mikee Posted 22 February, 2012 Posted 22 February, 2012 Am I the only one who thinks it's exciting news? No - Jordan Sibley does too!
DT Posted 22 February, 2012 Posted 22 February, 2012 There was me thinking that the exciting news would be exciting news.
Gordon Mockles Posted 22 February, 2012 Posted 22 February, 2012 Clearly, Sibley's definition of excitement is much lower and different to mine!
Appy Posted 22 February, 2012 Posted 22 February, 2012 Lambert for me, Lallana has been good, but his season has been stop/start.
ThreeSixty Posted 22 February, 2012 Posted 22 February, 2012 Anyone know who votes for this? If it's players and managers Lallana will win
The9 Posted 22 February, 2012 Posted 22 February, 2012 Anyone know who votes for this? If it's players and managers Lallana will win Unless it's the players and managers he played against when he was toss for a bit in the middle of the season.
CWD Posted 22 February, 2012 Posted 22 February, 2012 Having two players from our team in the final three for player of the year? Pretty exciting from where I stand! Cracking bit of news.
once_bitterne Posted 22 February, 2012 Posted 22 February, 2012 Anyone know who votes for this? If it's players and managers Lallana will win Voted for my managers according to the Football League web site.
Ado Posted 22 February, 2012 Posted 22 February, 2012 Great news about Lambert and Lallana, they deserve the recognition. But how they can overlook Adkins for the Outstanding Managerial Achievement award when Poyet makes the list is beyond me.
skintsaint Posted 22 February, 2012 Posted 22 February, 2012 so exciting Cardiff haven't anything about it on their website as far as I see.
latter day saint Posted 22 February, 2012 Posted 22 February, 2012 so exciting Cardiff haven't anything about it on their website as far as I see. they know their man has no chance so trying to keep it quiet
Dig Dig Posted 22 February, 2012 Posted 22 February, 2012 Don't worry about Cardiff, we're Southampton, we'll get excited when we want. Joke that Poyet is in the shortlist and not Adkins.
Appy Posted 22 February, 2012 Posted 22 February, 2012 so exciting Cardiff haven't anything about it on their website as far as I see. Ummmmm ....... http://www.cardiffcityfc.co.uk/page/NewsDetail/0,,10335~2619583,00.html
kpturner Posted 22 February, 2012 Posted 22 February, 2012 Peter Whittingham....His dad, Guy, will be proud
Big_Bald_Si Posted 22 February, 2012 Posted 22 February, 2012 Don't worry about Cardiff, we're Southampton, we'll get excited when we want. Joke that Poyet is in the shortlist and not Adkins. Hate to say it, but is it? I'd have expected Southampton to go up from league one at the start of last season, but Brighton? That's a hell of an achievement given their resources. Adkins has done brilliantly, but relative to other football league clubs, we have had money to burn.
westmidlandsaint Posted 22 February, 2012 Posted 22 February, 2012 Don't worry about Cardiff, we're Southampton, we'll get excited when we want. Joke that Poyet is in the shortlist and not Adkins. Is it me or does anyone else really hope that Lee Clark wins the managerial award ahead of Poyet & Freedman just so he can stick two fingers up at the Huddersfield board
saintmatt Posted 22 February, 2012 Posted 22 February, 2012 http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/17127628 Am I reading that right? P*mpey up for community club of the year?? That'll be the community whose businesses they've screwed over time again..
Lazlo78 Posted 11 March, 2012 Posted 11 March, 2012 Football League Awards are tonight. Jordan Sibley @jordansibley Finally arrived after an absolute mare with London traffic. Great venue. pic.twitter.com/eqJVWt3G Adam Lallana @adlallana1 Just arrived at the football league awards with @alexdav1988 he's buzzing just a little bit haha
Roger Posted 11 March, 2012 Posted 11 March, 2012 And how nice that Lee Clark is on the list for 'outstanding managerial achievement' for Huddersfield's unbeaten run....despite the fact they've sacked him! I love lallana and he was awesome yesterday but surely rickie should win it. Adam didnt play well form mid oct to jan.
Avenue Saint Posted 11 March, 2012 Posted 11 March, 2012 Has to go to Lambert! Lallana for all his obvious talent and impact, he's missed a fair number of games whilst I don't think we would currently be top if Lambert missed the same number Golden boot in league 2, league 1, championship, what a LAD!!
Lazlo78 Posted 11 March, 2012 Posted 11 March, 2012 And how nice that Lee Clark is on the list for 'outstanding managerial achievement' for Huddersfield's unbeaten run....despite the fact they've sacked him! LOL - hadn't spotted that one!
Dazza82 Posted 11 March, 2012 Posted 11 March, 2012 His dad, Guy, will be proud Think you will find he is his Uncle

That'll be the community whose businesses they've screwed over time again.. ...and Family Club of the year. I assume this is because they're all related to one another...

