Pompey's demise leads to SFC promotion

Lots of Saints' fans say they want PFC to survive albeit in a lower league. Fair enough but tonight they are looking at liquidation which will mean that their results will be expunged and consequently Saints promotion chances will be automatically enhanced by the fact we will only have one point deducted and many of our rivals like West Ham will have 6.

So that leads on to the critical question - if it meant Saints being automatically promoted to the Premiership could you accept at the same time that it would mean the total disappearance of P********h once and for all? (Vote A) Or would you rather P survived and we strove for promotion on our own merits and not neccesarily be succesful (Vote B). Easy choice

Me? Vote A

Er, A. I can't imagine any different.

Plus we'll get years of lolz at their efforts to come back too.

Besides, if we came in the top 2 in a 44 match season it would have nothing to do with Skate Cheats FC's existence or otherwise.

A. Liquidation and promotion in a season would be aaaaaaaaaaamazing. But I do hope they survive until the bank holiday.

Check out the KUMB website. In their view the fairest way to manage the liquidation would be to give everyone 3 points who are due to play them not expunge the results :)

Despite the fact that the rules don't state that, and that it punishes the sides who've actually played matches and promotes the possibility of teams deliberately avoiding playing fixtures in order to get points for not doing so. They're nothing if not one-eyed.

A. The Skates are an irrelevance. While growing up they were nothing, just an irritation. Let the f**kers die, let us profit. I do not need those vermin to define my support. I am a Saints fan, they are just a germ to be cleansed.

They deserve everything they get- there is a whole nother thread on that. But Pompey will survive one way or another. Either someone will buy them or they get liquidated and a new Pompey will be born albeit n a much much lower league so there will always be a rivalry. so A for sure. Without a doubt. I would bet my whole entire life savings that would say exactly the same.

I must be the only one who loves the battle of being the best team in the south, without Pompey that banter will be gone forever.

I hope they survive but I want them to suffer a lot more like demoted to the 2nd division where we will see gates of 4,000. That would make me laugh more than seeing them disappear for good.

Utter sh*t.

That has never been a legitimate question. The banter is worthless, they are nothing.

You don't work in a place where you can mock the Pompey fans all day long and still have the last laugh, somehow living in Coventry keeps you away from the fun.

Which shows how small they are. Nothing outside of the immediate vicinity of Portsea. We are Southampton, we are bigger then defining ourselves by those vermin.

Tend to agree with you, also I fear if they do disappear and reform there will be a lot of oupouring of sympathy for the bastards .

So let them go back to their lower league status of the early 1980's, when we signed European Player of the Year they were in the 4th Division.

Odd how the opinion of not wanting to be back in the premier league because of what it has become seems to have dissapeared now promotion is a possibility...
Most I know aren't that @rsed about the Prem. Wouldn't want to give any of our detractors a laugh by falling away now though.

Apart from that, am I the only one that thinks these threads have got a bit carried away?

The problem with this question is that it completely overlooks the fact that we've only played them once. It may give us a five point advantage over West Ham (us losing 1 point, them losing 6), but it also gives them an extra game in hand.

If you take a cautious view, and credit them with a win in their additional game in hand, that makes our advantage for the expulsion of Portsmouth just two points - which isn't a lot, at the end of the day.

Frankly, I think we can do it without the help of Portsmouth going out of business. I'd like them to struggle on to the end of the season, Saints to give stuff them good and proper at SMS, and to then go on and win the league on our own merit.

let us have the chance to put the nail in their coffin at sms, then let the b******s do whatever they want.what goes round comes round, they cheated, not once but twice and still they were allowed to keep paying ridiclous wages.hope they rot in the lower leagues forever,as we march on.to answer the op.A

B

If we go up because of the extra points we would gain from their demise, we would always have them throw that back at us. Little comfort from their club folding, but something for them to retaliate with. I'd rather they went bust after the seasons end, it will make our last game against Coventry all the more special if they were relegated and waiting for the lights to be turned out.

B for me...yes I hate the way they have cheated, yes I hate the way all we have heard is the sympathy card, yes I hate the its everones fault but theirs BUT I remember how I felt during the dark days and I know a few decent fans worked at North Harbour for 5 years.

If we are to go up then I want to do so under our own merits .....Fat Sams whingeing would be far worse than any

Skates as well.

But I am not that bothered about the Premiership anyway and have loved the fact I can now go to games in this

division expecting to win and can afford for me and my lad can go home and away.

I could accept the disappearance of PFC under ANY and ALL circumstances. Our promotion efforts being enhanced is just the jizzz on the top of the biscuit.

But seeing as you only gave two options, I vote A.

B is nonsense. All the sporting spectacle and fun of the local derby has gone out-of-the-window a long time hence.

Your point is completely illogical I'm afraid. Can you explain why we wouldn't be going up under our own merit? I think you've got a but confused there.

What I meant was the fact we would get an advantage over West Ham by that many points taking them out of

IMO the automatic spots. I believe Reading/Birmingham will be in the other automatic place.

The advantage of A is the extra psychological boost it will give our players, the downside is that forever more Skate fans will bleat on that the only reason we got promoted was because they went out of business. Still I vote A though, because I dislike West Ham and it'd be funny.

Pompey will rise again though, with TCWTB as chairman.
