CFSFC Posted 3 March, 2012 Posted 3 March, 2012 Sounded loud in the ground just wondered how loud it was on the tele?
Saints foreva Posted 3 March, 2012 Posted 3 March, 2012 Heard yellows a few times but that was about it.
CFSFC Posted 3 March, 2012 Author Posted 3 March, 2012 Saints I obviously meant. Leeds were dead quiet.
Surrey Saint Posted 3 March, 2012 Posted 3 March, 2012 Saints fans sounded in good voice. In particular heard 'when the saints' very clearly. Also 'We are Southampton, we're top of the league' after we scored.
latter day saint Posted 3 March, 2012 Posted 3 March, 2012 2nd half was louder. Heard "Yellows" a few times & a nice long OWTS. Pat on the back to those who went
paulwantsapint Posted 3 March, 2012 Posted 3 March, 2012 Your grounds too big for you Felt sorry for the 10 Leeds fans in top tier is their bo really that bad ?
dubai_phil Posted 3 March, 2012 Posted 3 March, 2012 Great atmosphere in the pub over here ended up with about 8 Saints fans & 15 or so Leeds. Got mental towards the end the oohs and aaghhs from us with each KD save were as loud as the Leeds. As for the TV, it got better & better, the local Al Jism 'tater commented on it after about 80 mis that it was all Saints fans trying to rally the team. Thought the fans who went today did us proud in those last 10 -15 mins and had heard plenty of OWTS & Sloop John B derivatives before that, Really do NOT like Leeds fans but we all felt we had to go say how the feck did you not score 6 at the end.... That really didn't help their mood at all either
Patrick Bateman Posted 3 March, 2012 Posted 3 March, 2012 Sounded loud in the ground just wondered how loud it was on the tele? Sounded good mate, not sure where the mics where, but heard the Leeds fans a couple of times, but heard Saints more often - OWTS, top of league, Southampton's goal machine and an EIEIEIO etc. Great stuff!!

Griffo Posted 4 March, 2012 Posted 4 March, 2012 Last 20 mins of constant OWTS has left my throat f*cked.
BadgerBadger Posted 4 March, 2012 Posted 4 March, 2012 Didn't hear f all from the TV but the atmosphere was there in bundles - I kicked every ball of that game
maxi_sopez Posted 4 March, 2012 Posted 4 March, 2012 My throat is so sore. Really please i went, glad i can say i was there! Was also enjoyable watching the players not picked kicking every ball and going equally mental! See you all at Hull!

sotonjoe Posted 4 March, 2012 Posted 4 March, 2012 1900 away fans I heard. Good effort really when the atmosphere there was probably poorer than in most pubs in Southampton.
Sour Mash Posted 4 March, 2012 Posted 4 March, 2012 1900 away fans I heard. Good effort really when the atmosphere there was probably poorer than in most pubs in Southampton. Was nowhere near that. Not put that much effort into supporting the team for a very long time. Hope it came across a bit.

rick1976.4.38 Posted 4 March, 2012 Posted 4 March, 2012 according to the jobsworths up there we had 800
Orange Posted 4 March, 2012 Posted 4 March, 2012 Made it a memorable trip, the non stop singing throughout the second half. OWTS went on for 20 odd minutes. Behind the players right till the end.
LGTL Posted 4 March, 2012 Posted 4 March, 2012 We stopped in at St Marys on the way yesterday to pick up Hull tickets, and the TO said we had sold just over 1000 for Leeds. Decent effort.
svetigpung Posted 4 March, 2012 Posted 4 March, 2012 Loved our longgggg rendition of OWTS through the second half, especially Leeds were putting us under some pressure. It actually kept me calmer. Well done us all. Leeds support was sh1te.
dronskisaint Posted 4 March, 2012 Posted 4 March, 2012 Respect to those there...great noise and loved the 'Your ground's too big for you' loud and clear for the worldwide audience. Hoping for more on Tuesday - am bringing a fairly Brit-savvy Yank for his first ever sarker match with instructions to join in loudly!
svetigpung Posted 4 March, 2012 Posted 4 March, 2012 Respect to those there...great noise and loved the 'Your ground's too big for you' loud and clear for the worldwide audience. Enjoyed that one. Did anyone else notice the senior copper there even laughing at that one. Classic.
Berkshire Saint Posted 4 March, 2012 Posted 4 March, 2012 Decent atmosphere. Don't understand the few comments about Leeds support being ****...their kids in the South Stand weren't great but the North Stand lot were pretty ****ing loud. Been to about 35 grounds now and would have Leeds home fans as up there amongst the noisiest.
Sour Mash Posted 5 March, 2012 Posted 5 March, 2012 Even better effort in terms of support when you consider the huge levels of over the top stewarding and policing of the away end, with the aim of trying to bully supporters into sitting Down.
WHITEE1987 Posted 5 March, 2012 Posted 5 March, 2012 The stewarding was over the top i agree. However in no way do i think they were trying to bully us. We were free to stand up if we so wished without any sort of restriction from the stewards. I was warned not to use my electronic cigarette in the ground to which my reply "you should really have some f*****g signs up then shoudlnt ya?" He just walked off and ignored me. The police were very friendly as one even took my side on the ecig situation. Oh and he was routing for Saints. Dont really understand why people were sitting down especially as most of the fans had spent numerous hours sitting on the journey up, surely you would want to stretch you legs.

