Crouchie's Lawyer Posted 2 March, 2012 Share Posted 2 March, 2012 You never see extremist Christians do you? You dont see a bible carrying family with AK47's strapped around their necks at all? Why does there only seem to be extremists in other religions, all seemingly hell bent on causing pain and anguish to anyone who doesnt conform to their own beliefs? Anyone who is STUPID enough to think that they are doing right by an imaginary god by killing others who do not share their beliefs is a moron. It is at times like this that I actually wish there was some kind of afterlife (I do not know if there is one or not just for the record lol) because if there is a higher power, I am sure as hell they would disagree with acts of terrorism and things like this. Would be the just deserts of these morons to spend a life overly committed to a cause they have completed misunderstood to find out when they get to the pearly gates (or their own religion equivilant) they get booted away for being a right nasty c*** whilst they were alive. Not sure if you're being ironic here because you certainly do 'see' extremist Christians. Take a look at the Pro-Life movement in the US and the killing of doctors that carry out abortions in the name of the Christian God and the warped belief that all life is precious. Some life is obviously more precious than others. For the avoidance of doubt - I think this is an absolutely abhorrent way to treat the graves of the Christian and Jewish dead in Libya. It can't be justified in any way but I can understand why it happened.

Their beef is with pretty much everyone that doesn't agree with their warped views, not just homosexuals. Some of their propaganda id pretty sickening, including claims that everyone who died in the Boxing Day tsunami in 2004 must have done something to deserve it. If you want an insight into their mentality then try and find the Louis Theroux film where he stayed with them for a weekend - a real eye-opener. As for other extremist Christians - what about the Crusades? OK it's way back in history but it is still the biggest example of murder and oppression being used to promote religious values. As well as the above examples I feel you'd find a trip to Uganda rather enlightening. . http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lord%27s_Resistance_Army This reminds of question time the other night and something David Starkey said. He may be a **** but he does speak a lot of sense at times. As a whole, countries or sizable populations do not like being "liberated". People want different things and will engage in some sort of conflict to pursue their individual wants. Getting rid of a brutal dictator does not make the people "free" or "liberated". The world simply doesn't work like that.

dune Posted 2 March, 2012 Share Posted 2 March, 2012 (edited) Among the dead buried there were British, Australian, New Zealand, South African, Indian, Sudanese and even one or two Libyan soldiers. The cemetery contains the remains of soldiers of many faiths. Most were Christian but there are a significant number of Muslims buried there too. Officials at the Libyan Foreign Ministry were said to be and deeply upset and angry over the incident. Speaking on TV, Libya’s Chief Mufti, Sheikh Sadiq Abdurrahman Ghariani, condemned the perpetrators saying that the attack was against Islam and the law and that the authorities had to deal with them. There has been speculation that the attack was carried out by Islamists prompted by outrage at the burning by US troops in Afghanistan of copies the Holy Quran. The attackers may have been seeking to revenge themselves on what they saw as a Christian target. Islamists are not widespread in Libya but in the relative absence of forces of law and order have been active recently. They have attacked several mosques around the country containing the tombs of marabouts (holy men) and stolen the bodies which they have secretly buried elsewhere, causing considerable shock and anger among the general public. http://www.libyaherald.com/war-graves-smashed-in-benghazi/ These people are clearly as despised by Libyans as they are by us. Seaford Saint Posted 3 March, 2012 Share Posted 3 March, 2012 Unable to watch it for too long...... Angry and saddened in equal measure. I don't think we should forget that it's the quantity/quality of information received by this mob is likely to have had a massive bearing on their behaviour I don't think anyone should really believe that we invaded Libya to free them from their ruler. I recall a story from the first gulf war when a Kuwaiti was asked why he wasn't grateful for the US liberating them from Saddam. His reply was that he didn't have to be grateful as Kuwait had paid the US to do it. Bottom line for me.....when some one dies, no maiming of the corpse, when people of any race are buried you leave their graves so they can rest in peace. Saintandy666 Posted 3 March, 2012 Share Posted 3 March, 2012 I was unaware that Anders Behring Brevik is a Christian. What makes you say he is? His whole manifesto was about keeping his country safe from the 'Marxist multiculturalism' and stopping it from becoming a country of anything but white Christians. He was a right wing Christian fundamentalist. At least, that was the analysis at the time.
Stubby Posted 3 March, 2012 Share Posted 3 March, 2012 For what it's worth, http://annamariacom.blogspot.com/2011/07/anders-behring-brevik-is-not-christian.html says: "Anders Behring Brevik calls himself a Christian conservative. What a terrible insult to Christianity. Any wonder Christians around the world are appalled to think their religion is being linked to this cold-blooded killer who deliberately shot young people in the face. The outrage reminds me of how Muslims react when Islam is ridiculed or slandered but there is one important difference - Christians don’t threaten to kill those who criticize their religion and they don’t massacre hundreds of innocent people either. Calling himself a Christian is disgusting."
