southamptonfclegend Posted 22 February, 2012 Posted 22 February, 2012 I was looking at the table and seeing the relitive closeness between the teams, I wanted to do a predictor like you used to be able to on the BBC website but it seems that feature is only for the premiership, anyone else know where you can get a similar programme?
sambosa75 Posted 22 February, 2012 Posted 22 February, 2012 Its still on the site, just harder to find. Google 'bbc championship predictor'. It'll come up.
Sterlingsaint Posted 22 February, 2012 Posted 22 February, 2012 Try this link http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/eng_div_1/predictor/default.stm
AussieDog Posted 22 February, 2012 Posted 22 February, 2012 I've just done the predictor up to the 17th of April (Peterboro) and a point in a 1-1 draw in that game puts us 6 points clear of 3rd with 2 to play (and a massively superior goal difference). This is the last game of my trip over, and to be honest I wasn't going to bother as I thought tickets would be too hard to get....The other two occasions we got promotion to the top division were both 1-1 draws with the no 7 scoring our goal in both games. Is this fate or just wishful thinking on my part??? lol
The9 Posted 22 February, 2012 Posted 22 February, 2012 (edited) Jesus, I've got us dropping to 5th on the Friday night before the Pompey game. No pressure... ...and being 3rd for most of the run in, but going into the last day 3 points behind West Ham with a much better goal difference, with Brum 2 points ahead in second but with a worse GD than us. So a win and West Ham losing (home to Hull), with Brum not winning (home to safely Play-Offed Reading) would make us champions. Teams are on 92, 90 and 89 with a game to go... mind you I've just checked and I had Brum win 12 (including at West Ham) draw 1 and lose 1 (at Cardiff) which is fairly unlikely... Skate Cheats are 5 points clear of relegation FWIW, Forest, Millwall and Doncaster going down. Brighton 7th ! Edited 22 February, 2012 by The9
70's Mike Posted 22 February, 2012 Posted 22 February, 2012 got us and hammers level on 89, Cardiff third on 87
Saint Luke Posted 22 February, 2012 Posted 22 February, 2012 Go us 2nd on 91 with Birmingham 3rd on 88, Hammers top on 93. Might have engineered some results.
acersaint Posted 22 February, 2012 Posted 22 February, 2012 Saints 89 Cardiff 87 Hammers 86 Brum 85 Blackpool 81 Burnley 78
saintstr1 Posted 22 February, 2012 Posted 22 February, 2012 I will go , Saints 88 , Wham 86 , Birmingham85 ,Blackpool 83 , Cardiff 83 , Reading 76 Pompey escape the drop on GD
OttawaSaint Posted 22 February, 2012 Posted 22 February, 2012 It's going to be a real nail-biter After the brun game on 25 March I have: SAINTS 72 +31 (played 39) WHAM 72 +22 (played 38) READING 72 +19 (played 39) BRUM 71 +34 (played 38)
OttawaSaint Posted 22 February, 2012 Posted 22 February, 2012 bah ****ing smiles should be 38 for WHAM and BRUM
CWD Posted 22 February, 2012 Posted 22 February, 2012 Got the following top 6: 1 Birmingham 46 +39 89 2 SAINTS 46 +44 87 ----------------------- 3 Leeds 46 +23 81 4 West Ham 46 +23 81 5 Cardiff 46 +19 80 6 Blackpool 46 +22 79 My conclusion: I have far too much time on my hands.
kpturner Posted 22 February, 2012 Posted 22 February, 2012 So how many of you are just re-doing it as soon as you get a result that you don't find palatable?
DG Posted 22 February, 2012 Posted 22 February, 2012 West Ham top, Birmingham beat us into 2nd by 1 point.
T.REX Posted 22 February, 2012 Posted 22 February, 2012 I'm too much of a wuss to fill in the saints scores but i make it we need 88 to beat birmingham to second and 91 points to pip the hammers. I tried to do the occasional random championship result but its hard to tell how much fatigue will kick in at birmingham yet given their amount of games over the season. I do think our remaining fixtures aren't too bad though all things considered. Reading, Cardiff, Blackpool were a fair way off Birmingham in the end. Interestingly even without playing our remaining games we were still safely above 17th... Pompey survived ):
Leicestersaint Posted 22 February, 2012 Posted 22 February, 2012 Well here is my prediction: Saints - 86 points - plus 41 goals West Ham - 86 points - plus 25 Brum - 82 points Cardiff - 82 points Burnley - 78 points Hull - 75 points Strangly strange!