The majority were sat because they were made to by the stewards. That's my point. On the right-hand side of our support at kick off was completely stood, within a minute it was 75% sat down as the stewards got busy. My lot had to move twice during the game to be able to remain standing, at no time were we blocking the views of others. You're right that most of the police were laid back, but then so they should be with hundreds on duty to cover what was a low-key, low-supported game, not surprised they were relaxed. Oh, apart from the copper standing at the front who was training his camera on different sections of our support every 2 minutes. Guess that's what the £36 match ticket goes towards paying for. WHITEE1987 Posted 5 March, 2012 Posted 5 March, 2012 Fair play i didnt realise they were made to sit down by the stewards. I was over on the left and the people in front of me were all sat down but no one asked/told me to sit. Think the £36 is to cover the loss of all the empty seat tbh!
rick1976.4.38 Posted 5 March, 2012 Posted 5 March, 2012 the stewards on the right made us sit straight after ko,the old bill didnt seem that bothered,my son and i moved along and more to the back and never had any trouble after that, those down the front were the most affected.mind you,if no one sat when told to what are they going to do?kick us all out? mind you its along way to go to be ejected.thank god we wont be going back there for awhile
Orange Posted 5 March, 2012 Posted 5 March, 2012 I was kicked out for having a junior ticket. Despite the fact its not my fault, got an away ST and thats what the club sent me. I had 32 quid on me, and they wouldn't even take that the jobsworth b*stards. So had to walk to a cash point and take more out, on top of the 28 quid original ticket. One utter c*nt on the turnstiles in a suit who was pulling all the strings. Wouldn't let me take my flag in either. Come in 10 minutes late, Lambert volleys it home, class.
This Charming Man Posted 5 March, 2012 Posted 5 March, 2012 My throat was f*cked after the 15min rendition of OWTS. Legs cut to pieces from the goal celebration as well. They'd only just recovered from WHU.

Good job we got the result. Maybe you can get the money back off the ticket office. Handclaps to you anyway!!!!!!!!!!!!
Orange Posted 5 March, 2012 Posted 5 March, 2012 That's rough, mate. Good job we got the result. Maybe you can get the money back off the ticket office. Handclaps to you anyway!!!!!!!!!!!! They were not a nice bunch, kept saying 'thats southampton's fault not ours'. Were never going to let me just pay the difference. 65 odd quid, worth every penny mind! One of them thought he was being nice saying, 'i can direct you to a pub if you want', i've just come 5 hours you nonce.

Oh, apart from the copper standing at the front who was training his camera on different sections of our support every 2 minutes. Guess that's what the £36 match ticket goes towards paying for. Yer they started making everyone sit down straight from the kick-off. BUT most of us kept standing up anyway (and a few "Stand-up if u..."that certainly helped) and after the first 15 mins they stopped hassling everyone. I was on the right flank and stayed on me feet all match. As did most aroung me, but thats cause we chose to. Meaning, nearly everyone sitting down , wanted to. Thats boring , but its their choice. I was expecting a much rougher welcome from the stewards and the rozzers, but thought they were actually ok. As were the people of the yorkshire. Pleasantly surprised.
Orange Posted 6 March, 2012 Posted 6 March, 2012 Do they still do them? Well what you can sign up to, is them to just send you every away ticket automatically. Means i don't have to worry about booking, which saves some hassle but you don't get a discount as such.

Just wasn't aware they were running such a thing this season.

Yeah, worth getting if you know you'll do more or less every one. I think next season you shouldn't have to be a home ST to get one (i'm not but bought it on a friends).
stcappy Posted 6 March, 2012 Posted 6 March, 2012 It was well worth the effort to be there even though my throat was in bits at the end! Cracking away day - reminded me of some of those relegation battles when we were hanging on for points despite getting battered - Neil Moss heroics at Derby came to mind on the way home. Wish I could get to hull as its the only game I can't get to now cause of work - even got a mate to move his stag night so it is the day after Reading and not clashing with boro away!