Lallana's Left Peg Posted 11 March, 2012 Posted 11 March, 2012 Getting an award out of pity
Sour Mash Posted 11 March, 2012 Posted 11 March, 2012 The Football League @football_league Reply Retweet Favorite · Open The Tokio Marine Family Club of the Year is Portsmouth #Pompey #FLAwards2012 Quite apt for the fishy few That's the credibility of these awards completely out of the window already. Disgusting.
beatlesaint Posted 11 March, 2012 Posted 11 March, 2012 Did anyone get a response about the PFC community club thing? I haven't heard an explanation. Joking aside, after costing the taxpayer millions, defrauding schools, charities, local suppliers and then increasing local unemployment to keep paying overpaid first team members, how on earth are they shortlisted for an award? Family club of the year award ? Leaves you speechless doesn't it.
beatlesaint Posted 11 March, 2012 Posted 11 March, 2012 And now Poyet wins outstanding Managerial Achievement award..........wtf ? Expect Whittingham to pip Rickie and Adam to their nominated award.
Thedelldays Posted 11 March, 2012 Posted 11 March, 2012 And now Poyet wins outstanding Managerial Achievement award..........wtf ? Expect Whittingham to pip Rickie and Adam to their nominated award. and why shouldn't he...?
beatlesaint Posted 11 March, 2012 Posted 11 March, 2012 and why shouldn't he...? well why should he ? whats he done more outstanding than Lee Clark's Huddersfield with their year long unbeaten record or Adkins steering us to the top of the championship to name just 2
Lallana's Left Peg Posted 11 March, 2012 Posted 11 March, 2012 The Poyet award was voted for by fans online I believe. Not something to get all upset about. Doesn't take much by fans of a club to heavily influence it with a bit of organisation. Didn't we do the same with Lambert in our first season in League 1?
Thedelldays Posted 11 March, 2012 Posted 11 March, 2012 well why should he ? whats he done more outstanding than Lee Clark's Huddersfield with their year long unbeaten record or Adkins steering us to the top of the championship to name just 2 because little old brighton are flying at the mo after beating us to win the league....regardless of what you think, he has done brilliantly there...better than the other nominees and yes, his brighton team were miles better than huddersfield..hence why they won the league and the northerners failed in the playoffs drawing loads of games is nothing to shout about in league 1
beatlesaint Posted 11 March, 2012 Posted 11 March, 2012 Yes Pompey won the Fit and Proper award for setting such a good example, the 2012 Debt Free award and the fans got a lifetime achievement award. Jordan Sibley has tweeted that Pompey "bought" two tables for this event tonight.......I wonder if they had to pay up front or if the FL deducted it out of the £800k they gave them ?
Lazlo78 Posted 11 March, 2012 Posted 11 March, 2012 THey won family club which is not problematic - apparently they have staged a number of initiatives for young fans (que loads of jokes). The real travesty is that they are also nominated in the community club of the year: http://www.football-league.co.uk/flawards/news/20120309/shortlist-in-focus-coca-cola-community-club-of-the-year_2293338_2642418
dubai_phil Posted 11 March, 2012 Posted 11 March, 2012 doesn't anyone in the media spot the oddness of PFC being in these awards?? Yep our Jordan does jordansibley Jordan Sibley Pompey win Family Club of the Year. I chuckled too. If the irony isn't enough, they have 'bought' two tables at tonight's awards. #saintsfc 31 minutes ago Favorite Retweet Reply
CWD Posted 11 March, 2012 Posted 11 March, 2012 (edited) Thought this deserved its own thread. Winners of note so far make no sense to me: Family Club of the Year - Portsmouth (****ing lol) Outstanding Manager - Gus Poyet Goal of the Year - Peter Whittingham Edited 11 March, 2012 by CWD
saintmatt Posted 11 March, 2012 Posted 11 March, 2012 Has community club of the year been announced yet?
RobM Posted 11 March, 2012 Posted 11 March, 2012 To be fair, PFC have had more impact on their community than any other club. Pointing them towards Jobsite?
shurlock Posted 11 March, 2012 Posted 11 March, 2012 To be fair, PFC have had more impact on their community than any other club. And on this one it sometimes seems...
CWD Posted 11 March, 2012 Posted 11 March, 2012 (edited) Has community club of the year been announced yet? I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong, but I think family and community club of the year is the same thing. So Portsmouth who mugged off local charities, won best community club. Mental. EDIT turns out they are different awards then. Portsmouth best family club, Rotherham best community club Edited 11 March, 2012 by CWD
trousers Posted 11 March, 2012 Author Posted 11 March, 2012 @jordansibley: Cardiff's Peter Whittingham wins Mitre Goal of the Year award for his strike against Barnsley.
krissyboy31 Posted 11 March, 2012 Posted 11 March, 2012 Did they win the family club because they're all the same family? All 12,000 of them??
Lazlo78 Posted 11 March, 2012 Posted 11 March, 2012 Jordan Sibley @jordansibley Rotherham United beat Pompey to Community Club of the Year.
Brizzie Saints Posted 11 March, 2012 Posted 11 March, 2012 The Coca-Cola Community Club of the Year is Rotherham United #rufc #FLAwards2012 commen sense prevails
