Crazy Diamond Posted 27 February, 2012 Share Posted 27 February, 2012 Is contemplating a loan move to Leeds. Mills being the ex-Saint who moved to Leicester for £5.5 million in the summer, which prompted one or two people on here to ask whether we were ambitious enough. http://www1.skysports.com/football/news/11095/7551900/Leeds-move-for-Mills He apparently doesn't fit into Nigel Pearson's long term plans after a bust-up. Incredible really. £5.5 million to be farmed out to a rival team a few months later.

fanimal Posted 27 February, 2012 Share Posted 27 February, 2012 Does that mean if a deal is done tomorrow he could be in line to score against us again on Saturday?? On the other hand, look what lack of team awareness can bring, Kusack going from Manure to Watford a great example!!
a1ex2001 Posted 27 February, 2012 Share Posted 27 February, 2012 He's not that great really' date=' wouldn't be too bothered if he signed for them and played against us on Saturday.[/quote'] Would rather he didn't he'll only go and score. Quite a fall from grace though 5.5 million to loaned out in less than 6 months wouldn't have minded having him back here in the summer but now I'm not particularly keen we've moved on. Crazy Diamond Posted 27 February, 2012 Author Share Posted 27 February, 2012 Well Leicester aren't bothered, here's a few fans' quotes from their 22 page thread on FoxesTalk... "Good news in my opinion" "Good. He's probely one of the worst passers of the ball I have ever seen" "If the Warncock is looking for 'leaders on the pitch', he might well look elsewhere. Mills hasn't evidenced much leadership skills so far. Maybe he did so at Reading, but I've not seen it" "Not good enough, I was excited when he arrived but he has been poor, consistently making errors and just giving the ball away.... Seems the Reading fans were right all along. Can't see him being much different at Leeds to be honest, probably reck any chance they have of reaching the playoffs nice one NP" It's not all negativity, there are a fair few unhappy with Pearson. Have a look: http://www.foxestalk.co.uk/forums/index.php?/topic/80042-mills-on-loan-to-leeds/

Quite a fall from grace though 5.5 million to loaned out in less than 6 months wouldn't have minded having him back here in the summer but now I'm not particularly keen we've moved on. Too strong personalities in the dressing room don't make for a good morale. If Pearson (who I quite admire) gets Leicester to a play-off spot then he'll have done well...but I think that Leicester may rue the day they lost patience with Sven-Göran Eriksson and fired him. What a come down for Mills...there's no way that Leeds will be able to find £5 million for him - even if he does well there. At any rate, he is probably only the first "casualty" of the new Pearson regime. It takes time to get a team working together..Eriksson bought in "his own choices " but their Board didn't give him time to develop them, Pearson has inherited them...but may not have enough time left to him either. SaintAndy14 Posted 27 February, 2012 Share Posted 27 February, 2012 plenty.....mills is better than martin i know saints are sooooo amazing and our player who can't get into the team are sooooo amazing and all that The lad could have meant he would take Martin over Mills as Martin is much younger, has much potential and isn't an ex-Saints player who has left us once already. Doesn't mean that Martin is better than Mills currently but I too would much prefer to have Martin at the club for several years to come than have Mills back. pingwing Posted 27 February, 2012 Share Posted 27 February, 2012 plenty.....mills is better than martin i know saints are sooooo amazing and our player who can't get into the team are sooooo amazing and all that Well Mills being dropped from the Leicester side and apparently loaned out really shows up his quality there too... He must be "sooooo amazing" if he's worth 5.5m and one of their top earners, despite being dropped, slated by every fan (was talking to some on the way back from watford at home as they were on the same train who were slating him) and cast off. Hardly think any of those characteristics mean he's anything close to better than Martin

Village Saint Posted 27 February, 2012 Share Posted 27 February, 2012 martin over mills dear god....this place is hilarious Mills will now never be better than a decent Championship centre-half which in fairness is all Martin is now - but Martin has the time and potential to get better. Its a no brainer really.

Its a no brainer really. Mills isn't exactly queueing up for his pension either, must be about 25/26.Had a pretty decent season with Reading and still has plenty of time on his side, too early to write him off really. Genk Posted 27 February, 2012 Share Posted 27 February, 2012 Cost 3.5m so im told. You dont become a bad player overnight, looked good against us last month In all fairness I think any Championship centre back would have looked good against us that night. But I agree he is a good Championship player and would have him over Martin easily. Jos and Fonte is arguably the best partnership in the league. Can't think of any team that has two better CBs

Channon's Sideburns Posted 28 February, 2012 Share Posted 28 February, 2012 Ah yes, Matt Mills. One of the Saints youngsters who was publically humiliated by that odds-on favourite for the England job, that managerial genius, Mr Redknapp.
dubai_phil Posted 28 February, 2012 Share Posted 28 February, 2012 4th! WTF?? He'd be 5th behind Jaidi according to a Leicester supporting mate. Wasn't there a photo of Mills in his time at the skates bladdered & giving it large? Might be one of the reasons he hasn't developed as he "was supposed to"

stevegrant Posted 28 February, 2012 Share Posted 28 February, 2012 Mills has been a good Championship centre-back for a few years now, having made a rather unwise career move in going to Man City when Burley seemed to want to give him a run in the first team here. That said, there's absolutely no ****ing way he was ever worth £5m, but that was at a time when Leicester were chucking money at anyone and everyone. I actually suspect one of the biggest problems he's faced at Leicester is that Sven gave him the captaincy as soon as he arrived, which has perhaps fuelled a sense of entitlement, and he possibly felt he was undroppable. As we all know, Pearson doesn't stand for that sort of behaviour, so it's no surprise he's on his way out. It would be nice if they'd wait until after this weekend, mind you... As well as the ruck with Pearson apparently he had also been accused of threatening behaviour towards a team mate so not exactly the sort of person that we would want to be bringing into the dressing room at this time and just the sort of player that Cortese does not like to sign.
