had a blip last season too during the December & January period?

Surely is not just Chaplow missing that caused it!

Also if you had to select the team of the year for the championship how many players from Saints would get in?

I would go with Lallana, Lambert, Fox & Jos.

I'm a bit of a revisionist on the "all about Chaplow" line. Don't think he'd have made much difference. For some reason or other we couldn't score from shedloads of chances and the opposition could, from a one off break more often than not.I think NA got the midfield structure wrong by insisting on Morgan and Hammond being the forward elements and Cork being the hindmost. Then we had the CB troubles, either Jose or Jos but never the 2 at the same time ,José is a vital attack building platform but without Jos

he doesn't seem to have the liberty to do that. The strike force went mute as well and the blip gained ground.

Human nature I guess.....come out of the traps on fire and with foot to the floor in the 1st third of the 'race'.... get a little fatigued and/or battle weary and/or complacent during the 2nd third (in other words, take foot off pedal somewhat)......re-group and sprint for the finish in the last third of the race....

Chaplow is not the messiah!!!! (he's a bald guy with a bad knee...)

Christmas blip was a combination of a horrible set of injuries and Lambert suspension (highlighting a slight lack of depth in the squad that the transfer window has sorted out a bit).

Its been and gone thankfully

Everything and everyone seemed to go wrong at once. Lallana was out of form because of just coming back from injury, and it took several games to recover from Chappers going down in the first 10 minutes at Brizzle. Defensive instability affected the side too, particularly at CB. Even a breath of fresh air helped us get back to form really, as Puncheon, Lee and Sharp coming back/in coincided with injury returns and everyone back to their best.

Focus on the now.

Also, after our awesome start and believing that we're amazing, we went and lost a few games which can have a detrimental effect when confidence has been so high, with us feeling so invincible. The Doncaster/Blackpool/Pompey/Bristol City games were the start of the blip where our scoring in every game went & winning every game at home went, plus we lost to 2 of the bottom sides, would have hurt the team. Although I agree with adriansfc, that the injuries/suspensions/weather all play a factor.
