The news Turkish has been waiting for...

I initially read it like that but then thought there is no way in a million years the club could be stupid enough to try and implement something like that... could they?
we're customers now, not supporters. The most loyal customer is the one that spends the most, not the one that goes to support the side at games, so I wouldn't doubt it for one second. As someone that never really buys anything other than tickets at SMS I'm gonna miss out here. Such is life.

It's already happening, hadn't you noticed ?

Also, Umbro don't do 3 new kits a season for anyone any more, they only do two, so you're safe either way.

I tend not to read any thread you have started.

I think you're making huge assumptions there, let's just wait and see.

I have only bought one piece of Saints merchandise in about the last 8 years and that was a pair of shorts to lounge around in on holiday last summer. Looks like I'm going to have to embrace the scarfer lifestyle...

Forget doing Rochdale, Hull, Hartlepool away mid week - just pop down the megastore on your lunch break and treat yourself to a keyring.

I really hope they don't do something like this.

Whatever happened to the working mans game that you used to be able to turn up on the day pay your cash and get in....now some spotty little **** with a season ticket and laptop gets priority over me who has followed saints around the country and Europe a couple of times,spent hundreds on merchandise for the kids and most of the 80's fighting rival fans to protect the reputation of SFC.

What has this world come to.

Are you expecting us to get relegated.......surely you mean Man city, Liverpool and Newcastle

No. I say let's all jump to conclusions before we know the full details. How else are we going to get threads going beyond 64 pages FFS?

As a regular consumer of Saints crap and kits, I hope they don't do it too, they'd only stick the prices up in the first place to offset the discounts anyway.

On which note I see the new Umbro England shirt is £43 (compared to £42 last season) for a short-sleeved shirt.

It's much more fun ranting and raving about things without knowing all the facts first.

See the Pompey Takeover Thread for details.

If there are no paper match tickets, how do you avoid hastle over people sitting in the wrong seats, especially if you are aseason ticket holder and someone decides they fancy sitting in your seat for the day ?

Posted

FFS, what is going to happen to our local turnstyle operators? Redundancy after many years of great service?

All told, good bit of news this, as long as it is implemented properly. Says in the release that "box office" staff can select you the best seat in the house, assuming in practice that we can choose our own on-line like most of these systems.

Also, while it is definitely good news, there are plenty of clubs that already have similar systems in place, so lets not get too carried away.

Good question that.

I was merely referring to mid week away days I've done in the past. ;)

Sadly what ever happens I don't think the loyalty points will be retrospective...but come on imagine getting loyalty points just for having a half time pint..:p

If you find someone sitting in your seat, open them up like a tin of beans.

Imagine you'll have to take a print out confirmation of your booking with you.

Every seat will be fitted with a barcode scanner, you scan your card and the seat electronically lowers itself down.

Do you do special requests?

I would like "Steve De Ridder, he hates plastic fans" inscribed on mine.

One thing i'm looking forward to is the 2 month into the season TSW threads about the following

how many points on their smartcard

smart card issues and moans such as;

* not working in the club shop

* points inaccurately recorded

* lost or stolen smartcards

* How much better it was when we had paper tickets and knew what game we were on.

The preorder for limited addtion "northam block 42, loyal supporters" special are going very well. The little string attached to tie round the wrist when waving at block 43ers was a well recieved extra.

Can i have one! must be the picture from the Leeds programme though.

Woohoo.. It might stop my wife washing my season ticket! Took me ages to dry it out

Or alternatively buy a "Cortese whoo whoo" lanyard and card protector a bargain at only £12.99. Keep your card scratch free and dry and show your support from the club and chairman whilst looking cool at the same time.

Great if we all lived in Soton...

What do you mean? Surely if you were a northern saint or whatever, you could compensate the fact you can't go to to many home games by going to the aways near you, building up a few points?

Although i originally meant you should be given more for an away, sounds obvious, but its the sort of thing the club wouldn't do. I'd think about saying northern aways (if we go up) such as Bolton, Wigan, Newcastle etc, you should be given a bit more compared to an away like Fulham. Got a friend who follows Spurs and they do this i think. In answer to why, surely a 'loyalty points sysem' should reward loyalty..

Also i think the system needs to stop people who go to most aways, but without a ST, missing out over people who want to do a couple of London ones but have a ST.

Kind of depends on what the club consider loyalty I would have thought. ST holders put money into the club. If you only do away games you're just putting money into other clubs coffers. Same as they might not consider casuals promoting the clubs reputation at some northen sh it hole as being more loyal than scarfer Dave who spent £600 in the club shop this month................Just sayin'

Stewards issued with hand-held card readers perhaps?

Off the top of my head, I can't think of anyone on here sad enough to start threads on a football forum (on the internet) about problems they are having with their cards. Saints fans are pragmatic and rational people and would take such gripes up directly with the ticket office rather than rant about it on here.

Obviously.

Yes, which you can use towards priority for tickets for the massive Saints v Torquay Carling Cup 2nd round tie in 2012/13 season.

This does sound promising but where does it leave the mates of season ticket holders? Up until now these guys have gotten priority for the big games, usually 7 days before the rest of us. All they had to do in the past was buy their season ticket holding friend a pint in the pub and tell the odd joke here and there and hey presto, they had their seat at Wembley/Fratton Park. They even had the option to sell their ticket for a nice profit to someone who really cared.

If we are to introduce a loyalty system, where will it leave these guys? They will just have to stroll around in their Man Utd/Chelsea tops in May and watch the games from the comfort of the pub.

It hardly seems fair to leave these guys high and dry. Perhaps NC should invite a few of them round for dinner.

Fact is though something you buy at teh club ticket or otherwise = revenue; away tickets dont, so dont be surprized to still see highest priority for all games even away games going to ST holders as they make the biggest financial contribution to the.... and given we want the club to spend money on players etc, can you really argue with that?

Look what most clubs and England fans do? They do it, to treat their fans/loyalist customers as fairly as possible, like any sensible organisation.

such a sweeping statement

ok, lets have say, 75 examples of this....

cheers

You've missed my point.

I have no qualms about ST holders being given priority (I'm one myself, so obviously all for it), though loyalty should be rewarded to those who attend the most away games as well, not whoever buys the most merchandise in the Megastore.

For instance: Chelsea/Brighton away (depending on what league);

Season ticket holders with 3 aways

ST holders with 2 aways

ST holders with 1 away

ST holder with no aways

Members with 3 aways and so on...

All the following operate loyalty schemes (Just off the top of my head);

England

Man Utd

Arsenal

Chelsea

Leeds

Liverpool

Spurs

Newcastle

Everton

West Ham

I'm fully aware all the clubs listed above are much bigger than us and have much better away followings but as we've seen this season, demand is there from us for games from the Midlands down.
