dvaughanwilliams Posted 6 March, 2012 Posted 6 March, 2012 Interesting (perhaps) that Hammond is still captain even though he's not guaranteed a starting place these days. There's a certain train of thought that points to having one of the 'automatic choice' players as captain. Hey no. No great shakes I guess. I thought that KD remains club captain, but Pardew decided that he wouldn't be captain on the pitch and that has continued. I'm not sure how important the captaincy is. Fonte seems to do alright at it, Richardson was captain at Leeds and there are a lot of other leaders on the pitch; when things need saying Lambert and Lallana don't hold back at expressing their opinions too. Can't see Jos and Fox as shrinking violets either.
Saint Garrett Posted 6 March, 2012 Posted 6 March, 2012 Wouldn't have thought it was Richardson seeing as though when he was injured we still didnt have a keeper on the bench. Cork maybe ?
M271 Posted 6 March, 2012 Posted 6 March, 2012 I think Richardson is that player I hope that he is better than Blackstock was at Newcastle !!!

I remember reading somewhere that it was Richardson. Perhaps when he was injured we had a back up back up outfield goalie

Perhaps when he was injured we had a back up back up outfield goalie Told you the other day, Morgan's dad was a pretty handy keeper, probably decent League 2 standard at worst and Morgan probably knows what keeping is about. It's a football family, his Mum played for a pretty decent ladies side as well

Not just having one captain on the pitch, but many, all of whom are happy to shout, direct, lead, encourage, praise, support and push their teammates as it's needed. I think we have plenty of people in the squad capable of this, so who the armband goes to isn't as important.
Window Cleaner Posted 6 March, 2012 Posted 6 March, 2012 Tax evading? In Italy it may be a national sport but if you pay it like I do it's extortionate. Well we pay, but you can deduct a hell of a lot here in France. Don't pay as much as we would in the UK.
dune Posted 6 March, 2012 Posted 6 March, 2012 Empire of the seas is just starting on bbc 4. That's pre match entertainment sorted!
Minsk Posted 6 March, 2012 Posted 6 March, 2012 I hope that he is better than Blackstock was at Newcastle !!! So long as he doesnt concede any more (none) we will be fine (not that I ever want to have to find out!!)

Stu Man Do Posted 6 March, 2012 Posted 6 March, 2012 I hope that he is better than Blackstock was at Newcastle !!! Better than a clean sheet? :-s
ericofarabia Posted 6 March, 2012 Posted 6 March, 2012 Feeling a bit shabby tonight. Up drinking for 24 hours - carnage of The Hangover proportions!! Fell asleep by the pool and a completely lobstered tender as feck but sporting red and white patches!! COYS
M271 Posted 6 March, 2012 Posted 6 March, 2012 Better than a clean sheet? :-s That was more by luck than judgement. My original statement was more about his obvious lack of goal keeping skill rather than the result on the day, and hoping that we now have an outfield player with some goal keeping aptitude.
