Adkins' Interviews

I'm a massive fan of Adkins, but his interviews aren't getting any better are they? Just heard the one on the BBC website where he said (about Lallana):

"We don't want to let the opposition know, but I'd be very surprised if he wasn't on the teamsheet"

The original interview was on Saints Player yesterday. My obvservations about it on the match build up thread: http://www.saintsweb.co.uk/showthread.php?36256-Saints-vs-Ipswich-Build-Up&p=1293346#post1293346

I see in Nigel's Saints Player interview yesterday afternoon that he was saying how Lallana's had a cracking training session...."twisting, turning, raring to go, back to his best....etc, etc" and then gets asked the obligatory "Will he start tomorrow?" question. Cue the equally obligatory Adkins reply: "We don't want to give anything away to the opposition, do we?".

But, having gone to the trouble of telling the world and his dog that Lallana was 'back to his best' before being asked said obligatory question, my reading-between-the-lines of the situation is that Adam will start on the bench.....i.e. he wants Jewell to think that Lallana is starting....

IMHO of course

Don't give a monkeys what he says in his interviews to be fair, must be tedious for any manager to face the same questions week in week out. I think he's very tatical and deliberate in everything he says even if it sounds a little gibberish.

At least he is always polite and pleasant which is more than can be said of most other managers.

Spot on. It's quite clear that he has a public/interview persona and conducts himself differently (but still very professionally) in the dressing room (and even on the touchline as we saw on Saturday!).

The very fact that Nigel said Lallana is fit and 'back to his best', yet we still can't be sure whether he'll start or not just highlights how media savvy he is.

He's great when it comes to keeping the opposition guessing in terms of who's fit and who isn't.
