Mr Saints Posted 26 February, 2012 Posted 26 February, 2012 How often do you watch Grant Holt? As much as everyone else on here. Obviously Lambo has never played in the Prem but he has so much more to his game than Holt.
Thedelldays Posted 26 February, 2012 Posted 26 February, 2012 As much as everyone else on here. Obviously Lambo has never played in the Prem but he has so much more to his game than Holt. tell us
farawaysaint Posted 26 February, 2012 Posted 26 February, 2012 Rickie deserves to be in the squad for one reason above all others... 2 words "penalty shootout."
Noodles34 Posted 26 February, 2012 Posted 26 February, 2012 Pearce has also watched a few of our games recently, so has a good idea as to what Lambert could offer. Not sure I'm massively keen on the profile this will bring though. get a grip! You take this seriously, Jeez...
krissyboy31 Posted 26 February, 2012 Posted 26 February, 2012 Rickie deserves to be in the squad for one reason above all others... 2 words "penalty shootout."Trouble is, he can only take one of them.
SNSUN Posted 26 February, 2012 Posted 26 February, 2012 Surely Grant Holt would be considered before Rickie? I agree. Holt isn't as good as Rickie IMO, but Holt has been playing in the higher league this season. Anyone can see Rickie's class though, he would do a great job for England. Graham should get his chance, but it's a great time to try new players. (Come on, call up Adam!)
Suhari Posted 26 February, 2012 Posted 26 February, 2012 Love SRL, but don't want him to get a call up (yet). Selfish I know. Too many players get called up for the first time and have their heads turned by PL wages/become billy big balls/have an off day and see their club form plummet. Who was that Bolton stiker a few years ago? Scoring amazing goals in the PL. had a crap game whne called up fo rthe first time, form fell away immediately and he literally disappeared from the football map....
John B Posted 26 February, 2012 Posted 26 February, 2012 I think Lambert is better. I expect if you were a Norwich Supporter you would have an opposite view

I'm sure someone will prove me wrong, but Beatts had a similar story. Shame he had a crap team around him for the Australia game.
Mowgli Posted 26 February, 2012 Posted 26 February, 2012 Have to wonder if Rickie has a chance of Olympics. But as an overaged player I imagine not, they seem to want to give places to big names, so I'd guess Giggs, Scholes and Beckham. Still think Cork will get in though. And adam
Thedelldays Posted 26 February, 2012 Posted 26 February, 2012 holt has just scored again.......in the prem....against man u
Joey-deacons-left-nut Posted 26 February, 2012 Posted 26 February, 2012 If he was 23 I could see it, but at 30... No way...
david in sweden Posted 26 February, 2012 Posted 26 February, 2012 I'm surprised Danny Graham didn't get an initial call up. 2nd highest English scorer in league behind Rooney. looking at the squad, there are some debatable decisions. Theo ahead of AOC!?[/QUOTE] is that a query or a complaint ? Theo is (22?) now, and already has England games and around 100 Arsenal games under his belt, whereas Alex looks to have a great future, but a full cap at this early stage of his career would seem most unlikely - don't you think.?
shirleysfc Posted 26 February, 2012 Posted 26 February, 2012 holt has just scored again.......in the prem....against man u ... and Theo is finished...
Turkish Posted 26 February, 2012 Posted 26 February, 2012 holt has just scored again.......in the prem....against man u Something about him not being important to Norwich because he's been a sub a couple of times. I see Theo was at it again today with his poor decision making.
JackanorySFC Posted 26 February, 2012 Posted 26 February, 2012 Something about him not being important to Norwich because he's been a sub a couple of times. I see Theo was at it again today with his poor decision making. Theo has no footballing brain, has never done it in Europe (except against Barca, Inter, Byern etc) or on the international stage (except the biggest game England have had since Munich 01 where he got that hat trick) or the Prem (except today). Football morons, seriously it's embarrassing the lack of knowledge of people that right him off. I genuinely doubt any of them saw a "footie" match pre Euro 96. Wenger out Capello out Harry for England Wallcott's got no footballing brain Morons.
DG Posted 26 February, 2012 Posted 26 February, 2012 Well Rooney is out now so there's room for both.

Theo Walcott scored twice in 3 minutes ..how lucky can one player get, eh ?
cambsaint Posted 26 February, 2012 Posted 26 February, 2012 Selfishly we don't want any risk of injury or loss of focus from one of our most important players during a promotion run-in that is worth £50 mill to the club.
Legod Third Coming Posted 26 February, 2012 Posted 26 February, 2012 Er, is this because Pearcey has written the team sheet on his fags and actually he's called up Lambert and Butler...
mitch01 Posted 26 February, 2012 Posted 26 February, 2012 Theo has no footballing brain, has never done it in Europe (except against Barca, Inter, Byern etc) or on the international stage (except the biggest game England have had since Munich 01 where he got that hat trick) or the Prem (except today). Wenger out Capello out Harry for England Wallcott's got no footballing brain Morons. Walcott is occasionally capable of being devastating, like he was today. The problem Arsenal fans have is that 'occasionally' doesn't win you trophies. He does far too many silly things to be considered a really top player, even if he is a game-changer sometimes.
Thedelldays Posted 26 February, 2012 Posted 26 February, 2012 They'd be wrong. and they would tell you that holt is now a proven prem striker......cut it and now done it in the prem...lambert has not
paulwantsapint Posted 26 February, 2012 Posted 26 February, 2012 After watching league cup Liverpool could have done with a rickie & a adam
Monk Posted 26 February, 2012 Author Posted 26 February, 2012 This thread is obviously a wind up, FFS. No, it really isn't.
Dazza82 Posted 26 February, 2012 Posted 26 February, 2012 No, it really isn't. Dont you work within the football circles?
Graffito Posted 26 February, 2012 Posted 26 February, 2012 Something about him not being important to Norwich because he's been a sub a couple of times. . Not a couple. Ten.
Graffito Posted 26 February, 2012 Posted 26 February, 2012 I expect if you were a Norwich Supporter you would have an opposite view Yeah I admit it. you got me. I only think Lambert's better because I'm a Saints fan.
Plumstead_Saint Posted 26 February, 2012 Posted 26 February, 2012 he is anything but right now....his form is appalling and does not deserved to be picked what so ever ROTFL Were you watching him play today?
S-Clarke Posted 26 February, 2012 Posted 26 February, 2012 ROTFL Were you watching him play today? If you look at his post it was made yesterday, before the game today, and when he was indeed in a horrible spell of form.
Dr Who? Posted 26 February, 2012 Posted 26 February, 2012 Would be great to see lambert in an England shirt, but I do think there are others who should be ahead of him, but this is football, so bring it on!
Monk Posted 26 February, 2012 Author Posted 26 February, 2012 Dont you work within the football circles? To a degree but I've met Noel Blake on a number of occasions and met him over the weekend at a UEFA coaches conference.
saint.tom.clancy Posted 27 February, 2012 Posted 27 February, 2012 In a very selfish way, I’d rather he didn’t get the nod. He’s never going to get picked for the euros so why use him for a friendly? I think he’s more than capable of performing for England, but I’d rather wait until next season when we’re in the prem. We need Lambert more than ever for these next few months, having a dip in form or getting injured just to play a friendly for England could potentially be the difference between automatic and play off’s.
JRM Posted 27 February, 2012 Posted 27 February, 2012 So if Rooney and Bent are out of the squad who has been called up in their place?
Lets B Avenue Posted 27 February, 2012 Posted 27 February, 2012 So if Rooney and Bent are out of the squad who has been called up in their place? No-one. According to the FA site.
