O/S Saints player

Anyone else get constant problems with this crap? I`ve had too many to list but the latest one is the next fixture page keeps blocking me out. every time i click on the content I want the page shows for 2-3 seconds and is then covered by Watford v Saints meaning I cannot use the site effectivly paying a monthly fee to find out our next fixture ffs.

It's reliability is pretty crap. Sometimes, videos inexplicably don't work for a while, and live commentary can be dogey as well. I keep up with it though because it eventually does work, the highlights are pretty good and getting the commentary from the away matches I don't attend is nice too.

Looking back, I think they upped the price on that promise as well. Cheeky b*stards.

 

They did, they sent out an email if I remember correct saying they are upping it by 30p or whatever a month, but that for this 30p we would get HD video and they needed the extra cash to support this upgrade. Obviously total bull****.

And falling foul of consumer law if true. If they promised a level of service and have failed to deliver then they ought to have widespread refund claims on their hands.

 

Well, they would do if the British public wasn't so apathetic about exercising their consumer rights....

Tbh, I wouldn't even know how to go about it properly. And I've deleted the original email as well I suspect.

 

Edit: I guess I could send them a quick email enquiring as to where it is.

Well, I sent them a very brief and quick email in the contact us bit, though I think that just goes to Saintsfc... but we'll just have to wait and see what they say.

At the beginning of this season, the price per month of club player was risen. The rise was justified along with the promise that the quality of highlights videos would be increased. However, since this time, there has been no rise in the quality of the videos on club player from the 1MB it has always been.

Anybody listen to the prematch broadcast on Saturday? All the broadcasting points weren't integrated into one broadcast channel, the Bournemouth commentator, and others, was replying to an unbroadcasted question from the studio, silence......then his reply followed by more silence...followed by him again replying to the unheard question. I emailed Perform Group at 1405 and it took 45 mins to fix. In the meantime they kept telling me to reboot, press F5 etc as if it was my end, how could I filter out, on the fly, one source of the commentary in particular. I have a 5Megabye connection (not 5 Megabit).

Surely it's not too much to ask to have someone their end monitor what's going out.

PS This sort of thing happens all the time eg, late start of broadcast through lack of the streaming.

I've had very few problems with it. One thing that has annoyed me this season is how they made a massive deal in the summer of "HD quality video highlights" - and yet they're still as pixelated as ever.

 

Yep. This is what annoys me too. I remember them saying it would be HD quality, and it's still bloody hard to pick the moving ball out with so many pixels

Quality of vids on saints player is shocking, I don't know why it is so bad but they really need to sort that out.

 

I still have a copy of the email, it reads:

 

Dear XXXXXX

 

We are currently working on improvements to Saints Player that will give you a much higher quality viewing and match day experience.

 

Key improvements include:

Upgraded near HD video quality

 

CoveritLive live chat

For the new season it is necessary to increase the price of your subscription slightly. As of 10/08/2011 your subscription will start to be billed at £4.29 per month. That is an increase of just 30p per month.

Yes, that's how it happened. As you say, it's hard to understand how it is that they do not monitor what's going out, so that they would notice it immediately and then fix the problem. When I worked in radio, the feed into our headphones was always the broadcast feed, not the source feed.

I've noticed today that they've introduced a 'medium' setting on the videos so now they have "low", "medium" and "high". Not sure if that's a sign that they've upped the quality of the "high" setting...?
