Always liked him. Seeing those highlights makes me shudder though.

This was the team that day

Southampton: Davis, James, Perry, Saeijs, Skacel, Wotton (Lallana 78 ), Surman, Euell (Liptak 88 ), Smith, Wright-Phillips (Saganowski 64), McGoldrick.

Subs Not Used: Forecast, Schneiderlin.

Is it any wonder we got relegated looking at that team.

Lallana a 78th minute sub?

He was so wasted that season.

He actually looked pretty crap for large parts of it. Not his fault, he simply wasn't ready to be chucked in like that. Same with Morgan who also looked like a fish up a tree for large parts of the season. I was really annoyed that we'd signed Morgan at the time. Buying players for £1m plus when you're skint is something I'd expect the Skates to do, not us.

Back to the OP, it's hard to judge a player who is parachuted into such an awful team like that. It hardly makes a defenders job easy playing behind gash like Jason Euel, (world class) Ryan Smith and Lloyd James.

I was there and I feel a certain tingle for that team - they were carp (f'sure) but hey. they were OUR CARP!

The only players on that list I would wish some bad karma are Ryan bloody Smith and Bradley W-P!

Davis - nuff said

James - too much too young, actually an OK player for us in L1

Perry - excellent, gave over and above in every game he played for us

Saijs - definitely could have DAJFU in L1

Skacel - Burley personified, all mouth and no trousers.

Surman - decent player, would have been excellent in L1 and well worth his place in this current team

Wotton - right signing, wrong player, legs had gone but he always gave it his all

Euell, I liked him, lots of people didn't.

McGoldrick - never worked out for him - guess the hype went to his head? Decent under Pearson but never had the mentality to back up his potential.

Once a Saint, always a Saint!

There was some good effort there but a distinct lack of quality.

Davis - decent keeper

James - an average League 1 standard player even now

Perry - a top class head on ancient shoulders

Saeijs - a decent player for us, which he'd stayed over into the Leibherr era

Skacel - a very good winger and one of the few quality attacking players in the squad... So we played him LB

Surman - a decent Champ and now Prem player

Wotton - a good leader but he really wasn't very good. Weird to think he played for us at Wembley

Euell - a complete cart horse living off his Charlton reputation. Couldn't score and put in about 5 decent performances a season.

Smith - was gash

Liptak - complete enigma

DMG - lazy and crap. Can't believe we got £1m for him.

BWP - just about Championship quality, but not for a team with any top half ambitions.
