david in sweden Posted 19 February, 2012 Share Posted 19 February, 2012 haven't seen any stats. on this one, BUT unless I'm mistaken we've had TWELVE goals scored by players coming on as sub.(in various games) this season. I know it's not often you hear of TWO subs. scoring in the same game.
Saint Garrett Posted 19 February, 2012 Share Posted 19 February, 2012 De Ridder must have a few this season? We have a few attacking options so if something isn't working, and we change it, it's quite likely one is goign to score, top marks by the manager,

VectisSaint Posted 19 February, 2012 Share Posted 19 February, 2012 Forte, Lambert (2), Chaplow, Lallana, Schneiderlin, De Ridder (3), Holmes and Connolly have all scored for Saints this season after coming on as subs in various games before yesterday. Odd that apart from Lambert's goal against Millwall the last goa scored by a sub was against Coverntry at the start of November.

I make it Lambert got only ONE sub.goal (Swindon (A) in L. Cup game. It was 10 - until yesterday. the latest two were, of course ..Aaron Martin and T. Lee. You didn't read all of my post, Lambert's 2nd was against Millwall in the FA Cup replay a couple of weeks back. I saw the 1st away to Swindon but not the one against Millwall, only home game missed so far this year.

david in sweden Posted 20 February, 2012 Author Share Posted 20 February, 2012 (edited) Well I've done some analysis of my own and I reckon we've scored SIXTY goals from starting players, reaffirming my belief that our starters are better than our subs. Of course, but most of them were probably scored by players who had quite a few chances in each game, and were on the pitch for 90+ mins. each time. Nigel Adkins says we have a squad and doesn't differenciate between " starters", and those who "start" on the bench. I thought it was pretty impressive for Lee Holmes to come on in the last 5 minutes and score (v. Watford), but I can't recall (if ever) we've had a game where TWO central defenders scored, and neither was on the pitch for more than 45 mins.?
