Reading to lose McDermott?

I'd hate to be in Wolves position about to get someone like Bruce or Curbishley. Most depressing journeyman managers ever. Far better focusing on other prospects from the lower leagues IMO. They need new ideas, not tired names used to failure.

I would say curbs is not a failure...never really failed.....

The managerial merry-go round is quite depressing really. Neither Bruce or Curbishley seem any better than McCarthy. Maybe they should try and tempt that bloke from Southampton, he seems to be doing quite well.

They have royally screwed this up, now the players and fans know they will get in their 3rd-5th choice man which issnt exactly going to give them a big lift, especially if its someone like Bruce or Ince.

I can't believe how often clubs sack managers on the spur of the moment with out having someone lined up to take their place.......

QPR had Hughes lined up already, we knew he was coming as every single target mentioned when we had Warnock had played for Hughes before, the likes of Samba, Onuoha, Zamora etc

Im glad we did it as Hughes is clearly a step up from Warnock, Warnock has relegated every PL team hes managed and Hughes has taken every club hes had into Europe, even Blackburn.

I would not liked him to have gone there, he would have done a good job so Im glad hes turned them down twice. If they dont get him, they are into the likes of Megson, Ince, Bruce etc which would make any fan shudder.

It's a shame some of the younger lower league managers don't get more of a chance, Robinson at MK Dons in particular. If I were Wolves, I know I'd be a hell of a lot more happy having him, rather then some bore like Ince. It would be nice to see the same old faces mixed up a bit, and who knows, we might even unearth a genuine long term England manager. The problem is that all these clubs are just thinking short term plans for short term gains.

Take it they're not looking at Lee Clark? Guess they want previous managerial experience in the Prem.

They cant afford some young manager who may take time to adjust, they need someone proven whos already done a good job in the prem, Oneill and Hughes have got a job recently, who else is there that fits that bill. Even Curbishly has been out of a job for ages.

From the wolves forum

Insiders revealed owner Steve Morgan was offering a bonus of only £150,000 to stay up – a fraction of what others are on to beat the drop and tiny in comparison to the £40million another season in the top flight would bring.

The job also pays around £12,500-a-week for the rest of the campaign, with another year’s contract on top if survival is assured.

Morgan prefers a short-term fix and an inspirational figure to lift his team.

Probably explains why managers are knocking them back left right and centre.....

I think he'll be mad to go to Wolves.

I don';t think they're particularly flush with cash, and stories now point towards reading having a few bob to splash about (as shown by their January signings). It's the start of what could be a decent era for Reading, and If I was him i personally wouldn't want to leave - I might use the situation to force my current club to give me a pay rise though!

I guess there is as much uncertainty with the new Reading owners as there would be with Wolves and Wolves will offer pop star wages.

Interesting that Curbishley is holding out for a better offer or isn't interested though.

Lovely stretch of road between Barkham and Bearwood on a bike. A spiky hill followed by a false flat past Bearwood Lakes. Downhill past the college entrance is the only place I routinely get over 50kph without descending in the Chilterns. You're right it's not that posh. Two teachers unable to hack it in state school in Bracknell currently teaching there speaks volumes for it's standards.

Of no consequence, but got 55kph today going down Star Hill into Hartley Wintney.
