Do you people remember being 2-0 up at the dell shipperly and someone else, can't remember put us in the driving seat half time looking to progress in the cup.

Second Ronnie rosental (spelling) decided to learn to play football and we folded and lost 6-2.

Bitter sweet today. Well done Arse. Well done Theo.

Any other games you can think of where Saints have been totally in control and thrown it?

It was 6-2 and thanks for reminding me.

Other ones that spring to mind are leading 3-0 at half time against Leeds and Tranmere and losing both 4-3. As well as being 2-0 in the last minute at home to Middlesborough in the relegation season and drawing 2-2.

Was that the match we were leading two nil at half time, semi finals, rosental came on and scored a hattrick in about twenty minutes...all of them from practically the halfway line? And somehow grobbelaar couldnt move and just watched them sail in?

Ive always felt that somebody should look into grobbelaar. Imho he might have been involved in match fixing at some point.

Oh, hang on.....

Remember it vividly.

Fewer games have had more of an impact than this one for some unknown reason.

Recalling the feeling at 90 mins still haunts me today!

Combination of 'dodgy' keeping and Ronnie flippin rosenthal

Hate is a strong word but let's say I have no sympathy for that lot!

It was some consolation that we played them in the league a few weeks later -again in front of the Sky cameras hoping for another Spurs exhibition (Pleat was commentating, how biased can you get); but this time we beat them pretty soundly.

Not sure we beat them 'soundly' - 4-3 IIRC. It did make me feel a bit better though.

I was sat right behind the goal for the second half in the front row - Grobbelaar let the goals in - I distinctly remember him diving for a save with his arm outstretched but folding his arm back as he did so he failed to save the hit and hope shot from Ronnie Rosenthal.

Yep, that about sums up my recollections from The Archers as well.

When the allegations then arose it was the 1st game I thought of.

This was the lowest I've felt after a Saints game. Two of my best mates at school were Spurs fans, and just knowing the reception awaiting me next morning was utterly, utterly sickening.

I was sitting right behind the goal at the Milton End and we were giving Ian Walker fearsome stick when he came out for the second half, being 2-0 down as they were at the time. He was soon turning round and giving it right back to us when that feckless *** Rosenthal produced the only competent performance of his career by smacking in a hat-trick.

The worst part was my Dad has asked me to put a fiver on Shipperley scoring the first goal. When I slumped back into the house after the game, virtually suicidal, he met me with a beaming smile and said, 'Yeehaa! Where's my winnings then?'

I went to the original tie at White Hart Lane too, when we put in a brilliant performance to get a 1-1 draw. I was interviewed by 90 Minutes magazine (RIP) before the game by Paul Hawksbee - my aforementioned Spurs supporting mate is now his boss (of sorts) at TalkSport.

5-0 up in the 1st round of the league cup against WAtford, went to vicaridge road, lost 7-1 and even our 1 was an own goal. very quiet ride home that night, only ever time i went to watford. Typical saints

I remember this, 1981 I think, listening with mounting dispair to the Radio Solent reports every time a goal went in (no match commentaries in those days!).

It was Keegan's first season and the 7-1 away leg was the first game that he missed, as he was injured. Not that it makes much difference, but I'm pretty sure the home leg was 4-0 rather than 5-0.
