Appy Posted 19 February, 2012 Posted 19 February, 2012 Time to get a decent result at one of our bogey grounds. Davis Richardson Fonte Hooiveld Fox Puncheon Cork Schneiderlin Lallana Lambert Sharp. Would be a massive win, especially with West Ham at Blackpool and Cardiff in the coming weeks.
Appy Posted 19 February, 2012 Author Posted 19 February, 2012 You nicked the idea for this thread. Snooze you lose.
Crazy Diamond Posted 19 February, 2012 Posted 19 February, 2012 Are we still using 'let's smash them' or whatever it was from the Burnley game build up? If so it's got a good record.
Verbal Posted 19 February, 2012 Posted 19 February, 2012 Snooze you lose. I preferred the other one. Much more po-mo.
sad saints fan Posted 19 February, 2012 Posted 19 February, 2012 See ! told you http://www.saintsweb.co.uk/showthread.php?35958-where-is-the-Watford-build-up-thread.
Leicestersaint Posted 19 February, 2012 Posted 19 February, 2012 It is time for a convincing away win at Watford.
SNSUN Posted 19 February, 2012 Posted 19 February, 2012 Are we still using 'let's smash them' or whatever it was from the Burnley game build up? If so it's got a good record. Sadly, my "Let's Smash 'Em" idea was for the West Ham game. And we didn't, results-wise at least.
st.sj Posted 19 February, 2012 Posted 19 February, 2012 does any one know if their are tickets left for the game? The ticket lines info is out of date and cant seem to see any info on the saints site.

Appy Posted 19 February, 2012 Author Posted 19 February, 2012 Bit harsh... could have just told him it was sold out. How on earth is that harsh? All the info he wanted, i can't blame him for missing it on the OS.
kwsaint Posted 19 February, 2012 Posted 19 February, 2012 Tbh if you wanted to go just buy one adult one junior in the family section and throw away the junior ticket. It's only a fiver
st.sj Posted 19 February, 2012 Posted 19 February, 2012 How on earth is that harsh? All the info he wanted, i can't blame him for missing it on the OS. Thanks. Am blind!

No I'd stay with Chaplow over Puncheon
Pilchards Posted 19 February, 2012 Posted 19 February, 2012 I think Adkins has set his stall out for a point away from home and 3 points all home games. I see this being a draw with the team bringing on Hammond with 10 to go to tighten things up again.
Appy Posted 19 February, 2012 Author Posted 19 February, 2012 I think Adkins has set his stall out for a point away from home and 3 points all home games. I see this being a draw with the team bringing on Hammond with 10 to go to tighten things up again. I don't think so, if you're comparing Watford away to Birmingham or West Ham, then you shouldn't, points there are good, at places like Watford 3 points are needed.
Crazy Diamond Posted 19 February, 2012 Posted 19 February, 2012 Watford are doing a hell of a lot better than I thought they would. I suspected they'd be bottom throughout the campaign based on what I saw at St. Mary's and their dreadful pre-season. Tough one to call, I hope we turn up like we did at Forest.
ladysaint Posted 20 February, 2012 Posted 20 February, 2012 Anyone remember us losing there in about 83, 7-1 in the league cup, one of the 3 times I have seen 7 put past us, hopefully on Saturday we can reverse that score.
Sour Mash Posted 20 February, 2012 Posted 20 February, 2012 Saw their highlights from their Saturday game against Palace and their defending/goal keeping looked abysmal, guarantees they'll all have a blinder against us. Have they replaced Sordell at all?
up and away Posted 20 February, 2012 Posted 20 February, 2012 We cannot afford passengers such as Sharp and Chaplow against Watford. If they are not fully fit, don't start them. We should have more than enough good players to pick from to get this job done.
ottery st mary Posted 20 February, 2012 Posted 20 February, 2012 (edited) For info... Whilst purchasing further tickets for Barnsley game.... Was able to purchase one adult and one junior for Saturday at Watford.. SORRY should have said....family tickets... There are some left.. Edited 20 February, 2012 by ottery st mary

Sour Mash Posted 20 February, 2012 Posted 20 February, 2012 For info... Whilst purchasing further tickets for Barnsley game.... Was able to purchase one adult and one junior for Saturday at Watford.. There are some left.. Our ticket office is the best.
