored the goals this season.
Avenue Saint Posted 6 March, 2012 Posted 6 March, 2012 Lee has looked very good so far. With further games together, he and lambert can build up a very complimentary partnership I feel. Not to take anything away from Sharp who ironically now it seems will take longer to settle than Lee! Funny how certain posters were putting a downer on signing lee and advocating signing Sharp instead as it was guaranteed that "Lee will take time to settle" It will all come good...
jampot Posted 6 March, 2012 Posted 6 March, 2012 Lee was quality tonight. I know Sharp hasn't had much time, but his touch has been poor when he's played. Lee will be a very good player for us Agreed, Lee was excellent tonight.
