Lord Duckhunter Posted 1 March, 2012 Posted 1 March, 2012 Does anybody remember them? The Prefab four. Nasty,Stig, Dirk and Barry . Watched it again last night, and it is seriously funny with some great songs as well. A cast that also included John Belushi, Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, George Harrison, Paul Simon and Mick Jagger. A Beatles **** take, with a Nazi Yoko, a one legged Brian Epstein and ending with a rooftop concert. [video=youtube;dZB-THUHyHY]
Joe Kirkup Posted 1 March, 2012 Posted 1 March, 2012 Remember it well, was 16 at the time and well in to The Beatles. All the songs were brilliant pastiches, I still sing a few of them to myself today. Must get a copy of the DVD, thanks for reminding me
Fowllyd Posted 1 March, 2012 Posted 1 March, 2012 Likewise - I have the Rutles LP, but I really should get myself the DVD. Brilliant songs by ex-Bonzo Dog Band man Neil Innes (who also played the role of Ron Nasty) and a fantastically funny film. What was it about the Rutles that appelaed to your late husband, Mrs Mountbatten?
Fowllyd Posted 1 March, 2012 Posted 1 March, 2012 They were very... tight. Left nothing to the imagination. Hot dang! I've just ordered it off Amazon. A big thank you to Lord Duckhunter for inspiring me to do so.
South Londoner Posted 1 March, 2012 Posted 1 March, 2012 When you find the girl of your dreams lying in the arms of a Scotsman from Hull. Best song title ever.
beatlesaint Posted 3 March, 2012 Posted 3 March, 2012 Brilliant ! The song Cheese and Onions actually ended up on a Beatles bootleg in the late 70s as someone was so convinced it was an unreleased Lennon song :-D
dronskisaint Posted 3 March, 2012 Posted 3 March, 2012 Sweet essence of giraffe...one of the best phrases to be worked in to a song!
dubai_phil Posted 3 March, 2012 Posted 3 March, 2012 Ah a target for my next trip home nice one Recall at the time this being "confused" due to it hoping it was the next incarnation of Monty Python

SNOWY Posted 3 March, 2012 Posted 3 March, 2012 (edited) Songs written by Neil Innes I believe. My particular favourite was "All you need is cash" The documentary is available on Youtube. Edited 3 March, 2012 by SNOWY

sadoldgit Posted 30 December, 2019 Posted 30 December, 2019 Loved The Rutles and the crazy Bonzo Dog Doo Dah Band. Sad news. He wrote some great pastiche versions of The Beatles songs. RIP Ron Nasty
Whitey Grandad Posted 30 December, 2019 Posted 30 December, 2019 Always sad to see a great talent pass over. I lived his work and I even have a Bonzo Dog Doo-Dah Band record somewhere, probably ‘The Intro and the Outro’. Their album ‘Gorilla’ was all the rage in my teenage years.
percy windham Posted 30 December, 2019 Posted 30 December, 2019 Very sad news. Saw him with the rutles at the brook a couple of years ago.
