Leeds Utd Away build up

sir woody

Recommended Posts

Quite.

The reason Man United take so many away fans, by the way, is that actually, the United fans at Elland road live in Menston, Skipton, Bradford...

I would rather we beat Leeds 1-0 in an empty stadium than lost 4-3 in front of 35,000 travelling fans.

congratulations for the most clueless post i've ever read on here, Man United core support is from greater Manchester and due to loyalty points it is the same ones at most away games, not local reds popping along

Nah, just valuing your club's travelling support & not sniping about them from behind a keyboard.

Given that I go to away games when I'm not working or with my family, or horse-racing, why would I snipe about them??

But I do think your little man syndrome of having to prove how 'hard and football' you are just a touch immature, don't you think?

I don't remember a trophy being awarded for best support, sorry if they've changed the rules recently.

I would rather we won games with fans who want to be there present. If there a lot of them there congratulations to all of them.

But funnily enough it won't get us promoted, which I'm guessing is what ALL fans want...

Feck me, this board is hardly worth it sometimes.

All fans want their club to do well. There is more to football than just winning games - hence why you have so many disenfranchised supporters of clubs such as Man Utd and Chelsea. If you ever read an account of a great game by a player, manager, or fan, they'll invariably talk as much about the support, crowd, atmosphere as the game itself. Imagine the '76 final if there had not been one Saints fan there and the ground.only had Man Utd supporters in it - the day would never be remembered anything like it still is to this day.

Anyway...

I run with a Leeds season ticket holder at my running club and he can only see a comprehensive Saints win as "Leeds have been gash this year", his words, not mine.

I mentioned the Warnock factor and he considered this for a second whilst we entered the final 400m or our 4th 1.3km interval and responded with "nah! We are sh*te".

Faced with this first hand information on our next opponents I'm going for a Saints-to-f***-it-up 2 nil to them :)

solent tweeted saying adkins hinted that lambert will be fit but he was less committal about lallana being fit.

Just heard Lallana is out & doubtfull for Ipswich not good news looking forward to the game it is my 1st visit to Elland road another ground ticked off on the quest for the 92.

Fingers crossed we can do the double on the dirty northern wotsits COYS

Having Puncheon in reserve is no bad thing! Shame though as Lallana has been in top form

I haven't seen him for a while so does Punch play on the left? Thought he was a right winger? Tadanari is a left footed attacking player by trade though if he's back from international duty in time.

big loss if that is true however actually think Lambert being fit is more important for leeds game. puncheon or sdr are adequate replacements for lallana but we have no like for like replacement for lambert really.

I'd agree that Lambert is the one player more than any other we don't want to lose and struggle to replace, however, SDR and Puncheon aren't a patch on Lallana - he would be missed.

Guly should be back as well so he's a possible replacement for Lallana.

Guly tends to go missing in away games, I would rest him and have him fresh for Ipswich tbh. Start Punch on the left and Chaplow on the right, with Steve coming on later in the game.

I dined with Adam Lallana's father on Wednesday and can assure you that Adam's groin injury is not too bad. He is back doing line running. Will he be fit for Saturday? On Wednesday it was too early to tell. As the VMAN said last weekend, Leeds might come too soon. Adam is desperate to play every game but he has gained a level of maturity and knowledge of his own body mechanics to make the right call along with the Medical team.

But then you're typical of the boring, middle aged, middle class 'fans' that dominate these forums but have little in common with the ordinary, match going supporter.

Your quarrel is nothing to do with me but take out the money from boring fans, take out the money from middle class fans, and take out the money from middle aged fans and we will be a very small club unable to afford the players and facilities we have. And the football will not be as exciting as it currently is because we would almost certainly be in a lower league.

Lallana is such a key player for us, I cannot see the logic in considering him for this weekend and only as back up for the home games to come, should he be even fully fit. If we can put out a team to do the business without Lallana, I would definetly have him as sub to give him the extra recuperation time.

I am struggling to fully understand this injury fully. If Lallana pulled up with a sharp pain in his groin, it's nailed on that he has torn the muscle attached to the bone to some degree. The percentage of tear dictating the recovery time. But even for the most minor of tears, I just cannot imagine risking such a player after one weeks rehabilitation, even two seeming too quick. This all seems far too similar to last time he did his groin and there must be an obvious weakness for this to reoccur so quickly, so am struggling to understand why he will be back that much quicker. Both times he did his groin recently were down to turning or swivelling of the hips I believe, as such he may well feel ok in a straight line, but the acid test will come when he has to repeat the action which caused the injury.

