Apologies for possibly the most boring thread ever, but we need our living room and stairs carpeted. Anyone got any recommendations on who to use or who to avoid (in Eastleigh/Soton area)?

 

Would rather use an independent 'small' firm, but as ever, value for money is the main factor.

Try Scott Martin. local guy from Totton.We just had 2 stairs and hallway done by him. Very reasonable and happy with the work. He was recommended to us and we are happy to do the same.

Simon Callaway from Hedge End is excellent. One man band but great value and service.

Anthony Forfar Interiors - near the stadium - family owned for donkey's years - and big saints fans - think they do discount for season ticket holders

Bob Collins - cheap as ****e for installation but great job. Will supply as well.

We had to do the best part of a house recently, had looked in JLP - all very samey. Paid a visit to Carpetshoite, as that was all that was on offer in Blazingsmoke, and was very uninspired, so returned to where we went 21 years previously, Downs Carpets in Newbury. Within 40 minutes we had sorted Stairs, landing, dining, living, and bedrooms, all at a very reasonable price.

 

They have a Branch up at Winnall in Winchester and would imagine that delivery to Southampton is on their patch.

 

Whatever you decide on get decent underlay, not the Waffly cheapo stuff. Cloud9 is the stuff most carpet fitters recommend, bought that independently off the Internet from a company in Hull at a very good price.

Really grateful to all who have replied. A few weeks before we start looking properly, but we will definitely look into some of these recommendations.
