trousers Posted 5 November, 2008 Posted 5 November, 2008 Nice one SFC... An even better idea would be to issue multi game 'passes' - i.e. 5 game pass; 10 game pass; 15 game pass...etc...that can be used at anytime during the season and not necessarily for consecutive games - a bit like a Disney theme park pass I guess (not that I'm trying to compare SFC with Mickey Mouse I hasten to add!) That way, the club gets a bit of cash up front and the punter gets a flexible pass with a few quid discount thrown in for good measure....
JohnnyFartPants Posted 5 November, 2008 Posted 5 November, 2008 That is a very good idea. I expect a few fans will argue that they had to pay out a lot more to get that same deal and would have liked the option too, though.

Trousers' idea might work at the moment (when gates are low) but has two problems: - it will probably cause confusion as you'd have to have unallocated seating for a flexipass and some seats are already allocated for full season tickets. - for popular games there's a danger everyone would turn up at once resulting in not enough room in the inn. Especially as there would be a rush towards the end of the season (typical rise towards the season finale + people trying to use up their flexipass).
trousers Posted 5 November, 2008 Posted 5 November, 2008 Knew I should have thought it through first!

You just play the match twice with two different sets of supporters and take an average from both games as the final score. To be honest, they have been doing this with Nativity plays in schools for years. (That's doing them twice, not scoring goals.)

Could be issued in token form, which you would need to exchange for a ticket at the T/O when sale was open to ST holders and Members.
s0108787 Posted 5 November, 2008 Posted 5 November, 2008 there might be a problem with allocated seating for that. Surely the club could allocate seating on a first come first serve basis as per a normal ticket sale. Essentially you'd use the season ticket as a credit note against the games, with the benefit of reduced cost to you and increased revenue up front for the club.
Wes Tender Posted 5 November, 2008 Posted 5 November, 2008 It's a good idea, because it means that anybody like me can renew at the very instant that Lowe and Wilde and their cronies depart from running the club and still get some price advantage. It's taken them a bloody long time to think of something like this, whilst in the meantime the club was making heavy losses due to poor attendances.

Essentially it would be like buying gift vouchers for a number of matches which are redeemed at the ticket office for individual match tickets. The sooner the holder redeems the ticket the more chance they have of selecting the seat that they want. I'd be inclined to go for that rather than a season ticket as I always end up missing a few matches each season but generally know a couple of months in advance which ones they will be.

You seem reasonable and flexible, others aren't quite as adult. It's a Catch 22 situation, whatever they do will always alienate somebody who will no doubt use whatever means are at his (or her) disposal to whip up support for an anti-club campaign.
Huffton Posted 5 November, 2008 Posted 5 November, 2008 I expect its been thought of long ago but has only just been able to be implemented now the new computer system is up and running.
OldNick Posted 5 November, 2008 Posted 5 November, 2008 Whoever thought it up or gave it the go ahead all the better. The proof of the pudding is in the eating, lets see the take up. I just hope many take up the offer. I notice the club haven't done anything about getting advertising put up in the unused corner seating.Surely a tremendous money making opportunity

Coventry have used it, i'm sure it would take much to find someone who is willing to pay to have their name/ brand/ company etc/ strung across in full sight of everyone
Patrick Bateman Posted 5 November, 2008 Posted 5 November, 2008 Ticket Office in 'damn fine idea' shocker!! http://www.saintsfc.co.uk/articles/article.php?page_id=10861 I like the idea, I might well do that. However, I'd like the see a "weekend fixture only" season ticket or flexible season ticket seeing as I hardly ever get to make mid-weekers due to work. I'm sure I'm not the only one? More money up front, but 'my' seat is available during mid-week for others to buy, or me to buy if I can make it. Would that be so hard to do??

More money up front, but 'my' seat is available during mid-week for others to buy, or me to buy if I can make it. Would that be so hard to do?? Good idea in principle matey. The only possible issue I can see with that is how much you would pay - how would it work if a weekend game was moved to a midweek through telly or postponement?
Mole Posted 6 November, 2008 Posted 6 November, 2008 Southampton always used to have the most season ticket holders who lived outside a 50 mile radius of the ground in our Premiership days. I expect that section of the ST base has declined dramatically and therefore this is an area the club needs to address. Other clubs, such as Watford, offer a reduced season ticket price to fans who live more than 5o miles from Watford - Saints should run a similar scheme.
alpine_saint Posted 6 November, 2008 Posted 6 November, 2008 Its a crap idea, in my opinion. The only way it will work is if we put in a sudden good run before the Jan trasnfer window that encourages a few people to stump up cash prior to Lowe flogging the final family silver.

I actually wrote to the club in the summer, with this very idea, suggesting they used the non-allocated corner between the Kingsland and Northam stands (because I too can make most weekend fixtures but not mid-week). I never received a reply, a week or so later they announced that they were closing the corners and consequently, I did not renew my Season Ticket.
Chez Posted 6 November, 2008 Posted 6 November, 2008 talking of good ideas why don't they close the family centre corner and merge it into the Chapel stand? Also why aren't ST rewarded with a chance to win more stuff. Like an upgrade to the soft seats in the Itchen centre, free parking at the stadium or even dare I say it a box? I don't think ST holders were ever given the `gift/reward' or whatever was mooted. So maybe a few more of these prize give aways for ST holders might be a relatively cost free way to cheer us up at half time.

South City Si Posted 6 November, 2008 Posted 6 November, 2008 The flixi idea is a good one in my opinion. Has tempted me to use it as I can't currently afford a full ST, but this may mean I may take one up in the new year as should be getting some pay back from April from pay dispute.
1976_Child Posted 7 November, 2008 Posted 7 November, 2008 I'm pleasantly surprised at this announcement. Well done whoever thought of it - and yes, even if was Lowe. Credit where credit is due. I agree with the idea of a booklet of tickets, say 5 league games for £100 - which is £20 discount. The only problem I would see is that the games would have to be specified up front. I might be talking nonsense but I don't think the FA - or the police - would be happy to know that an unknown number of people where going to turn up to a game, or that the same seat had been sold twice. Any incentive to get people through the turnstiles is warmly received. That said, why wasn't the Coventry game kids-for-a-quid? Half term, ideal time to do it. Up the Saints.
SaintDonkey Posted 7 November, 2008 Posted 7 November, 2008 Well done Saints on this one - I am going to take it up, partly because it's a good deal, partly because the club I love needs the money more than I do at the moment. Only issue is where - I normally move about the ground supercitiously, a good result same place next match, a bad result move to the next stand...

Mr saint Posted 7 November, 2008 Posted 7 November, 2008 Didn't Charlton do something last season like if they didn't get promoted back to the Premiership straight away they would give all season ticket holders a full refund? Perhaps Saints should do something similar to this. Obviously not the same, but say if we didn't finish in the top 6 they'd give us a 50% refund? This way, I'm sure we'd get about twice as many season ticket holders, we'd definately make more money on matchdays from programmes/food/drink etc., and we'd have a much better atmosphere in the ground too. Even if we didn't finish in the top 6, we'd probably end up making more money than we are now! Feel free to start picking holes in this incredible idea of mine