The Leeds game just seems madness to risk him where I feel he could well be required, but after that we have several fixtures where we can afford to look after him to ensure we have him available for the difficult games, where I feel we cannot do without him.

Scan showed a Grade 1 groin strain. These syptoms usually disappear within a week and as of Wednesday he seemed on course. Agree with you, I would not risk him on Saturday or Tuesday.

After this, I might have to stop calling Colin Colin.

I reckon what Warnock has said is less to do with him being complimentary about Saints and more about setting us up as targets for his team to shoot down. Listen to what he says after we beat them. If he's complimentary after having lost the game then I'll take it as such but I'm not holding my breadth.

Just seen a few of the lads at Costa in West Quay (Chaplow, Cork, Jos, Sharpy, Frazer), about an hour ago, guessing before they fly up to Leeds. Lallana and Foxy turned up as I was leaving and seemed to be walking fine although that means nothing.

L.U.S.T. BOARD MEMBERS' TICKET PURCHASING ACCOUNTS BLOCKED BY LEEDS UNITED

transparent.pngFriday, March 2, 2012 at 1:55PM

In recent weeks Ken Bates has frequently made the Leeds United Supporters' Trust chairman and board the subject of personal comments in the Leeds United matchday programme and in his weekly interview on Yorkshire Radio. These comments have made reference to the individual ticket purchasing histories, places of residence and places of work of our board members, and the comments have been not only inaccurate, but we believe they are in breach of the Data Protection Act, Ofcom broadcast guidelines, and the club's own customer charter. In a past statement we have corrected Mr Bates' comments about the Trust chairman's attendance record, but we see little value in refuting these remarks on a weekly basis and have instead referred them to Ofcom and the Information Commissioner's Office. As last week's open letter to Neil Warnock made clear, our members would like us to concentrate on supporting our new manager this weekend in his first home game, and on working towards making the aims and ambitions of our Vision Statement a reality, rather than be drawn into petty personal battles.

With this in mind, we were disappointed to find that the Trust chairman and board have had ‘stops’ placed on their individual ticket purchasing accounts by Leeds United, which prevents them from buying tickets and supporting the team. Trust chairman Gary Cooper contacted the club’s Chief Executive Shaun Harvey for an explanation, and was told in an email from Harvey that: “In simple terms we are exercising our right only to sell tickets to those who we wish to do so.”

The clear message is that anybody who questions the way Leeds United is being run is no longer welcome at Elland Road, and that this policy will be enforced by the refusal to sell tickets to individuals that the club identifies as unwelcome. This is of serious concern to every Leeds United supporter who wants to have an input into the running of their football club. We are appalled that individual Leeds fans are being stopped from following their team purely because they voice an opinion. The Trust board are able to withstand this kind of treatment and will be taking the matter up through the proper channels, but Harvey’s comments about only selling tickets “to those who we wish to do so” leave us very concerned about the development of a ‘with us or against us’ ticket policy at Leeds United.

A major aim of the Trust’s Vision Statement is to build good relations between the club, its fans, and local bodies in the city of Leeds. To this end, we have been delighted to gain the public support of Members of Parliament and Leeds City Council, joining the backing we have as a Supporters’ Trust from Supporters Direct, the Football League, the FA and UEFA, as well as our Honorary President Nigel Martyn. In recent weeks we have published our aims and ambitions for a successful Leeds United, supported Leeds fans in a peaceful 1,000 strong march, and reflected our members’ wishes in calling on Leeds fans to support Neil Warnock in his first home game this weekend. At the same time our membership has grown to more than 4,500 Leeds United fans, who support us in our call for Leeds United to listen to the fans and bring about positive changes at Elland Road.

To find that, rather than listen to us and work with us, the club has instead resorted to inaccurate, personal public attacks and now moved to stop Leeds fans from buying match tickets and supporting their team is frustrating and disappointing, but it will not stop the work of Leeds United Supporters’ Trust. We will continue to work hard to fulfil the aims and ambitions of our Vision Statement, and to represent the views of the 4,500 Leeds fans who have joined us so far. And whether we are able to enter Elland Road or not, and whether we are welcome or not, the Leeds United Supporters’ Trust will continue to support Leeds United, just as it always has done, and just as it always will.

All the pressure is on Leeds, really Adkins? Don't think so, play offs are unlikely, Leeds have got absolutely nothing to lose. (Some of the players though could lose their shirts if they don't show maximum effort as Warnock will ship them out). Stop trying to kid us Adkins you know fine well you have got much more to lose than we have.
