trousers Posted 5 March, 2012 Posted 5 March, 2012 http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2110166/Southampton-boss-Nigel-Adkins-keeping-close-chest.html Nice article.
Gemmel Posted 5 March, 2012 Posted 5 March, 2012 Nice article. Indeed. The bit about everyone would be gushing if he had been a high profile player, is soooooooo true, but actually it probably suits us better with him being a lwer profile. If he gets us up and keeps us up, I am not sure how long we will hold onto him for. His managerial stats are incredible and he will have already caught the eye of plenty of Premiership Chairmen.
jasoneuelllfanclub Posted 5 March, 2012 Posted 5 March, 2012 interesting that warnock seems to have inside knowledge of our finances. He was quoted as saying about us going for top quality players at the moment before the game then here he is saying about us having nothing to fear about going up and suggesting we will have plenty of financial backing.
Andy Durman Posted 5 March, 2012 Posted 5 March, 2012 Its like golf we've got a great round going, but we've still got 4 holes to play and we all know what can happen. They maybe easy holes, but you've still got to keep your nerve and concentrate. Not get ahead of yourself. One shot one swing at a time. In Nigel We Trust!!!!!!!!!
qwertySFC Posted 5 March, 2012 Posted 5 March, 2012 Then, finally, a tiny crack - 'Obviously you always plan. There's a lot of planning' - although it was followed immediately by: 'But there are a lot of situations that could arise.' Read more: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2110166/Southampton-boss-Nigel-Adkins-keeping-close-chest.html#ixzz1oEeOptCg The man should be in politics ... But a quality manager in all aspects - no bull****, no over the top statements - one day at a time

buctootim Posted 5 March, 2012 Posted 5 March, 2012 My favourite part "The bottom three clubs in the division - Coventry, Doncaster and disintegrating neighbours, Portsmouth - have yet to visit St Mary's."
ray kemish Posted 5 March, 2012 Posted 5 March, 2012 Hmm - attendances 6000 down on last year's average, according to the article - £36 per ticket (plus another £36 if I paid for my student son). Any guesses why the attendances might be down?
ThreeSixty Posted 5 March, 2012 Posted 5 March, 2012 For ages i read the title as Adkins in Mali wondered why he was taking a holiday the day before a game! (Or a scouting trip)

tisspahars Posted 5 March, 2012 Posted 5 March, 2012 Personally, I would say there is no chance of 80 points being enough.....
Thedelldays Posted 5 March, 2012 Posted 5 March, 2012 80 points is hardly enough IMO, given readings run in...meaning that teams all around are have no choice but to drop points...85 will be enough for the autos 6 wins and 2 draws
Sour Mash Posted 5 March, 2012 Posted 5 March, 2012 80 points is hardly enough IMO, given readings run in...meaning that teams all around are have no choice but to drop points...85 will be enough for the autos 6 wins and 2 draws I reckon 85 would even be tight. I'd take 90 points if offered them now though.

They maybe easy holes, but you've still got to keep your nerve and concentrate. Not get ahead of yourself. One shot one swing at a time. In Nigel We Trust!!!!!!!!! Well Rory made it past the "Bear Trap" yesterday so there's no reason why we shouldn't either, however 80 pts is no way going to be enough!!
VectisSaint Posted 5 March, 2012 Posted 5 March, 2012 I reckon 85 would even be tight. I'd take 90 points if offered them now though. Reckon 89 will probably just be enough, but could be more.
Son of Bob Posted 5 March, 2012 Posted 5 March, 2012 I reckon the top 4 will all finish on 80 points+ this season. I can see it being a repeat of last season in League 1 with the 3rd (and possibly 4th) placed teams chasing the top 2 until the last game.
toofarnorth Posted 5 March, 2012 Posted 5 March, 2012 Parallels of last season with Reading playing the role of Huddersfield in my eyes. Lets hope the story unfolds the same way as last season. I know the opposition are tougher but a lot of our players will be used to the pressure this situation brings from having last years experience. Arguably the pressure then was far greater as the expectation was greater.
lotois-saint Posted 5 March, 2012 Posted 5 March, 2012 I reckon 85 would even be tight. I'd take 90 points if offered them now though. I have looked at the tables for the last 6 seasons and averaged them; 85/86 should be enough for 2nd place and 92/93 for 1st.
Sour Mash Posted 5 March, 2012 Posted 5 March, 2012 I have looked at the tables for the last 6 seasons and averaged them; 85/86 should be enough for 2nd place and 92/93 for 1st. Doesn't particularly matter what has happened in previous years.
krissyboy31 Posted 5 March, 2012 Posted 5 March, 2012 The way Reading are going, we're going to need closer to 90 than 80 points.
Doctoroncall Posted 5 March, 2012 Posted 5 March, 2012 Doesn't particularly matter what has happened in previous years. Wasn't Huddersfield's total last season a record for a third place team? It would be nice to get as close to the 2 points a game mark again.
mitch01 Posted 5 March, 2012 Posted 5 March, 2012 85 will do it I'd imagine, Reading's run won't go on forever. If it does, fair play to them. Anyway WHU are hardly guaranteed to finish above us. 6 points from these two home games and we're in business.
Golden Balls Posted 5 March, 2012 Posted 5 March, 2012 The Reading game at SMS is going to be massive. Win that and we could be so close.
