Let him entertain the fans at home against the lesser teams but When/If we get promoted sell him on. You sound like a skate. How was the goal he scored lucky? I imagine he was not involved as A) he is a new player still adjusting to things over here and B) Nigel recognises it is a squad game and picks his sides with this in mind. Nothing in his very short appearances so far has or me to believe that all he has is pace and is really average. His work rate was brilliant and hassled players into making mistakes whilst he showed decent control a few times and scored a cracking goal. Give him a few games to show what he can do before calling him rubbish (a claim incorrectly levelled at myself on more than one occasion.)
Minty Posted 22 February, 2012 Share Posted 22 February, 2012 No one is saying he will be a Premiership superstar. That would be crazy. St_Tel49 Posted 22 February, 2012 Author Share Posted 22 February, 2012 It's hardly something to get excited about is it? Who was getting excited? I simply highlighted an article that I thought was of interest to fellow fans and if even if it was wrong it might get us a few extra foreign supporters and sell a few grands worth of merchandise. Remember a lot of kids follow the clubs that their heroes play for (witness all the Man U, CHelsea and Liverpool shirts around Southampton). Lee will be a hero at home to at least some youngsters so they will follow us. All to the good I say.

hypochondriac Posted 22 February, 2012 Share Posted 22 February, 2012 Potentially interesting about a Japanese consortium. I'm pretty sure that's "skill", not "luck", or you have to apply the same criteria to every deliberate kick of a ball in every match. Damn Saints and their 30 consecutive lucky passes for that goal earlier in the season.

From watching him play! fair enough everyone needs time to settle in so I wasnt expecting a hat trick on his debut! however I wasnt expecting him to run around like a headless chicken either! When you consider we could have tried to sign Sam Vokes or Harry kane (on loan) I think it was pointless spending money on a player who had no experience of English football. His energy certainly freshend up our attack and his touch / layoffs where decent IMO. In fact he could of scored befor that when Lallana had the chance that was well saved Lee was behind him in a better position., I guess the language issue to eb able to tell lallana to leave it hindered him at that point. Well forgive me, but I think that sums up your football knowledge more than anything else. The so-called headless chicken that you saw, was IMO, a busy, intelligent player, making good runs, seeking to pull defenders out of position, anticipating play and generally showing a good level of awareness and tactical intelligence. The build-up to the goal alone was a good example. Although Cork's pass to him didn't come off, the way Lee made a quite deliberate run behind his marker, on his blind side, to stretch the play, was excellent. It also then opened up the centre of the pitch for a second runner to perhaps move onto any knock down or secondary pass that might have come from it. Good movement is one of the most dangerous things you can have in your attacking armoury. Lee brings us a lot of it.
