I've never heard a gun shot in Southampton. I was trying to think of the last time i heard of someone being shot in our city and my answer was the IRA shoting a police man in the 70s/80s if my memory is correct?

Actually, you can hear shotguns all the time from Hiltingbury road, over the winter months, poor pheasants.

Living in St Marys (the area of Southampton, not the stadium), there have been 4 murders on my road in the last 10 years, but the last one was more than 5 years ago.

 

All stabbings. Reported as either gang or drug related. I see loads of drug deals, they really aren't very subtle about it, but never heard a gun shot.
