trousers Posted 6 March, 2012 Share Posted 6 March, 2012 Two things: Why do people think it is worthwhile, as a Saints fan to engage with them on their forum. I have a look from time to time, but to get into conversations etc. that StuRomseySaint, what a knob! Might as well be one of them, isnt he a Nick illingworth wannabee anyway? And the other. Why are we calling them Pompey? Its their ****ing nickname ffs, do you think they call us Saints? They should be known as either Portsmouth or better still, 'the lot down the road', Pompey, about as cringeworthy as Bompey! It's because we're more intelligent than your average football fan and thus rise above the playground insults by calling them 'Pompey'. I believe the statutory ending to this post is: HTH

Have you not considered that it reinforces our superiority over them when we rise above them? The older generation usually refer to them and the city of Portsmouth as Pompey, so what's changed? The9 Posted 6 March, 2012 Share Posted 6 March, 2012 It's because we're more intelligent than your average football fan and thus rise above the playground insults by calling them 'Pompey'. I believe the statutory ending to this post is: HTH I like "Skate Cheats FC" for them, lest we forget. I am already far superior to all of them and also have the moral high ground, so I don't really care if people think I'm stooping to their level, because I assure you I am still far and away better than them, up here in my ivory tower where the air smells of cinnamon. Window Cleaner Posted 6 March, 2012 Share Posted 6 March, 2012 Is Pompey not what Portsmouth is traditionally called. Can't remember the place ever having any other name than Pompey. When I was a kid you went east to Pompey and north east'ish to "The Smoke".On rare home visits from Uni my Grandad always asked about life in "The Smoke" in general and the Union Jack Club in particular, used to make stuff up about the Union Jack though because I never actually went there, think it was across from Waterloo though. dvaughanwilliams Posted 6 March, 2012 Share Posted 6 March, 2012 I'd be happy with a draw and both teams finishing with 9 men. And lots of injuries to key players.

Dark Munster Posted 6 March, 2012 Share Posted 6 March, 2012 I'd be happy with a draw and both teams finishing with 9 men. And lots of injuries to key players. Rather generous. How about both teams finishing with 6 men, match abandoned, 0 points each?
CHAPEL END CHARLIE Posted 6 March, 2012 Share Posted 6 March, 2012 Regardless of what we might want Reading will almost certainly prove to be way too good for Pompey methinks - could even be a proper 3 or 4 goal thrashing.
