St_Tel49 Posted 21 February, 2012 Share Posted 21 February, 2012 It was shown in Scotland a few months ago so the DVD is already out. I have got it, so I can promise that the rest is as good as the first show. Getting Eric Bibb and Alison Krauss was a bit of a coup. The "House Band" seem to be getting better and better and the US Bluegrass musicians really looked like they were enjoying the experience.
OVER THE HILL Posted 24 February, 2012 Share Posted 24 February, 2012 As good as this is , it's a shame there is not a series showing some of the best artists on the English folk scene.
St_Tel49 Posted 27 February, 2012 Share Posted 27 February, 2012 As good as this is , it's a shame there is not a series showing some of the best artists on the English folk scene. I agree with this although I would prefer to see them as part of the Transatlantic Sessions - it is the cross fertilisation of musicians that makes them unique. Jim Moray and Mike McGoldrick are part of the house band but people like Spiers, Boden, Kate Rusby, Sartin, Martin Simpson amongst would bring a lot to the table. I find it almost unbelievable that someone like June Tabor has not been invited. (and I say that as a Celt). However, the fact that it is largely financed by Celtic TV stations has a lot to do with it.