Appy Posted 20 February, 2012 Author Posted 20 February, 2012 Our ticket office is the best. It says on the website there are a limited number of family tickets left.
channonball Posted 20 February, 2012 Posted 20 February, 2012 Watford have still got tickets in their end. They told me it was database only sales but still sold me a ticket when I said I wasn't on it. You probably won't have any luck though it you have a Southampton post code.
Sour Mash Posted 20 February, 2012 Posted 20 February, 2012 It says on the website there are a limited number of family tickets left. Ha, oh yeah. Still a bunch of c**ts though. Wonder how many of these family tickets are still available.
tpbury Posted 20 February, 2012 Posted 20 February, 2012 Anyone remember us losing there in about 83, 7-1 in the league cup, one of the 3 times I have seen 7 put past us, hopefully on Saturday we can reverse that score. And the other two times? I sincerely hope you go to every match, otherwise, please stay away!
John Boy Saint Posted 20 February, 2012 Posted 20 February, 2012 We cannot afford passengers such as Sharp and Chaplow against Watford. If they are not fully fit, don't start them. We should have more than enough good players to pick from to get this job done. Chaplow a passenger!!!!!!???!!!!!! he took a hefty challenge first half on Saturday, checked everything was in order as he got up realised that it was all ok and started playing like the Jack Russell on speed that we have come to love from him. Give Lee another good run out, not only does he have a good touch but he is a quick tenacious player who will have defenders worried all the time he is on the pitch.
jamesb Posted 20 February, 2012 Posted 20 February, 2012 Too true. Chaplow was all over it, putting himself on the line several times. I thought we looked reenergised and different tomany games recently. I like the idea of Sharp first half, Lee second. See how it goes!
barney_b64 Posted 20 February, 2012 Posted 20 February, 2012 Important games, imagine it is one of the away games Adkins is targeting 3 points from. ------------------------Davis------------------- Richardson-----Fonte------Hooiveld-------Fox Chaplow-----Schneiderlin-------Cork-----Lallana --------------Lee-----------Lambert Subs: Martin, Harding, Puncheon, Hammond, Sharp Assuming Hoovield and Richardson are fit.
Lets B Avenue Posted 20 February, 2012 Posted 20 February, 2012 1981 I think - Luther Blissett was on fire that evening... 1980. After we won the home leg 4-0. After 90 mins it was 5-1 but the away goals rule dosen't apply till the end of the tie. 2 mins later and a 16 year old Nigel Callaghan volleyed in a corner.
JRM Posted 20 February, 2012 Posted 20 February, 2012 these family tickets are ridiculous, just put them all on sale, with fair adult and child prices, clearly there isn't demand of 1 adult 1 child restricted tickets, most people who take kids either go with additional adults or additional kids, rather than just a pair
Avenue Saint Posted 20 February, 2012 Posted 20 February, 2012 ........................Davis Richardson Fonte Hooiveld Fox Puncheon Cork Schneiderlin Lallana Lambert Lee Bench: Deridder Hammond Sharp Chaplow Martin
Cabrone Posted 20 February, 2012 Posted 20 February, 2012 I think Adkins has set his stall out for a point away from home and 3 points all home games. I see this being a draw with the team bringing on Hammond with 10 to go to tighten things up again. Whilst a point away and 3 at home should do it this really is the kind of game that we should be looking at 3 points if we are to get top 2. Merely aiming for a point in away games puts huge pressure on our home form so when we can get 3 we need to go for it. I think we'll need 26 points for an auto place so a win at Watford will reduce the target down to 23 from 13 games with 6 at home. Very doable IMO.
