We have Guly, Punch, De Ridder and Chaplow all fighting it out for a spot on the right - I think we're covered. Don't get me wrong, I loved Antonio when he was here, my missus did too, but we have better now.

Today, I wouldn't worry about him.

Back when he left us, I think we should have paid the price to sign him. Although inconsistent, we all saw his raw talent and ability and he performed well more times than not. I'm sure he would have improved with us too.

But we've moved on :)

Not signing him gave a chance to Oxo, and I think we, and Arsenal can be thankful for that.

Wasn't he out of contract that summer of 2010, but Reading gave him a new contract so they'd get some money if we wanted to sign him?

I stumbled across the JPT final highlights the other day.

He certainly had some pace, and confidence, but his crosses were generally just floated randomly into the box whether there was anybody there or not.

He wasn't as good as you remember him.

Let's put this to bed once and for all, antonio was brilliant for us why he was here but he wasnt anywhere near as good as people remember.

Would u honestly swap him for punch or chappers??

THis cant be true. I recall we were told on here two seasons ago Antonio was a brilliant player, much better than Puncheon and was improviing all the time, we were told he would be a premier league player. Reading have got it wrong and so have all the other pemier and championship teams who are not trying to sign this world beater.

another case of Saints fans idolising a player because he is quick and runs aroud alot, regardless of the quality of his end product.

if he was good enough to play at this level, he would be playing at this level. Since he re-signed for Reading he's had numerous loan spells back to League 1 which probably tells you something

On a loan. Always liked him and not convinced we've found much better since.

But obviously surplus to requirements at Reading now.

I'd say AOC, De Ridder, Chaplow and Puncheon are all better than him... far, far better than him. So I make that virtually every winger we've had since he left is better than him.

He was very hit and miss and imagine Adkins playing someone who is so wasteful with the ball! L1 is his level, hence why he keeps getting loaned to L1 clubs.

Happens far to regularly, Antonio was a younger Papa Waigo, inconsistent and and get the better of people by just being fast.

Worryingly similar to Forte.... (though thankfully he doesn't have a fan club for one good performance in 15 dreadful ones)

That ship has sailed. I liked him a lot and he was exciting to watch scored some good goals (brizzle rovers in the cup was an outstanding goal). He was raw but improved with regular football I think if he had stayed at the time we could have improved him into a decent player. He certainaly had pace to burn something many posters on here have said we lacked. Wouldn't get any where near the first team now but as part of our cup winning team I hope he goes onto have a good career somewhere.

He gets on the bench for Reading when McAnuff and Kebe are both out. League One or bottom half of Championship is probably about right for him.
