derry Posted 4 March, 2012 Share Posted 4 March, 2012 I'm sure there's something in this. An hour or so on reduced oxygen can't have helped their preparation. I was an airline pilot for 35 years both long haul and short haul, sometimes 6 flights a day. There is no doubt in my mind that there would be an effect on the individuals. Weston told me on Thursday that the team were flying up on Saturday and I thought then that it wasn't really the best thing to do, especially as they are usually so meticulous about their sports science preparation. But then it is not something they would have experience of. The day before would have been fine but on the morning, I just can't see that there wouldn't be a reaction. They flew up to Doncaster the day before and were pant's. Maybe the team does not travel well, though the choice of plane may not help (Eastern Airways Jetsteam 41 so not a lot of room for the full team and the staff)

Bloody noisy uncomfortable heaps. I thought it would be a Flybe Q400 at the worst.
Lighthouse Posted 4 March, 2012 Share Posted 4 March, 2012 I'm sure there's something in this. An hour or so on reduced oxygen can't have helped their preparation. A cabin altitude of around 6,000 feet for about half an hour wont have had any effect on their bodies what so ever. It is possible the stress and hastle of airports, security waiting around for baggage etc. might have had an effect. Plus the fact a few of the players probably have anxiety about flying, which would have knocked them off their game a bit psychologically. Probably not the wisest decision the club have ever made. Could not say about Leeds yesterday but for Doncaster the team bus (the usual Coliseum one) met them on the apron, the team got straight off the aircraft and onto the bus so not as stressful as you and I travelling. derry Posted 4 March, 2012 Share Posted 4 March, 2012 They went on the Q400 to Leeds. De Ridder put a picture on Twitter. Much more sensible, but still flying on the day would cause reactions in passengers. At least we won.

Tamesaint Posted 4 March, 2012 Share Posted 4 March, 2012 Just got back after spending the weekend in Ponty with friends. Watched the game with Leeds fans in the South Stand behind the goal which we attacked in the second half. Our fans sounded great where I sat. Loud and proud and they really got behind the lads in the second half. The neanderthals sitting around me were quite amusing. Did you know that Lambert is a " F***ing useless C*nt?" or that they "don't give a f*ck" that we are top of the league?? Their comments as the game went on about our luck were similarly priceless. Professor Posted 5 March, 2012 Share Posted 5 March, 2012 Yes - everyone with even a passing interest in football knows that (Neil Warnock is an anagram of Colin Wan*er) One thing Mr Warnock doesn't know is the handball rule (Rule 12). A penalty is awarded for a deliberate handball, however, a handball is not deemed deliberate if a player has instinctively used his hands or arm to protect the his person. When the ball hit Fonte's elbow or upper arm it was because the ball was fired at speed directly towards his face. Maybe we should have Rickie Lambert kick a ball directly at Warnock's face and see if he instinctively puts an arm in the way! Such an action is not deliberate handball, so for Warnock to describe that as "the most blatant handball you have ever seen" shows he does not understand the rule, which is appalling in a manager, as was his statement that the referee or linesman was at fault. Disapointment in a result is no excuse for ignorance.

To be fair they probably dont give a f*ck we are top of the league, why would they? And anyone who saw the game must admit we did have luck on our side on saturday. It wont be the first time a star play of the opposition has been called useless by opposition fans i'm sure. What vile neanderthals for saying this though, they should be swapping scarves with you and carrrying you out on their shoulders celebrating our success just grateful to keep the score down to 1-0 and a fan of the mighty SFC has lowered themselves to sit to them.