SuperMikey Posted 20 February, 2012 Posted 20 February, 2012 ------------------DAVIS------------------ FRAZER-----FONTE-----HOOIVELD-----FOX CHAPLOW----CORK-----MORGAN---LALLANA ----------LAMBERT-----SHARP------------ Subs: Martin, Hammond, Puncheon, De Ridder, Lee I would rest Guly for this so he can recuperate properly from his illness and Steve needs a game anyway so he can try and win back his place in the side. Sharp to start as well because he needs that goal to get his confidence up and get him firing - dropping him to the bench ain't going to help. If he's not on it by 60 minutes we can put Lee on, because at that point Watford's defence will be tired and Lee will be able to exploit that.

Saint Garrett Posted 20 February, 2012 Posted 20 February, 2012 Can see Lee starting with Sharp on the bench.
Leicestersaint Posted 20 February, 2012 Posted 20 February, 2012 Sharp will start I imagine unless he has an injury. I don't see a role for SDR.
Saint Charlie Posted 20 February, 2012 Posted 20 February, 2012 Yeah Lee to come off the bench in away games is most likely IMO but maybe Lee will start, great competition. Send SDR and Barnard out on a months loan with instant recall.
up and away Posted 20 February, 2012 Posted 20 February, 2012 Chaplow a passenger!!!!!!???!!!!!! he took a hefty challenge first half on Saturday, checked everything was in order as he got up realised that it was all ok and started playing like the Jack Russell on speed that we have come to love from him. Give Lee another good run out, not only does he have a good touch but he is a quick tenacious player who will have defenders worried all the time he is on the pitch. Chaplow was better this game, some good periods but still flagging at times and not up to his usual standards. I am not saying don't play them, but don't start them unless fully fit. If you start more than a couple of players that are not fully fit you have a fair chance of being left with them on the pitch if changes are vital eleswhere. Bring them on in the second half and you have no such issues. I don't know which players to select for this game because of many factors, but no way would I start Sharp and Chaplow unless I was certain they could go the distance after their last two games. It's one thing picking that team to start against Derby at home, another away to Watford. Just look back at Saturdays game and why were Sharp and Chaplow substituted early? Then throw in a forced substitution and you don't have the numbers to alter the game with a couple of substitutions elsewhere. This could have been an issue against Derby, but at home and given their away form it's not difficult to see Adkins logic. After watching Watford against Leicester, I doubt Adkins will take that risk again.
Ricky Redstripe Posted 20 February, 2012 Posted 20 February, 2012 We cannot afford passengers such as Sharp and Chaplow against Watford. If they are not fully fit, don't start them. We should have more than enough good players to pick from to get this job done. Bloody hell, I'd hardly call Chaplow a passenger, he's been one of our best players this season!
SNSUN Posted 20 February, 2012 Posted 20 February, 2012 Lee's earned his place with THAT goal, but I must say it doesn't always pan out like that, and I can see Adkins even keeping faith with Sharp, or putting Connolly or Guly in. I hope not, as I really want Lee to settle here and come good. Our right wing has gone from suspect to fantastic in a matter of a month. Guly will most likely be utilised there rather than up front now we have Lee and Sharp, Puncheon needs to be kept happy, De Ridder has a contribution to make and Chaplow keeps playing himself into contention too. With Lallana undroppable, it's not like they can even switch to start on the left! Something's gotta give, but what a pleasant headache for Adkins.
saintbob40 Posted 21 February, 2012 Posted 21 February, 2012 Chaplow is like a naughty Labrador puppy. He's everywhere and into everything. First touch lets him down at times but you cannot fault his enthusiasm and luckily Morgan and Cork are intelligent footballers and fill in where necessary.
Saintjersey Posted 21 February, 2012 Posted 21 February, 2012 Watford have just brought in Tomasz Kuszczak from Utd on loan till the end of the season. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/17115073
Wiggles31 Posted 23 February, 2012 Posted 23 February, 2012 Which means he'll have a blinding debut against us.
beavis17 Posted 23 February, 2012 Posted 23 February, 2012 Watford have just signed Trotta on loan from Fulham as well. Was banging them in at Wycombe, will be interesting to see how he fares in the Championship. Plus Huseklepp's gone on loan from the Skates to Birmingham...
saints-cris Posted 23 February, 2012 Posted 23 February, 2012 Kuszack to make save after save and Trotta to score the winner?
