Matthew Le God Posted 5 March, 2012 Share Posted 5 March, 2012 He tried signing Rickie Lambert in the summer....? Yep, he said that before we played them earlier in the season as well. Really is amazing Jewell thought that was ever going to happen. He hasn't a clue.

chocco boxo Posted 5 March, 2012 Share Posted 5 March, 2012 He will have them fired up, PJ teams know how to play act , time waste and all the other tricks that can frustrate a big expectant home crowd! saying that I am going for 4-0 Saints. doddisalegend Posted 5 March, 2012 Author Share Posted 5 March, 2012 Just making his excuses for (possibly) getting battered before the game starts. Yeah that's what I thought if he loses he has already prepared the fans for it...if they win he can make out what a great manager he is to beat such a good team..... Dr Who? Posted 5 March, 2012 Share Posted 5 March, 2012 much like us going for gary hooper this season I think this was on the back of Nigel managing Hooper in the past. When we go up, I would not be surprised if we get him.
S-Clarke Posted 5 March, 2012 Share Posted 5 March, 2012 I think this was on the back of Nigel managing Hooper in the past. When we go up, I would not be surprised if we get him. We'll probably try for Rooney then!!

VectisSaint Posted 5 March, 2012 Share Posted 5 March, 2012 "They've got the Japanese lad whose name I can't quite say". It's LEE, quite easy really, even for a scouser. Apparently tried to sign Connolly as well.
Matthew Le God Posted 5 March, 2012 Share Posted 5 March, 2012 Apparently tried to sign Connolly as well. He doesn't say that at all. He says "I also signed", i.e. when Jewell was Wigan manager he signed Connolly.

dronskisaint Posted 6 March, 2012 Share Posted 6 March, 2012 He slated us when we dicked them. Don't care what others think. He is right though. He said that they made us look like Real Madrid at times....wrong on two counts - more like Brazil and we made ourselves look that good in that game. Still have the 'Bra-zil..we are the South Coast Brazil' ringing in my ears..we were unplayable at times that night and I really believe that we have matured since then . Jewell is playing simple-scouser mind games and we should not take them in any way lightly but we should have enough to see them off.
stevegrant Posted 6 March, 2012 Share Posted 6 March, 2012 He said that they made us look like Real Madrid at times....wrong on two counts - more like Brazil and we made ourselves look that good in that game. To be fair, their defence was an absolute shambles that night, and it was proven to not be a one-off for them as four days later they shipped 7 at Peterborough. stevegrant Posted 6 March, 2012 Share Posted 6 March, 2012 "The top 2 have probably got the 2 biggest wage bills" Leicester? Birmingham? Birmingham's would have been higher at the start of the season, not so sure now they've moved on a load of their higher earners. Add Pompey to that list as well before they decided to stop paying the wages.
Sour Mash Posted 6 March, 2012 Share Posted 6 March, 2012 "The top 2 have probably got the 2 biggest wage bills" Leicester? Birmingham? Well West Ham definitely do. Not sure about us, but we won't be too far off the top, lots of contracts upgraded around the summer, Cork was offered high wages to come here as well I believe. Add Pompey to that list as well before they decided to stop paying the wages. I'd wager that our salary mass for players and coaches was far higher than Pompey's once we'd signed Jos and Fox and might have been at least equivalent even before then. A lot of lads are rumoured to make a lot of money at SMS, especially with the start to the season that we had, the old win bonuses must have been a weighty sum.
