Players After The Game

Supported saints for over 40 years. Got to be in the top 3 best moments I have seen. Along with winning F.a. cup and Kevin Keegan signing.

Everything came right, class, class goal one of the best goalkeeping displays ever, seeing our fantastic team spirit and watching that arse Warnock being wronged again.

If that wasnt a season defining game we just watched I dont know what is.

Saw this last night (3am-ish) as I watched a very good stream from Sky sports, but brilliant to see this again in the cold light of day.

It's so difficult being away when your team are playing so brilliantly and sitting at the top of the league, but when you manage to get a decent stream the late nights and the worrying are all made worth while. And these videos are a great reminder. Thanks.

remember when people ridiculed adkins for the constant talk of "together as one"..."all in it together" when he first arrived

it is pretty darn clear the environment he was creating for the club..

Never miss an opp to knock fellow fans eh.

That reaction from the all the players and staff was immense - they knew just how important that win was and lauded Kelvin and rightly so. We have belief, passion and skill in this side which when mixed in the right proportions make us a very tough team to beat - great to see at this stage of the season! Pressure back on Wham et al now.

It is really strange how the club has re-kindled the "Spirit".

It's no coincidence our demise and rise from the ashes of despair brought a unity. As fans some of us (no names) became complaicent, we could never go down and all that. The Management and owners concentrated on having the best catering, and players we could afford...now what a turn around.

We have a Manager who love or hate his mannerisms and sayings gives us a belief. How many Managers in the past talked about the team rather than the squad? He rarely talks about "I" it's always "We" - and he includes the fans in the "We".

We have a squad of hungry players desperate to play at the highest level, rather than players who seemed to settle for second best. It's unfair to point the finger at the teams that got relegated, but there was a massive difference to the experience and age of the players that saw us relegated from The Championship last time.

I have 40+ years of following Saints, and all I have ever wanted in the last 10-years is players who want it, give their all, with honesty and heart.

There is part of my footballing brain that goes out to Pompey fans - they lived the dream, spent the cash, and through no fault of the fans find themselves deep in the brown stuff. I can't see anyway back for them, which makes our good fortune all the more remarkable.

I was one of Lowe's biggest critics - but let's be fair, he did put everything in place to make us an attractive investment. What would attract anyone to the shambles down the M27?

Some might say we have bought this success. People said last year we were a Championship team in League 1. We could afford decent players like Lambert, Fonte & Hammond who are all clearly very capable at this level. The difference is we have the one thing to make this all work - a hunger. Not sure about Adkins hunger - he obviously thrives on the consistency, one together, and a squad ethos. We don't have prima donnas, we don't carry players week in and week out. We take one game at a time. Unlike the Billy Davies's of this world he seems to be a very controlled and humble man - I get the feeling he's everybodies best friend.

How lucky are we?

12-games to go - Ipswich on Tuesday. One game at a time. Not too high when we win and not too low when we drop points.

We are in this together.

We can do this if we stick together.

Going to the first person - I feel part of it - I want to make a difference.

There can be no greater driver - "Win it for Markus"

Coming second is a way to an end - but let's put another trophy in the cabinet.

Got to agree with all the statements here about unity, despite all the great things we've seen this season and last - i'll never forget THAT celebration at Fratton when Rickie scored - one of my favourite moments is a funny one.

I can't remember who it was against but Fonte was having a bit of a mare and made a mistake, in times gone by you'd have heard the grumbles and moans but instead what happened instead was the entire Northam singing his name.

This team really does feel like it's Ours and i haven't had that since the days of Matty, Franny and Dodd. Players that will give their all for the club and some who i really do think are Southampton through and through.

Good times, let's just hope if we make the prem' that spirit doesn't go.

We do have a laugh at the adkinisms all pulling together grabbing an oar, all aboard the bus now known as the busboat. But he is just such a positive person, his attitude hasn't changed all season long. Even when flying at the start of the season & through that rough ten game period, when it looked like we'd lost our way, his belief in the style of play & his squad was unshakable.

The squad are as one & that spirit will always give you a chance even when your having an off day.

Thanks for posting that video it was great last night & just shows what it means to them all. Adkins appears to be keeping all their feet on the ground as well. Long may it continue! WIFM

"Duno how the **** you got away with that" says Warnock LOL. Love Tadanari's little celebration as well. Quality!!

Quality vid.

Had to look for Tadanari but cracked up when I saw it, brilliant.

Love the team spirit, and Kelvin just amazing. Seems to be a genuine bloke just playing football.

Love it.

Great post.

Re NA. HE is our twelfth man.

When we were in the January doldrums he never lost faith in the team and rallied everyone. On the pitchside he is all action and involvement. (compare with previous managers - Pardew and Burley, arms folded passively watching, Redknapp sitting twitching. Nicoa knew what he was doing when he appointed Adkins) Yes the SOS has been rekindled and spirited as ever!

When you see the goal, watch Tadanari turn round and leg it like a bullet away in celebration - there isn't much of it shown, but he looks like he's never gonna stop!!
