sentry Posted 26 February, 2012 Share Posted 26 February, 2012 It's amazing that, despite being our first choice goalie for god knows how many years....mongs still can't get his name right. Or it is a typo/ I know Kelvins name buy can't spell for s^&*, so Im not sure the spelling either. You know what he ment though so does it matter? steadyeddie Posted 26 February, 2012 Share Posted 26 February, 2012 Unimpressed with Lee and Puncheon - lots of huff and puff but no real impact from either. Watford v poor and we did our job professionally. Worried about Lambert and Lallana's injuries. A good day and a good result but we will have plenty sterner tests. What game were you at yesterday ? I sat on the halfway line with the Watford Fans, who by the way were the most sedate bunch I have ever met. Did you miss Lee's movement throughout the game, or he run where he went past three Watford players after gaining possesion himeself ? Who supplied the 60 yard cross field pass during the move that led to the penalty ? Puncheon. Unfair to single out two players, when it was a fantastic TEAM performance. With respect Eddie, I acknowledged Lee's running but maintain it led to little. Early days however and I am far from even thinking about writing him off. Yes Puncheon's ball to Lambert was good but that was his only memorable contribution as has been acknowledged by several others on this thread. I am a Puncheon fan incidentally but yesterday was not one of his better days. And if you thought that the team performance was FANTASTIC, then you either took too much advantage of Weatherspoon's High St hospitality or are given to outpourings of irrational hyperbole. It was a professional competent performance and it deserved the three points by some margin but "fantastic" it wasn't.
Sold To The Man @ The Bar Posted 26 February, 2012 Share Posted 26 February, 2012 (edited) We have played better and lost this season, it wont be replayed in 30 years as one of the classics of the 2011/12 season but another 3pts and an away win. I was sat at the back of the home stand next to our fans and had a good view of the game. Lee, some great movement off the ball, he should have scored when he blazed over, great find. Lambert, great performance, i was right behind his second goal, i knew it was in as soon as he hit it. Fonte, Hooiveld have a great understanding of the game and each other, Watford offered nothing much but were not given the option either. Fox, another assist with a great cross for our first goal. Richard Chaplow football genius, (as influential as Marsden was) i love the way he plays for us and no coincidence that our form changed from Bristol away when he went off. Lallana quality, quality quality. The Watford fans were very poor, not one song. Even the drummer gave up and thew his drum to the ground. All in all, a solid performance, away points and back to the top !! Edited 26 February, 2012 by Sold To The Man @ The Bar
steadyeddie Posted 26 February, 2012 Share Posted 26 February, 2012 You have missed my point, my Capitals were on the word TEAM, not fantastic. You are right though, I did attend the High Street Hostelry, but as I was driving, my intake was a measly bottle of Becks Alcohol Free Beer. I feel I enjoyed the day more than you, despite this. Tougher test next week though my friend. With respect Eddie, I acknowledged Lee's running but maintain it led to little. Early days however and I am far from even thinking about writing him off. Big Ron fan Posted 26 February, 2012 Share Posted 26 February, 2012 Those saying how terrible Watford were should remember that they were unbeaten in their last 9 home league games, winning 7 - that may indicate that we played pretty well to make them look so poor. Good all round team performance. I thought the centre-backs were excellent, Fox looked much better than I've seen him before (although I haven't been at the last 3 or 4 games), Morgan was commanding and industrious in midfield and thought Lee had a very good game. Lambert and (while on the pitch) Lallana were, as you'd expect, very good. I still think we'll go up as champions if these two stay fit. We were helped by a dreadful bit of keeping for the first goal though!

Incidentally Eddie there is a better pub the other end of the High St
