Pancake Posted 6 November, 2008 Share Posted 6 November, 2008 You view? My personal top 5 would be (in no particular order) Coldcut - 70 Minutes Of Madness The greatest mix of all time? Possibly, and there is never a dull moment. Sasha & Digweed - Northern Exposure The benchmark for all prog-house and trance mixes Pete Tong & Boy George - MoS The Annual II Pure cheese but reminds me of some very good times The Prodigy - The Dirtchamber Sessions Vol 1 Just love the way this sounds. Bentley Rhythm Ace - FSUK Vol 3 Uber-fun that you can play whatever mood you are in. Bubbling Under: GU007 by Paul Oakenfold, GU015 by Darren Emerson, Quannum Breezeblock session and FabricLice01 by James Lavelle.

Sheaf Saint Posted 6 November, 2008 Share Posted 6 November, 2008 GU013 - Sasha, Ibiza. Truly epic from start to finish. Journeys by DJs - Paul Oakenfold (about 1993/94 I think) The first ever Cream Live CD from around 1995/96 was pretty damn good as well... even though it wasn't actually recorded live. jeff leopard Posted 6 November, 2008 Share Posted 6 November, 2008 Bentley Rhythm Ace - FSUK Vol 3 Uber-fun that you can play whatever mood you are in. Quannum Breezeblock session Both are very good but a bit ten years ago. It reminds me of all the amazing session MJHobbs had on the breezeblock, norman cook's first set for her sticks in the mind as a true great, i think it was the first time he played his renegade master remix. David Holmes did a couple of great sets for her, much better than any of his officially released cds. 2 Many DJs definitely, if you like that you may want to dabble with Kid 606's 'the f*cking mentalist brings you the jams' which is like 2MDJs but much faster and funnier.Planet_mu did a couple of really good and shockingly cheap mix cds with bucket loads of electronica and jungle. But when push comes to shove, I'd rather have a non-mixed compilation and then make the mix cd myself. Cos lets face it, 99% of dj's are tools. Scudamore Posted 6 November, 2008 Share Posted 6 November, 2008 Nick Warren - Back to Mine Original and best Back to Mine compilation Kruder & Dorfmeister - K& D Sessions Unbelievable stuff Tom Middleton - The Sound of the Cosmos Although any Middleton compilation is always the b::llocks Bryan Gee - Sound of Movement Oh and after hearing about how the Coldcut one was supposed to be the greatest Mix Album of all time i have to say i was greatly disappointed...in fact i'd probably go as far as to say i thought it was sh:te... Possibly, and there is never a dull moment. First one I was going to suggest but see it has already been mentioned several times already in this thread. James Lavelle ones and Ninja's Solid Steel releases are always good. Speaking of Solid Steel, they do weekly mixes available at the website via podcast I'd imagine which were always, well, pretty solid. I actually find KoldKrushKuts on Ninjatune one of my favs.

Scudamore Posted 6 November, 2008 Share Posted 6 November, 2008 (edited) Smith & Mighty - DJ Kicks If you like Massive Attack (and if you don't then we have a problem) then this is well worth checking. One of the originators of the Bristol Sound and pretty dubtastic i'd say...which then leads onto their albums which are also pretty amazing... *edit* The more i think about it the second half of that gets a little bit too early drum n bass for most tastes...just get Big World Small World if you like the idea of them...it's a cracking album... As far as Podcasts go i'd definitely recommend the Bare Sessions ones which pull out a whole load of Mo' Wax classics. Also the Streetlife DJ's ones are pretty damn sweet party music...
