Saintandy666 Posted 21 February, 2012 Share Posted 21 February, 2012 One Direction are on the latest acts to come out of Simon Cowell's publicity machine, the 'X factor'. They are pretty awful.

RonManager Posted 21 February, 2012 Share Posted 21 February, 2012 (edited) 30 seconds lip service to Amy Winehouse then quickly moving along. As if it's some kind of begrudging contractual obligation. Vacuous c*nts. Edited 21 February, 2012 by RonManager
SNSUN Posted 21 February, 2012 Share Posted 21 February, 2012 Adele really shouldn't ever open her mouth... to speak. She should be made to sing everything she wants to say for the rest of her life.
Micky Posted 21 February, 2012 Share Posted 21 February, 2012 One Direction - really - the Brit awards. Desperate. Best Single, honestly????
The Cat Posted 21 February, 2012 Share Posted 21 February, 2012 It's awful. Barely anyone with any artistic merit at all. Only watching it because my other half had it on when I came back from the gym. Now I have demolished 6 pancakes I'm turning over.

SuperMikey Posted 21 February, 2012 Share Posted 21 February, 2012 Very few 'artists' on that list of nominees whose music will stand the test of time. All flash in the pan manufactured sh!te.

Verbal Posted 21 February, 2012 Share Posted 21 February, 2012 Why is everyone sounding like my parent's parents c.1961 ? I was thinking something similar - it's like the Beatles never happened.
Dr Who? Posted 21 February, 2012 Share Posted 21 February, 2012 Bring on the NME awards, it has a little more balls. Do like Adele though, but agree she should not speak!
hypochondriac Posted 21 February, 2012 Share Posted 21 February, 2012 It's pop, meaning designed to appeal to a broad market. Broad markets usually mean a low quality, or something simplistic. We all enjoy some of it, but for anyone with any taste it's not going to be their favourite. Same way you may have a preferred beer, whisky, wine, cheese etc if you're into one of those and appreciate the finer things, but can still down a fosters and dairylea some nights. TBF I like Blur and they won an award.
hypochondriac Posted 21 February, 2012 Share Posted 21 February, 2012 And I still don't seem to know any Adele songs. See her in the paper all the time, don't know if I've heard any songs. Guess some will have been in films, adverts maybe. I heard the someone like you song she did because it was played all the time. Other than that I don't know any songs. pap Posted 21 February, 2012 Share Posted 21 February, 2012 Don't read too much into the One Direction award. It's voted for by the public, which actually means "feverishly repeat-dialled by 12-15 year old girls", at great expense to their parents, I would imagine. Hatch Posted 22 February, 2012 Share Posted 22 February, 2012 I sat there watching it with the bird, and everytime the nominations came up and just sat there saying ' Who?'.....'Who?'........'Who?'... Glad One Direction won though, they are super talented and probably going to be bigger than The Beatles.
trousers Posted 22 February, 2012 Share Posted 22 February, 2012 Can someone help me out? I never understand the objective of discussions whereby person A says music X is good and music Y is rubbish. Surely person A should be saying they like music X but don't like music Y rather than making a subjective judgement as to which music is better than the other? If person A doesn't like music Y it doesn't mean music Y is bad. That would be a terribly arrogant leap of logic...
pap Posted 22 February, 2012 Share Posted 22 February, 2012 Or the voice of experience ? A little from column A, and a little from column B. I related the SaintsWeb anguish to the "scouse massive" in my car on the school run this morning, citing my opinion that it was probably repeat-dialling that secured the vote. However, my 12 year old promptly told me "you can only vote once". I asked how they stopped people from voting more than once, and she said that you had to give your email in. So, my new theory is that there are a feckton of new gmail and hotmail addresses that have been created to get them this accolade. This was met with the following response from the 16 year old ( not a One Direction fan, btw ). "Could you be arsed?"

Now, that gives me an idea the next time a Saints player appears on one of those online polls.... ;-)
Jez Posted 22 February, 2012 Share Posted 22 February, 2012 When you have Chase & Status in a category that is voted for by Radio 2 listeners, you do wonder how these things are organised.
