....I personally don't think saints need an extra players but it's interesting to see what some of the clubs around us are doing

Boro have brought in Adam Hammill from wolves

and Birmingham have brought in three new faces (though one is the managers son so probably doesn't really count) in the form of Ramage, Folan & Hughton

Hammil is **** though...

And Birmingham's signings are hardly great. Caleb Folan who has hardly the best goalscoring record in the world. Ramage isn't a brilliant defender by any means, and the other bloke was on a free having been released by Lincoln...

Sorry to disagree with the assumption that we don't need any additions to the squad. To miss out on promotion now, after having topped the table for most of the season, would be a huge mistake. Anything that can be done to make the promotion more certain should be done. We have an injured CB which is clearly justification to bring in an emergency loan. We have two first choice CBs who have both been out of the side due to injury. If we lose them both, even for a couple of games, it could be struggle just when clean sheets are being seen as so important for the run in.

Matt Mills has fallen out with Nigel Pearson at Leicester and there are major doubts over his future there. Matt’s Saints pedigree and his prem potential would make him an ideal loan signing with a view to transfer in the close season. Come on Nigel. You know it makes sense.

NO! Keep him away.

5.5m does not equal prem potential and being an ex saints player does not make him pedigree (unless its pedigree chum). I don't think its worth rocking the boat with an over inflated ego because we might just need him. We have 3 high quality cb's and 2 good cover cb's that should see out the rest of the season. No need to take on some cast offs "just in case"

Portsmouth striker Erik Huseklepp says that he wants to help out his parent club while on loan with Birmingham City.

The Norweigian striker had to come to St Andrews although he admits it was a hard move to make, but while he is here at Blues he intends to help out Pompey by helping Birmingham beat teams who are, like Portsmouth struggling at the bottom of the table.

Speaking to the Portsmouth News he said: 'The move was a big surprise for me. It's done now, though. I have a new challenge and I have to focus on that but I can still help Portsmouth against teams at the bottom.

'I hope and think the club are good enough to survive. The team just need to get the players back from injury. I hope so much we stay up.'

Huseklepp would also love to see Portsmouth`s fierce rivals Southampton knocked out of an automatic promotion place by City.

'And I really hope to push Southampton out of second place. Stopping Southampton would be the best thing possible as a Portsmouth man. There's a gap but we have a game in hand. I'm focused on doing as well as I can and achieving that.'

Wasn't passing comment on how good they're or aren't just interested to see what teams around us are doing. Weather they're good or bad signings will have to wait until the end of the season. If Hammill scores the winning goal that wind boro the play off final ....it won't matter if is ****.

I imagine in Birminghams case they need a few extra bodies to fill a thin squad and have to take what's out there thats cheap.

This argument comes round every season our squad it's getting pretty big now. Some decent players aren't even getting into the matchday squad bringing in more players will just rock the boat IMO.

Can't argue with him. He's been draining them dry out of money they don't have - He is a proper Portsmouth man :)

Wouldn't say Hammil is sh!t... he had a few good games for Wolves last season for them in the Prem and was great for Barnsley before he went to Wolves. People just seem to remember his awful loan spell here and not everything he's achieved since!

WTF really ??? how old is he? I know Kevin Phillips is still knocking them in while clutching his zimmer frame but Fowler. What's Hollowhead trying to do build a veterans team...

They could play Kevin Phillips, Robbie Fowler and Brett Ormerod up front....

It started going round work at about 14:30 this afternoon. Just imagine playing a 4-2-4 with a front 4 of Ormerod, Lua-Lua, Fowler, and Phillips.

I wonder how the Brum fans feel about that quote.

No metion of wanting to play for Brimingham at all other than an inferred side effect of doing well for P*mpey.

Worth pointing out that Fowler was at Cardiff in 2007/8 and did nothing of note for them - 4 league goals in 5 months and then no appearances after Xmas. That was 4 years ago and he was past it then.

In fact I seem to recall a bet I had that Fowler would play fewer games than (I think it was someone like) Rasiak would score goals.

Atleast Pompey are now actually getting rid of their highest earners. This happened straight away when we went into admin!

Will they actually have any players left soon? Or at least enough to fulfil fixtures? There are 19 shown on their web site now, including 2 keepers, and some of those are injured. Do they still have some yoofs who could be played? I don't actually wish liquidation on them, but it really is looking more and more likely that they will fold very soon, maybe even before we get to play them

TBF sharps never said how exciting it is to play for us, just looking forward to forwarding his career

Smirkers picked up on something there that I thought at the time Billy signed. I know he had other things on his mind, and God knows they were far more important than football matters, but in his interview after signing for us I dont ever remember anybody coming across as so utterly underwhelmed about his transfer here. He actually seemed thoroughly gutted about it to me.
