Has Rickie ever missed a pen?

Was thinking about this too and was going to start a thread after Saturday's game but never got round to it. Lambert is the best penalty taker I've ever seen, even better than MLT imo. He hits the ball so accurately and even if the keeper gets a hand to it (Carlisle at Wembley for example) the power he puts behind em any keeper is going to find hard to stop.

Michael Owen missed 10 of them. mental.

I presume you mean that it's a mental thing - i.e., a matter of self-confidence; in which case I agree with you. Lambert radiates an aura that says, "This is going in - there's no way you're going to stop me!" James Beattie had the same attitude. He would put the ball down on the spot and, without looking at the keeper, would walk back a few steps, turn around briskly, and hammer the ball into the net. Yes, mental toughness is a big part of being a successful penalty-taker.

Being German helps.

Quashie's miss at QPR (hit the post) in what proved to be Theo's last Saints game was the first official miss since Sideways Jim several seasons before. I say 'official' because Quashie failed with one at St Marys against Norwich (?) but it had to be retaken for encroachment and he scored with the second bite. After that it was a sorry tale of misses as Lighthouse points out on post 40 above.