Pilchards Posted 23 February, 2012 Posted 23 February, 2012 (edited) I had a go and it's great news, we are 2 points ahead ....of relegation after 45 games.Phew. Edited 23 February, 2012 by Pilchards
Spades Posted 23 February, 2012 Posted 23 February, 2012 Saints 90 +42 West Ham 90 +28 ----------------- Brum 87 Cardiff 86 Boro 82 Reading 79 ----------- Doncaster 41 Portsmouth 40 Millwall 37 (not sure how i managed that)
Crab Lungs Posted 23 February, 2012 Posted 23 February, 2012 (edited) Without any sneaking a look at the tables or bias, here's the table before the last game of the season according to my predictions; and the final table; Edited 23 February, 2012 by Crab Lungs
Leicestersaint Posted 23 February, 2012 Posted 23 February, 2012 Without any sneaking a look at the tables or bias, here's the table before the last game of the season according to my predictions; and the final table; I would be delighted with this - those cocky West Ham fans woudl be taken down a peg or two.
Crab Lungs Posted 23 February, 2012 Posted 23 February, 2012 I would be delighted with this - those cocky West Ham fans woudl be taken down a peg or two. Likewise! It was weird, I tried not to let personal prejudice get in the way and just took each game on it's merit, throwing in one or two out-of-character results every now and then. Certainly didn't see Millwall bottom, neither the Skates finishing 19th! If I was to predict the table without knowing the fixtures, the table would look nothing like this, that's for sure! And I could have sworn I had Bristol City lose a lot more than it would appear in the table.
Saint-Armstrong Posted 23 February, 2012 Posted 23 February, 2012 Really odd from me, I had West Ham dropping points to Cardiff, Birmingham et al, only had us winning 1, possibly 2 away games: 1. SAINTS - 89 2. Cardiff - 89 ------------------------------- 3. Birmingham - 85 4. West Ham - 85 5. Blackpool - 78 6. Reading - 75 ------------------------------- 7. Middlesbrough - 74 8. Leeds United - 74 9. Burnley - 67 10. Leicester -66 11. Brighton - 62 12. Hull - 60 13. Derby - 59 14. Ipswich - 59 15. Crystal Palace -56 16. Barnsley - 53 17. Watford - 53 18. Peterborough - 52 19. Bristol City - 48 20. Portsmouth - 47 21. Millwall - 46 ------------------------------- 22. Nottingham Forest - 46 23. Doncaster Rovers - 46 24. Coventry City - 42
Thedelldays Posted 23 February, 2012 Posted 23 February, 2012 (edited) see, just done it again....gave us a pretty average away tally and have us up in 2nd on goal difference..... tone honest..would not mind so much if west ham beat the likes of brum Edited 23 February, 2012 by Thedelldays
sotonian Posted 23 February, 2012 Posted 23 February, 2012 Birmingham 87 West Ham 86 Middlesbrough 83 Cardiff 83 Saints 82 Reading 77 must do it again & try harder FWIW i got Pompey pipping us to that exclusive 17th place
Amazing Hangover Posted 23 February, 2012 Posted 23 February, 2012 Without looking I have us third behind Birmingham and Wham (93,92,91 New Gold Dream) 16 pts ahead of Leeds who we meet in the plyoffs. ****e. Like most I have Millwall bottom (a horrible affliction) and the Skates surviving by 3pts.
K,Billy's supersound Posted 24 February, 2012 Posted 24 February, 2012 gave it a try and got the following... 1st Westham 87pts 2nd Birmingham 86pts 3rd Cardiff 85pts 4th soton 84pts 5th Middlesborough 82pts 6th Brighton 76pts 7W 4D 3D = 25pts had us winning against Watford(H) Ipswich(H) Barnsely(H) Doncaster(H) Reading(H) Pompey(H) and Covenrty(H) draws against Hull(A) Crystal P (A) Peterborough(A) Middlesborough (A) defeats against Leeds (A) Millwall (A) Blackpool (A) still with saints the games we should win we'll lose and vice versa and its gonna be great fun over the next 14games
student Posted 24 February, 2012 Posted 24 February, 2012 West Ham +35 92pts Soton +48 90pts Brum +43 88pts Blackpool +27 86pts Reading +22 84 pts Cardiff +25 83pts ----------------- Middlesborough 77pts Leeds 77pts 20th Notts Forest -35 39pts 21st Coventry -27 38pts ........................ 22nd Millwall -28 38pts 23rd Pompy -13 36pts 24th Doncaster -39 35pts Got the teams outside the top 6 to really fall away
