Leeds V Saints Match Thread

Cork has been awful today, as has Chaplow. Our best player is Morgan who is trying to calm the game down and has made countless tackles and interceptions. Puncheon has been frustrating today, he'll do something well but take too many touches and lose the ball. Tadanari's work rate has been excellent his runs just need to be picked out and he's causing them a pain. Lambert needs to stop going wide left, and trying to set up from there. Stay in the box and we get goals.

Fox has been good, just a bit concerned about our lack of zip in the passing.

If we are going to persistently boot the ball the length of the pitch to Lambert's head let's at least get two of our player feeding off him. Jeez, it's not rocket science. Either play the ball around with movement off the ball or go for the big boot and get men around Lambert. In that half we did neither although it was a cracking goal!

Pretty horrendus first half from us, but we're winning....fair enough.

Puncheon has had a mare and needs to come off, looks totally off the pace. Odd.

Our basic ball retention needs to improve massivley though.

Sky curse mate.

No idea how we're winning. I hate watching us play on the box.

Leeds' tempo has been phenomenal. Reckon they'll run out of steam in 2nd half

I thought the same in the Reading match, which didn't happen.......... but luckily we pulled a result out of the bag with a moment of magic from De Ridder. Hopefully Lambert is one to have provided that for us today.

Hammond should definitely come on at some point, Cork is always suspect when the opposing team are physical.

Hammond and guly for puncheon and Morgan IMO.

Half tempted to go 451. Getting murdered at the moment and Warnock will only emphasise the 'everytime going against them' line. They'll come at us even more second half.

We either keep the ball and hold out, or lose IMO. Can't see a draw. If Leeds keep pressing and get their goal, they'll score a second within 5 minutes. It's got that new manager turning it round feel, and that weak away performance look. Really hope that's all nonsense.

Why would you take Morgan off? He's was our best Midfielder in that first half by some distance.

Morgan has been our best midfielder. Cork and Puncheon have been woeful with Chaplow only marginally better.

hoof ball again. Another sub standard pitch no doubt?

Still, how many times over the years have we dominated at home only to be hit on the break? Nice to return the favour for once.

Puncheon has been far too casual. Come on son get it together and we can get these 3 points.

and when they are in his face.

He wants too much time tonight, and the Leeds players are about 5 seconds faster in speed and thought. He's a passenger.

Cork unusually innaccurate, Puncheon trying to do too much sometimes - should keep it simple. Chaplow showing energy but not quite there yet, some sloppiness in defence inviting problems and... we're winning. Seeing that Lambert finish reminds me of reading an article in The Guardian this morning about goal scoring finishers. I think Leeds are riding a wave of adrenalin at the moment and we can only hope they flag towards the end.

Riiiiiiiiight. Back to work I go. Keep me posted - the only way I can check what's happening is using my phone to view SaintsWeb - with a very questionable battery life. :-(

w00T, UTS, COYY and nun pics.

3-0 please...

We seriously need to get a grip if we wanna win this. Cork and Puncheon are giving the ball away every chance they get.. fox looks terrified. Hammond should come on, its a matter of time til we concede.

We look okay going forward, but we really need to up this.

Definitely, there was a point towards the end of that first half where Chaplow played a short pass to him and he was just staring at it like he'd never seen a football before then someone nipped in and got it before he could touch it.

Agree with all this. It seems to me that Punch is trying too hard. Lamb coming wide left all the time is incredibly frustrating. He has been in the box once and he has scored from it.

Morgan playing brilliantly. Lee looks very handy, excellent assist and proving a real handful. Seems to have a very good touch. Too many players guilty of giving the ball away way too easily. Cork's doing well defensively but going forward he has been poor (apart from that cross for the goal to be fair).
